Im confused about your first bullet point. I was big on him in the draft but he has looked nothing but meh this year. I’ve regretting drafting him in fantasy.

I thought Detroit would look more impressive.

We had some pieces but the 2018 defense was not good. We gave up 47 to Baltimore, 31 to the Chargers, 37 to Indi, 41 to Chicago, 27 to NYJ, etc. There was only a few games all season where we kept a team to under 3 TD’s.

I was a Tyrod fan, mainly because he was a break-up in the monotony of QB’s we had up until that point… but you are 100% correct. This was Tyrod’s biggest fault. He was the anti-Josh. Anti gunslinger. You better be wide freaking open for you weren’t getting the ball as a receiver. The straw that broke the camels back was that Jacksonville playoff game. It’s the 4th quarter, with a minute left, we have 3 points, and he STILL couldn’t bring himself to throw anywhere even remotely dangerous in order to generate some points. He would rather lose a playoff game than throw the ball. To be fair though, that offense has no business being in the playoffs.

Excellent post. I especially resonate with the end.

And that’s certainly coaches prerogative to give coach speech. But that shouldn’t stop reporters from doing their job. -

Yes. They are just complete softball questions that tell us NOTHING. There is literally no point in the reporters even being there, because they refuse to ask questions that elicit anything but a superficial understanding of any given topic. -

Great question, and speaking from a fans perspective, here are a few questions I wouldn’t mind reading about. Nothing incredible, but at least they elicit some thought from the coach: 1) Entering the 13th week, I’d imagine that the majority of the playbook has been used at this point. How much (if any) does that play into strategy going forward? Do coaches feel the need to keep creating new iterations of plays in the same situation, or are you happy to go back to plays from early in the season at this point? 2) In the past, snow games had led to quite a bit of slipping by Bills players. The Cinci game comes to mind. What processes have been implemented since this game to make sure that each player will have the right cleats to avoid slipping? (ie: Have you tested various cleat and stud sizes to see what works best? Spoken to the manufacturers? Reached to other teams in harsh climates like GB?). 3) Due to the nature of Milano’s injury (biceps), what part of a LB’ers duties and responsibilities are likely to be most impacted in their comeback from this type of injury? Follow up: How long, based on your decade plus of coaching in the NFL, does it take for a player with such an injury to overcome these temporary limitations? 4) We know that players often go on vacation, visit family, etc on the bye week. Did the coaching staff do the same, or did they decide to stay back in Buffalo and start looking at game film for future opponents, or reviewing past game film to find tendencies that the team needs to get improve on? Stuff I do not care about: - What Taron Johnson’s leadership can show to young people - How happy it makes McD to see the current WR’s (what else could he say other than “great”?). - Leading questions or in general, any question that leads to an answer with only possibility. -

Youre right and I don’t know why I bother anymore. True journalism is dead in this city. -

Listening to this press conference is brutal. We have the worst local reporters. Reporter: “Coach, how much do you enjoy watching this talent group of receivers play?” McD: “Yeah, I like it” Another reporter (Sal): “How much can Taron’s leadership show to young people how to be a leader?” Mcd: “Yeah, he’s a great leader. What else is there to say that hasn’t been said. Great leader.” Just absolutely worthless questions. -

Weather is an equalizer. You don’t want a game to be equalized when you are rooting for the better team. -

Yeah! And I like being on the outside of one of these debates for once. Although, i’d question Turks wisdom in debating the topic of weather with someone whose name is TheWeatherMan… -

Enough of the mumbo jumbo, what’s it gonna be? And we want minute by minute. -
But a couple years ago we had this guy 😀

Or i’m wrong on my date. I’m going off memory too.

Wouldn’t it be 10% of the seats in 30% of the time they have to sell them? March 15 2024 - July 1 2026 (opening date) = 119 weeks. It has been 36 weeks since March 15th. That’s 30%.
-
I knew they were in trouble when Pete said the sales rate was down to 60% or so. Losing 40% of your customer base means you have to go through a lot more sales sessions to break even.

