  1. Cromartie's antics aside, the Jets are going to try to run the hell out of the ball in Week One. Wannstedt already knows it.

Think about it: Jets have OL issues, a brewing QB controversy, and not exactly what you would call an imposing cast of WRs. Rex sees the D line Buffalo has built and does not want to put either Sanchise or Tebow in a position to be pummeled.

Buffalo's run defense will be tested early and often.

Agreed. Haven't they been successful running the ball against us for the past few games? I believe 200+ yards/game has been surrendered by the beleaguered bills front 7. I sure hope the paper view translates to the field.

  2. I posted this before. I had a chance to talk with Fitz's dad before the Cowboys game. He said after the Fletcher hit Fitz was real hurting. He was amazed he was able to play the way he was walking around the house the next week. He was trying to convince him to wear a flack jacket. But to no avail. So I know he was hurt and I can't imagine playing with that injury let alone trying to throw the ball. The downturn was in part the rib injury and the Freddy injury. No coincidence.

  3. This is not going to be a popular opinion, but come on man the bet should be cancelled. There is noway he could of won money on this bet as the odds were to onesided. As Tom stated Miller gets one sack & it is just about breakeven time, Miller gets 2 sacks & now he is oweing you. This guy was the 2nd friggin pick in the draft, even if he had a bad year based on his draft status one would assume he would get at least 4-5 sacks. Maybe Tboner should pay you the money out of stupidity & my initial guess is he is not a betting man but my personal take on this is that there would be no Casino in Vegas that would take this bet & the bet should be cancelled based on the fact that you took advantage of a fellow poster with these effd up odds. I am usually not one to tell people to stiff on bets but these odds were not fair, although I will say if he threw the odds out(I did not read the initial thread) then maybe he should pay you out of pure stupidity/arrogance.

    one word - Maybin

  4. The games always have and always will be won in the trenches - both sides of the ball. This would include a high quality TE and great LB's to go along with great line play. This is where the focus needs to be. The really good teams understand this. The Bills continually miss this........ Getting better with Wood, Levitre, and Darius in the past few drafts. Focus here Mr. Nix, PLEASE!

  5. It's not just a feeling. It is fact.

Fitz was hurt bad in the Washington game. I went to the Cowboys game and had an opportunity to chat wuth Fitz's dad before the game. He told me Ryan could barely walk around the following week. He could not believe he played the next week. He had told Ryan to wear a flack jacket but he refused. You could tell the general fatherly concern. I was a bit surprised he divulged this to me in fear of it getting out to the opposing teams. I kept it under wrap until now. Some other things I learned: Ryan wears his ring during the game because he fears if he takes it off he wil loose it. Ryan scored 1580 out of 1600 on his SAT without really studying for it. His wife is the smarter one in the house. He got his intelligence from his mom. It was a nice chat with a really nice regular type guy. His dad also missed the awesome tailgating that happens at the Ralph but certainly not in Jerry's Parking lots..... He loves and admires the spirit and dedication of Bills Nation.

Broken ribs can be really painful and he is likely still playing through this pain. He also watches Thigpen in practice and probably realizes the Bills will never win with him.

  6. Offense : Left guard (and arguably one of the best in the league) playing left tackle, back up guard playing what was one of the stronger positions Center now hurt.

Defense: The only pro-bowler on the team other than punter out for the year.......

Lack of depth is problematic for sure. But two left tackles down and your stud nose tackle out is difficult to overcome.

    BTW. Hairston was dressed today.

  7. I always said I would not give Jerry one stinking penny. With free tickets and parking pass I can keep that promise (mostly). Just might have to spring for a round or two :)

Really exciting to be that close to my beloved Bills. I just hope Chan has his head out of his butt this week. Dallas secondary is suspect along with their run defense so I am hoping for big day from Freddy and Fitz. Speaking of Fitz. My cousin's son runs a print shop in Buffalo. He created a T-shirt and sent me one. It will be worn to the game tomorrow.

    Throwin'

    Fitz

  8. I tell you, not all in-laws are a problem......... My brother-in-law gave me his 4 tickets + parking pass for the game tomorrow. I will be going with my two sons (28/26) who are life long Bills fans (thanks to me). Also, as luck would have it, a life long friend from Amherst happens to be in town for the birth of his grandson will be going with us. Go Buffalo!!!!!!!

