If you can find a biography on Murphy, he is a very interesting story. I was on his high school team, he was a star in three sports and the nicest guy you could ever meet. Not surprised he would make a statement like that. It's a helluva story making the Redskins as a free agent in the George Allen era and where his career led him after his playing days.
I was a couple years behind Murphy but do recall his athletic ability (and his red hair) on basketball and football teams. Very nice, humble guy.
When GB won the SB a few years ago, my wife (also Clarence grad) and I just stared at the TV (and each other) when his name was called and he accepted the trophy. It finally clicked he was the same guy. We had lost track of him after the Redskins.

Not sure about the wings but I heard he ate his candy bars with a knife and fork.

I believe another critical piece to reading the defense is also knowing the offense (where the receivers are going). Not a Tyrod supporter, but in his time in Buffalo he has had multiple OC (offensive systems) and too many receivers to even remember. So he is trying to read the defense along with remember the offense AND understand how his receivers are reading the defense. Frequent changing of systems (OC/DC) is one of the factors (probably very important) as to why we had been toiling in failure for so many years.
I am becoming confident that McDermott is here for the long haul. We need to establish both defensive and offensive systems that will also be in place for the long haul. I am not sold on Dennison, but changing offensive systems AGAIN may not be the panacea we all hope for.

K-9 I like the way you think.

Perfect time for the Webb option. He is big enough to get the 1 yard on 4 tries. Never have to worry about hand-off behind the line of scrimmage and losing yards.

You fire the OC after one year, where the QB misses reads
This.
I saw some very creative play calling unfortunately with a QB who cannot pre-read a defense and completely misses big opportunities. Listen closely to Romo. I don't think you can change offensive systems every year and ever be successful.
-
I often wonder how a near yearly change in coordinators (offensive/defensive systems) impacts the overall performance of the team & particularly the QBs we fail with. Belichek has been successful in part due to a single QB (yes a great one) but I think more importantly the offensive and defensive systems have been in place for many many years. New guys learn it and fit in while the old guys know exactly, from year to year, what their role is.
We have to stop the coaching carousel and it seems we have the right guy at the top to do just this.

It was a phantom hold. It was a tackle. But since the defense cannot be called for tackling, it is called holding........

This brought back a painful memory. In 99 I had completed my retire @55 analysis and was more than good to go. Still working @ 61 thanks to the Telecom Train Wreck/dot-com bubble burst.................

I agree. From what I saw in HD was that the ball was definitely not firmly in his grasp BEFORE it hit the ground and popped up. IOW, the ball was coming loose before it hit the ground AND before the guy was down. It should have been a fumble/TD return for the Bills. Same old, same old on the call going against the Bills.
After the game(s) celebration(s) and the house got back to somewhat normal I went back and reviewed the play. The ball was clearly loose BEFORE Landry landed OOB. Another screw job as it was NOT CLEAR EVIDENCE AT ALL.

How can it take multiple minutes to come back with an overturn on irrefutable evidence? It took that long to review frame by frame and find probable evidence at best.

If McD can justify Tolbert as #2 RB due to leadership qualities, certainly Kyle would trump that next year.

Good assessment and I agree. If the field is messy Tyrod's running ability will be nullified.
McD made a statement to that effect earlier this week. We want to understand the scrambling abilities before deciding on the starting QB. So he knows Tyrod MUST be able to run to be anything near effective.

No one is justifying the way Gronk responded after White intercepted the ball. He even said his response was irresponsible, and he apologized for it. What more do you want? Gronk does not have a history of reckless play. In fact, he is usually the player who is frequently abused on the field. I'm sure the league will get involved and fine him. Does he warrant a suspension? I don't believe so because he doesn't have a history of reckless play.
We are just going to disagree on this issue. As I said in a response to Plezmid Gronk does not have a history of dangerous play. The TE lost control of his emotions and then recklessly responded. He acknowledge and apologized for his actions. Was it sincere? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt where you don't. So be it.
After reading several of your inputs on this subject I have concluded you are either related to Gronk, an old friend (he did grow up in Amherst), or a NE fan. I cannot justify in any shape or form being that enraged to intentionally try to inflict damage to a defenseless player (person). Not sure how you can objectively take this position.
Note: I will not respond to your rebuttal as I do NOT normally voice my opinion on this site about another member, but this one I just cannot control myself.

But you are still in 1st place - mid season slump is all. Plenty of talent to rise above the ashes of today.

Have we all agreed that arm strength does or doesn't matter? This is why decisions by committee never work! LOL

Thanks for the laugh on all 4 responses! Board needs a more of this!

Matthews had sure hands up until he dropped the ball for a fumble.
I am pretty sure this was the hand (right) with the broken thumb. You could see on the replay he did not have a normal solid grasp on it.
-
Very disappointing that he did not show this week. He has been the highlight of the season prior to Jets games in the past.

Exactly. Most people had chalked up Atlanta as a "guaranteed loss".
And Denver

I'm still waiting on the madden cover curse?
The Madden curse is under way. It is the McDermott & McBean Bills

I'm always nervous with these games. Every game we've won this year, I though we were going to lose - except TB. And every game I expected to win, we've lost! Except the first Jets game.
So please expect us to lose the next 9.

One has to feel sorry for the man. So much turmoil and lack of stability in his life. The Bills were the only stability he had and just like that it is gone. Prayers for Marcell and hope he fills the voids in his life. He definitely needs a good woman.
