Implying that McD is helpless to correct offensive issues is ridiculous, which is the general take here.

IF that's truly reality, then sorry, but it's time for a head coach than can do that given the ridiculous underachievement/inconsistency on the offensive side.

Monday through Saturday, McD can certainly get in the OC's face and tell him what to do.  But during the game, especially as the defense's play caller, that's pretty much impossible.

It's an argument for why McD shouldn't call play for the Defense, but I think most would agree that the defense looks a lot better this year with him calling the plays than when Frazier was here.  And with all the injuries on defense, McD will have to devote a lot of brain cells to shoring up that unit.  Especially if we are at the stage of "Help us, Obi-Wan Josh Norman, you're our only hope"

Dorsey is going to have to fix this on his own, unfortunately.

  2. Let's not forget it was a sunny day and a 1 PM start time in Miami.  Let's not forget where the bench is placed for the visiting team.

Not only were the Broncos demoralized, they were dehydrated.  Big whoop that the cool fish were able to blast a heat-exhausted team that wasn't that good the begin with.

  3. So I know he can't play for the Bills this year, but is he still allowed to hang around the building, attend practices, watch film, give advice to Josh - i.e. all the stuff an assistant coach does?

So do they still donate to charity for these or did they drop the charity part now?

Also are every other team's little people generic non specific players? They all have double 00 as their numbers except the Bills who have Allen, Knox, and Von Miller.

There's no mention of a charity on any of the sets offered on the web site (at least the teams I clicked on)

This quote is on the Bills' set:

Please note: Purchases of this item on MattelCreations.com are not eligible for and do not contribute to any charitable donation campaigns.

"Despite having more time than average"

Hugeeeee asterisk here. Josh flying around like Superman from pressure from the middle and off the right side, hardly counts as more time, in my book

It also means Josh can't just take the snap and throw.  Down there you get a very small window when a guy is open - then it closes because there are defenders all over the place in the end zone.  There are plenty of plays inside the 5 where Josh takes 7 or 8 seconds to throw it.  Either the first read wasn't open or there was no chance to go to the first read because he already had to duck pressure.

  6. The first year the frenzy for the toys lasted all season.  Last year it was very easy to get some after the first couple of weeks and all season long.

Remember that there is a difference between the ASKING price on ebay and the actual selling price.

    What a wet fart dud.

    Another safety playing linebacker.

Dewand Jones must have a medical flag because that was our chance to rid ourselves of Spencer Brown.

On the PFF draft broadcast they said Jones had a disastrous Pro Day - like some teams literally said they despised the guy and would not take him in any round.  And they had Jones at 31 overall on their Big Board.

  8. The one thing that stood out to me this year, was the number of times Josh would throw the ball to a spot and there were 2 WR's within a few feet of each other there.   And the two were usually Davis and McKenzie To me, that's most likely a coaching issue.  It could be the design of the play by Dorsey and the reads the receivers are making, which would be a Dorsey problem, or it could be what the WR coach is telling them, or it could be that the receivers are incapable of making the correct reads.  But there was a clear problem with people not running the correct routes.

  9. I do think there is something to the idea that Damar was actually a downer, not an upper for the team.  Players have to be constantly optimistic, even when you're down by 40 in the fourth quarter you've got to believe you can come back - and most of these guys actually do feel this way.  So with Damar, you're super optimistic - he's gonna be all right, he'll bounce right back and be the same guy he always was.  Now, a few weeks after the injury, he's an old man on oxygen.  Yes he's alive and thank the Lord for that.  But while we didn't get a disastrous ending with Damar, we're not going to get a happy ending either.  And when you also add in "that could of been me", it takes a mental toll.

A lot of people are expecting to see a few retirements this year, not necessarily all (or even any) from the Bills, due to what happened to Damar.  It has to weigh on you.

  10. I'm wondering if one reason to get Hyde into the 21 day practice window is that now he can actually be on the field and participate with the other DB's - hearing what the coaches are saying and possibly interpreting it for the other players now and on game day.  If he isn't in the window then he has to be "off to the side" and cant participate as fully.

Even if they believe right now there is 0% chance of Hyde playing in the next 3 games, it costs nothing to get him "activated".  The only drawback is they must fully activate him the day after the AFCCG or he is on season ending IR.  And it's possible they might have activated him if they had an extra week but can't bring themselves to pull the trigger on that day.

I loved watching Spencer Brown put in the extra effort to make sure that the kick spot was perfect, lol

Actually I was a little critical of the swiping they were doing.  The place to focus was the kicker's plant foot and where he was standing before the kick - and while the plant area was clear, he was still standing in snow at the snap.

Something they can coach up for future home games.

Certainly the effort was highly praiseworthy.

Two possible options. They are either reading him for the give/pull read OR they think they can just out-run him on the sweep. As the read option game has evolved more and more teams are going to the later in that situation to eliminate a second defender from being able to make a play. Essentially playing 11 on 9 football.

The last section in this article (Q Counter Sweep Read) is talking about the exact concept we ran (we just did it out of two back instead of using a jet motion to get to it). There it talks about reading the end, but more and more teams are going to what I talked about earlier and reading that Mike in that diagram, blocking the concept the same, and assuming they're back will outrun the end on the sweep. You see it a ton at the college and high school level.

In that article you linked to (https://spreadoffensefootball.com/counter-trey-with-jet-motion/) the play was designed for the ball carrier to go between the Guard and Tackle, which Hines did not do.  Do you think the play was intended to actually go wide or did Hines read it wrong?