  9. I am not convinced he is first round material but certainly worthy of consideration for 2nd or 3rd. He IS a gamer and is very intelligent. He has a great group of receivers and the Aggies are a threat to run every play. Sherman is running a pro style multiple wide receiver offense very similar to what we run. Tannehill does a pretty good job in it. I would be on board drafting him in round 2or 3.

As for Von Miller, you my friend are spot on my opinion. I watched Von every game. He is quick and quite often was involved in a game changing play. But his size scared me for the NFL. After seeing Maybin as an under sized Speed rushing DE, I was scared the Bills might select after the hype right before draft day. Yes, thank you very much Denver. Darius is truly what we needed to fix the run.

And yes I am an Aggies fan. They took a good chunk of my retirement savings to educate my son. But the investment netted me an awesome Aggie daughter in-law. Gig 'em.

And a extremely well educated grown man.

  10. I don't think they really knew what a gem Freddy really was. They did pick the best player available i.e. Spiller. It is comforting to know he is in the backup role should Freddy need a week or two off. Running backs are historically injury prone. You just cannot have enough of them. I think we will see the fruits of Spiller, albeit not as soon as a 1st round pick would normally be expected to contribute. But that day will come. Although I wish Freddy could continue to perform at his current level for another 3 or 4 years............... It is unlikely to happen. Enjoy the Freddy show now and prepare for the Spiller show in the future.

  11. I think that this game will very much be the test we expected last week, momentum can be a deciding factor. It looked like our rush D has greatly improved, yet we got burned on the edge 4 times again. Only one of those was due to à missed tackle. The big danger with mcfadden is edge. Contain the edge is going to be à huge factor.

Also our oline will be put to the test for real. Fitz does seem to be decent in situations like that though.

Homefield, timezone advantage and normal prep time gives us the bookie advantage, still this has tight game written allover.

    Kelsay = REAL edge liability!!!!

  12. Poz was a huge fan favorite but the reality of the situation was just as you described. He can't cover TEs and RBs. To many times he was on the wrong end of a highlight clip. I'm trying to remember exactly but Buffalo gave up TDs to opposing TEs for 5, 6, 7 or more weeks straight at one point last season. Poz was got burned by every one.

Poz and 'lil Donte got burned a multitude of times. Both are gone now. Bigger really is better.

  13. I thought Trent Edwards was a failure as a quarterback too.

But I tend to think that it's a tad unfair to blame him for all of the problems we're having on defense almost three months after we waived him.

Granted his suckitude infected the entire roster but at some point, we have to stop pointing fingers at the glove-wearing Mary and direct our wrath elsewhere.

    wrong Edwards.............

  14. Sorry but can't let this go. You are an idiot. I am guessing you have not completed high school (although you should have 20 years ago). Being a tough guy gets you far in life.............. :wallbash:

It's the parents fault for putting him in a bad situation.

OF COURSE HE GOT HARASSED, HE WAS WEARING THE OPPOSING TEAMS JERSEY!

Maybe for their next trick, they can dress him up as a KKK member and drop him off in the ghetto and see what happens.

To be clear I'm not saying the kid deserved it.

I am saying it is so 100% completely predictable that he would get harassed that the parents should never have dressed him up as a Jet and taken him there in the first place.

What terrible parents. Worst parents ever. You've got a crybaby mom who makes a huge deal out of it and writes a letter to the paper just so she can get a moment in the spotlight. Now all the other kids at school know he is a crybaby and his mom is a crybaby and his dad is a wuss and he will get ridiculed badly over this. That is certain. His dad is a spineless wimp who lets strangers physically abuse his son right in front of him in the parking lot and doesn't do anything about it.

This poor kid has no chance.

  15. One thing that was missing from our usual NE* debacle was the lack of Wilfork blowing up nearly every play and creating his "take it to the bank" turn over. Did our interior line play improve that much, did the coaching staff intentionally keep plays away from him? Or has he declined that much. I did not pay particular attention to this detail but would love to hear specifics or theories.

  16. Born in Lockport in 1956.

Raised in Clarence and graduated in 1974.

Went away to college and left Buffalo area after graduation (due to employment).

I have never been able to move back to Buffalo but my heart will always remain there.

I have never (lived in Bradford, PA. Cleveland, Detroit and Toledo, OH) been able to find subs, pizza or wings that compare to Buffalo.

Will go to my grave as a proud Buffalonian that supports the city and its sports teams.

Hey Toledo Bill. I too graduated from Clarence in 1974. Does your last name start with a M?

    Paul from Dallas
