There was a radio host on WGR that use to say fans called in saying Jim Kelly should be benched. Probably posters on this board.

Kelly did need to be benched his final season. He lost “it” while we still, somehow, had a strong supporting cast. I say somehow because during that time of free agency, it was virtually impossible to keep a core together like we did. Jimbo was a wreck that final season.

Anyone who thinks that Allen is not a top 5 QB is a numb skull and not a true Bills fan and should be banned immediately.

1000% agree. They are the equivalent of knuckle-dragging troglodytes if they think this man doesn’t belong. His elbow is (currently) jacked and needs time. He cannot do more harm to it by throwing, so let him play. This line is not capable of blocking for a statue at quarterback if we play Keenum we lose.

  2. I’d expect our defense to start mixing in different, situationally appropriate blitz packages for the rest of the season - as needed. However, we’ve been slow, very slow, in recognizing screens and this will make the defensive play caller hesitant to dial-up these plays. Aside - I was surprised to see Bernard, Dodson, and Milano playing together early in the game against Cleveland, while Cleveland was deep in their own territory, too. It wasn’t many plays and they had a difficult time getting set before the snap, which is disconcerting that it happened, but likely a result of almost no real practice time together the week prior.

  3. Johnson has proven himself to be incapable of being a starting safety in the NFL, which is unfortunate. Actually…he’s not capable of backing up in the NFL. When an NFL player can’t get pursuit angles down it’s a major red flag. I hate it for him because I loved watching him at Miami. He was a tough MF’er and I thought it would translate to the league. We’ll see (of course) but my prediction is that he’s not brought back to the team next year. I mean, he’s a UDFA, I think, but I don’t think he’s anyone they want to bring back. He was replaced by a marginal pro talent, out of position, who was getting burned all game, in Cam Lewis. So, let’s hope one of the kids can work their way into the lineup in Hamlin. Sorry I turned this into a JJ disappointment response to DH, I’m

seeing a therapist about how disappointing Johnson’s been and she said it’s better to talk about it than to keep it locked up inside me. Then again, I probably shouldn’t call my “bingo buddy” my therapist.

Rodgers isn't coming with squat. His head is fried, he acts like he's too good for Packers (and maybe skill wise he's not wrong). Let me put it like this.

I'll take "Washed up former NFL greats for $800."

This QB was once great, however has eaten all the Packers cap money, decided he doesn't want to teach rookies, is more worried about outside football interests and found Legumus The God of Mushrooms.

    "Who is A-a-ron Rodgers?"

    Love it!!!

It's an interesting idea.  Not sure either side would want or go for it.  But if they did, the appeal from the NFLPA side would be that the 5th year options are fully guaranteed.  Obviously for a 2nd round pick who became a breakout star, that still represents a pay cut.  But if a 5th-year option was added across the board, setting it to the 32nd pick at least makes it somewhat "fair" for the player.

I think the problem is that most teams have a pretty good idea of a player's upcoming market value, and they would only pick up the 5th year option if it represented a pay cut.  So like others have said, this would be something the NFLPA would fight against.  Having said that:  Sports unions are often willing to bargain away the rights of undrafted players (who aren't actually union members yet).  So if the proposal didn't apply to guys currently on rookie contracts, but only future draft classes, it could potentially be on the table.

So my idea is that they have to designate them before they sign the original contract, and the 5th year becomes and option, BUT the player also gets the much higher salaries of a first rounder in the original contract. The 5th year options are not lowball 1 year contracts, either. Look at what Terrell is making this year and what Oliver is making next…it’s good money.

  6. They’re drafted in their original spot, only the terms are changed. “Pick 45 would be paid as pick 32 and the team holds their rights for the additional year”

You’re not leaping over another team, no picks change hands.

And the player receives a higher compensation and the guaranteed salary.

  7. Hear me out…it’s bye-week and I’m bored

Teams always jump on those last few picks of the first round, because they want to be able to  lock a player up for that additional year of control over their rights - that 5th year. Let’s say we allow teams to offer players a salary slot of the last pick of the 1st round to all players drafted, (after round 1, of course) so that they hold their rights for the additional year, and the player is compensated “fairly” for allowing the team to do-so. When guys fall and in the intro press conference, when you hear the inevitable “we had a first round grade on…” they can prove it.

Without reading any replies I'm going to go with...

Aaron Schobel: a highly underrated player. Sack master and also racked up a lot of tackles. Effective against the run too.

Jason Peters: As much as I love Dawkins, how are you going to turn down a HOF left tackle? Biggest mistake not paying this guy what he was worth.

Terrence McGee: GREAT return specialist and would be awesome paired up with Tre White as a #2.

I mostly went with positions of need. Honorable mentions would be Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher, Fred Jackson, and Prime Nate Clements.

IDK. This is kind of a weak list lol no offense

    How did I forget Moulds???

You didn’t “forget Moulds” because Eric wasn’t a part of the drought.

  9. In the current NFL, I’d vote for both Clements and McGee. McGee would double as a great return man (kickoffs). Specifically to our defense, I’d pick Fletcher over Spikes and if you look at his career stats, he compares to Ray Lewis. I loved Aaron but I’d beef up the secondary in this age of the NFL. And I’d take Fletcher every day of the year over Edmunds. Edmunds seems like a good kid, but he’s a feckless leader and if you watched the sidelines during the Jags game, he was curled up at the end of the bench, to himself, and not acting as any kind of leader whatsoever. And if this is about drought era players, why is everyone throwing Moulds and Winfield in here? My God what our team would be with those guys…

I was aware of it because Kaiir himself talked about it. He said he was determined not to fall into those ways and that he learned from their mistakes.

I know firsthand that it is possible to make the decision to not be the same as your predecessors. It’s the best motivator.

You are a good man. This is a very poignant comment.

  11. So, the food was good. I am a fried chicken fiend and it was the absolute hottest, freshest fried chicken I’ve ever had. Burned the ever-living hell out of my tongue. Good buffet overall and the staff knew everyone who entered the place by their first names. The kind of place I’d eat at regularly if it were closer.
