George Blanda

He was 43 when he relieved Daryl Lamonica in the AFC Championship game. He played another 5 years but only as a kicker.

I had SF 2 and KC 9. Just needed SF to get the stop in OT. Now another reason to hate the Chiefs

Greg Olsen of FOX's A-team called his last game yesterday as FOX's lead analyst. He will be demoted next year to the B-team to be paired by Joe Davis most likely. He will take a 70% pay cut from $10 million to just $3 million (I know: first-world problems). Tom Brady has been groomed to take his place. Under his 10-year contract, he will make $375 million ($37.5 million a year), which is more than his lifetime NFL salary of $333 million. He will join the A-team of Kevin Burkhardt, Erin Andrews, and Tom Rinaldi.

The lead analysts opening for a network is rare, once in a generation. From the article: "Troy Aikman of ESPN and Cris Collinsworth of NBC Sports, for example, have served as No. 1 color commentators for 22 straight seasons. Super Bowl LVIII analyst Tony Romo is wrapping his seventh season at CBS Sports. His predecessor, Phil Simms, held the job for 19 years.".
The sad part is Olsen, by all accounts, has been outstanding at his job:
"Olsen has been a revelation in his three seasons on the air. He’s become a fan favorite on social media—with some calling for Fox to keep him in the top job, Brady or no Brady.
In his first season as lead analyst, Olsen called the NFL’s most-watched Super Bowl and regular-season game of all time, winning the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Personality—Emerging On-Air Talent.”"
The article said Olsen was taking it all in stride and respects the GOAT.
Tom Brady has also been working hard preparing for his new role, asking Troy Aikman, Joe Buck, and New England play-by-play announcer Sott Zolak for help.
Brady was also potted at a dinner with Erin Andrews in November, preparing for his new gig:

I am so grateful that most AFC games are on CBS

Flowers doesn't fumble away that TD it's entirely possible the game goes a lot different. Chiefs defense is good and you have to come away with points when you get your chances. Ask me how I know.
If Flowers didn't have that stupid taunting penalty they would have already scored before it ever go to the fumble play.

One, the Bills have invested draft capital on the defense. Off the top of my head, Rousseau, Dorian Williams, Elam and Bernard are all playing on rookie contracts.
Here is one thing O'Halloran says about that:
QuoteFrom 2019-23, in rounds 1-4, the area where immediate starters are generally found, the Bills have drafted seven defensive players. Compare to that this weekend’s conference finalists: Detroit has 15, Baltimore 14, Kansas City 13 and San Francisco five.
-
Ryan O'Halloran: Free-agent, cap situation means Brandon Beane has to get defensive in draft
QuoteShould they go defense, defense, defense in rounds 1-3? Yes. I hear about needing to add a receiver, but address that with a veteran. This should be a passing game that goes through Kincaid more than a second receiver, anyway.
That doesn't seem to jibe with the general sentiment on this board. Please read the article first, then discuss.

Well, creating twitter fodder is basically their job description.

No offensive coordinator in the league will turn down a great WR if one is available. He might lean more to running than passing, but put CeeDee Lamb or JaMarr Chase or Justin Jefferson on his team and he'll find a way to toss him a few passes.

Note that this occurred after the Chargers game at the end of the regular season, not this week's Bills game

Thirty-five defensive players logged at least 10 snaps for the Bills and Chiefs on Sunday. Seven of the eight oldest played for Buffalo: Linval Joseph (35), Von Miller (34), Micah Hyde (33), Jordan Poyer (32), A.J. Klein (32), DaQuan Jones (32) and Leonard Floyd (31).

Pretty telling statistic

I'd love the Bills to take a WR in round 1, but don't know the college players myself so wouldn't hazard a guess on who we should or shouldn't take. If a WR is there that we have ranked at least in top 35 overall I'd have to consider him, but don't want to reach, especially if a guy we have ranked in top 20 fell to us even if at a different position.
Here is Bucky Brooks mock draft - he has us taking Cooper DeJean at 28 (DB from Iowa)
https://www.nfl.com/news/bucky-brooks-2024-nfl-mock-draft-1-0
Here are the pass catchers he mocks in the first round
4 - WR Marvin Harrison Jr to Arizona
5 - TE Brock Bowers to LA Chargers
6 - WR Rome Odunze to NY Giants
15 - WR Malik Nabers to Indianapolis
18 - WR Brian Thomas Jr to Concinnati
26 - WR Keon Coleman to Tampa Bay

Why do I believe he was better tonight that in the 13 seconds game? In that game, Allen by and large took advantage of the Chiefs falling over each other. Numerous slips and blown coverages. In this game, Allen was methodical tonight.
I do think that point is spot on. The Chiefs defense tonight is MUCH better than the one they fielded in the 13 second game. And especially the coverage on Gabe Davis in that game - the DB covering Davis was horrible.

One of these years they're gonna pair Mahomes with a Randy Moss type of WR and legit 2 & 3 weapons similar to that 07 Pats offense, and he's gonna cook the entire league.
What if the Bills do it first?

With apologies, I still don't think he is a willing tackler, and it is an obvious and significant flaw.
I hope he gets better.
On the play where he got run over, he was obviously willing. It takes some guts to stand there and get blasted by a bigger dude.
After the game in an interview, he said his feet were cold when he first went in from just standing around on the sideline. Until the INT he was clearly bad throughout his first drive. But at least from watching the TV, the only other time I can recall him on a play was on the INT that he dropped, and that wasn't an easy catch. Generally, a CB who doesn't get his name called must be doing something right.
He was quite below average in the early part of the season, which the Bills have attributed to his ankle injury (at least publicly). Hopefully he will have more to offer if called upon again during the playoffs.

The playoff schedule was determined less than a week ago. Seems like they could’ve checked the weather report.Plus the other game is in dome. It is not like it is two outdoor games in northeast and/or upper mid west. They had all the flexibility in the world.
I would think that Peacock was given the choice of which game they wanted, since they ponied up so much cash for the right to have this exclusive. And the Peacock game was always going to be Saturday night.
The NFL in general LOVES these games in bad weather. Makes for great TV, especially in places that don't really experience winter.

The frozen locusts will have the same impact as frozen iguanas. They will pour down from the sky, lowering visibility and rendering footing challenging. During periods of heavy locust precipitation, the trajectory of the ball during a pass or kick may be affected.
The helmet-wearing players on the field will not be impacted too much by the frozen locust fall, but coaches and players on the bench should consider protective headgear for the game.
I must admit I did not consider the possibility of frozen locusts falling from the sky. I only considered the possibility of the locusts flying into the stadium on their own.
Excellent point!