Now that you mention it… 2018 Allen (11.5 games) 2,700 total yards, 18 total TD’s, 12 INT’s 2024 Mahomes (11 games) 2,800 total yards, 19 TD’s, 11 INT’s

the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems
Einstein replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
If that’s true, then i’m not sure how Mara can scapegoat Schoen. If he is an honest man. -
Wanna know the funny part? Allen didn’t even throw an astronomical amount of interceptions that year. He had 12. Which is… *checks notes* … only 1 more INT than Mahomes has thrown through 11 games this season. So… in Saul’s mind, the Bills only won 6 games that year because Allen threw 1 more INT than Mahomes has thrown while leading the Chiefs to a 10-1 record. There is no amount of LSD or DMT that could make that logic make sense. Saul is just twisting in the wind. .

Rookie’s will do that. Thats why they sat Mahomes his rookie year too. Difference is, KC didn’t need a jumpstart by starting their rookie. Because Mahomes was drafted to a multi-year playoff team. The fact that you’re hanging your hat on a 9-7 season where the Bills lost 5 of their last 9 and wins came against a 5-11 Jets team, 5-11 Broncos, 5-11 Bucs, 6-10 Raiders, 4-12 Colts, and 6-10 Dolphins (twice). That’s right - 7 of the 9 wins that season came against teams with a 6-10 or wore record. They won TWO total games against teams with a 7-9 or better record. That’s what you’re hanging your hat on. All in an effort to not admit that Mahomes was drafted into the most luxurious, soft, perfect situation in NFL history, while Allen was drafted onto a team with a first time head defensive coach, who just fired their OC, and had no receiving weapons, and had misses the playoffs for 18 of the past 19 seasons.
-
No. He was not. He was drafted into a 6-10 team that lucked out and won a couple extra games than they should have. Happens every year that a team overachieves. Proof? The Bills went 6-10 that following year. Heck, the only reason Allen became the starter that year (the plan was to sit him like Mahomes did the first year) is because we were SO BAD that they tried to find a spark any way possible. Youre just making things up.

the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems
Einstein replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was their chance… They made their choice. And watching Hard Knocks, it’s pretty clear to see that Giants ownership lets Schoen and Daboll the ship. He was not in favor of letting Barkley go but Schoen did anyway. -
That’s a huge understatement. It was not just player talent, but also coaching, and organizational stability, and sitting behind a rather good QB and learning from him for an entire year. Mahomes sat for an entire season and was coached up by the greatest offensive coach the NFL has ever seen. Allen has all of Mahomes rings if the roles were reversed. The Bills backed into the playoffs that year due to a miracle by Tyler Boyd. They lost 5 of their last 9 games and was a 4th down TD, scored from MIDFIELD, away from not making it. And then they scored 3 total points points in the playoffs. We made it by luck, not because the team was good.
-
Allen was SEVERELY handicapped in terms of where he was drafted compared to Mahomes. In fact, I can’t think of a player in NFL history who had a softer or easier landing to the NFL than Mahomes had. Mahomes walked into: - HOF offensive head coach - HOF Tight End - HOF Wide Receiver - An above average QB to learn from - A team that had gone to the playoffs 4 of the previous 5 years (including the divisional round in 2 of those years). Allen walked into: - First time defensive head coach - Zero good WR’s - Zero good TE’s - Nathan freaking Peterman to learn from - A team that had gone to the playoffs 1 time in the past TWO DECADES. Put simply? Mahomes just had to take a team that had been knocking on the door for several years , over that hump. Mahomes started on Level 8, on a quest on Level 10. Allen started at Level 0. It’s actually incredible to think about how Allen has matched Mahomes in nearly every statistic despite the odds against him. If Allen was drafted to the Chiefs and Mahomes was drafted here, Allen would have the rings and Mahomes would be thought of as the guy who just couldn’t get past Allen.
