What gets me is it’s towards the end of the 3rd quarter we’re up 27-10 and we’re dropping back passing as if we’re down 17 points… Isn’t that the time to be running the ball trying  to run time off the clock yet we’re just dropping back every play slinging it all over… I just don’t get it

We did the same in the second half against the Packers. It’s as though they were up a ton, by consistently running the ball, and we were chasing the game. If it doesn’t stand out now it never will - we cannot trust Josh’s passing game.

    We will be fine.

Our Opponents W-L total for the season so far is 50-33.

We have a +99 Point differential throughout that stretch.  The best in the NFL (pending the eagles game final, they are +90)

For some context, here are Miami and KC's.  The teams I think most people would consider our main roadblocks to home field.

    Miami 45-37

Pt Dif: +11    Obviously, that is not a fair representation of their capabilities when healthy with Tua.  I am just pointing out the facts so far this season

    KC 40-44-1

Pt Dif: +64     What we are thought was going to be a juggernaut of a division is proving to be more of a cakewalk for the Chiefs and the entire AFC East is over 500.

We are playing a First Place Schedule and the results are still there.  6-3 through 9 games played. Beat all 3 other AFC divisional leaders so far.  We still have a chance to split with the Jets and the Dolphins when we get them at home.

I think the Bills will rattle off a few wins in the coming weeks and people will look back to the past two weeks and realize they were 3 point losses against pretty good football teams.

In both cases we beat ourselves rather than we’re beaten. A positive in that we should be able to turn it around, but mentally we don’t look prepared, and haven’t since the second half of the Steelers game.

  3. On the stages of sporting grief I’m currently at anger and it’s twenty to one in the morning here but I can’t shake this albeit controversial opinion…

I don’t trust Josh. Physically he’s the best Quarterback in the league bar none. Mentally he’s one of the worst. He’s coming across as having no respect for the ball or the opposition. The picks that he’s throwing are, for the most part, ridiculous. He seems incapable of learning lessons offered in preceding games.  He is not a rookie but, more often that not, he plays like one.

He could put five hundred yards and 10 touchdowns on the Browns and I still won’t trust him. This hero play is always there, under the surface, and it appears far too often for him to be anything about a thrilling, talented player but with flaws which means he won’t match expectations. I thought he was turning himself around with the run from the Wildcard game to the first half of the Packers, which hurts the most and is probably why I’m so fed up now.

I’m pretty sure all the others on the list could also have more interceptions. They could also have fewer, including Josh. What matters is what number they do have. If I know Josh he’s pissed about this and will work hard to correct it.

He should have been after the Packers. He should have been after the Jets. Nothing's changed.

Well he used to be a a CB. Apparently he's a Safety now?

To answer your question though - No, the bad player is not to blame for making a bad play. The person who put the bad player in the position to make the bad play is to blame. Coincidentally, he's also the person that put the good player in the position to make the bad play the last time this same exact thing happened, and the time before that, and the time before that, and the time before that, etc.

True - he switched positions out of necessity due to injuries.

I don't think Lewis made a bad play as of such; nine times out of ten he would have come down with the ball. I don't think anyone expected Jefferson to do what he did, Jefferson included.

I appreciate what you are saying about the coaching but the difference for me is the defense rectified the error, to a degree, by holding them up on the line. Josh made an error in fumbling the ball and then compounded the error but throwing the interception. And it wasn't a difficult interception or an all or bust throw like the first INT. It was a stupid play in a ridiculous situation.

    • Diggs was openly vocal and there was enough chatter even here that people knew he was upset at the pay day every other WR was getting while the team kept telling him he was the fundamental part of our future. this was causing an issue in the room, not a major issue but still an issue.
    • Araiza was a hiccup for the team focused on dialing it in for the season. it never seemed to cause an effect on anyone, though.
    • Poyer isn't malcontent but it is a known issue on the team he wants the deal, and some frustration was there that we brought in some outside help before bringing him to the table. common knowledge, as well.
    • Beasley was talked about enough and enough chatter came out of the locker room and team to verify this.

Of all the stuff you say is wrong - which is easily backed up by whats in the media and fanbase - you openly agree with something that was kept very much behind the scenes - Daboll being upset. i found that funny because so little was said of that and the only glimpse was the Miami coach bringing it up to go to the Giants.

you don't have to take my word for it but i hear enough from the team about the team from people that i don't just make things up.

you can say "journalist" about Wawrow but if you've met him and had a conversation with him you would understand why he says things the way he does. if he is making an off the cuff statement at all then he is frustrated and knows his sources are strong enough he can make a vague statement. the guy doesn't post rubbish - he cannot due to AP policy. (he must have a direct source and verification of said source if not a second source...and if someone is talking to him there is some problems in the team).

Then reveal all or stay quiet. Don't prod the hornet's nest then run away saying he can't say more. Pathetic attention seeking and little more from him.

    You really don't see it?

You giving the defense credit for making an "amazing" play that they never would have had to make had they made the easy one. The difference between their "amazing" play and the easy one they failed to make is that the "amazing" one required the offense to snap the ball into their endzone, and the easy one didn't.

You created a situation (strawman) where the it's the offense's fault they lost the game when the defense presented them with a situation where a kneel-down was impossible. You did this not because it's the truth, but because it's easier to defeat that argument.

The defense offered a difficult position but not a horrible position. All Josh had to do was clasp the ball. If he managed it, he failed.

Please tell me how the defense were to blame for his interception in over time? I'm dying to know.

Who cares if he admits it?  Is that supposed to make me feel better about it?

    Just stop doing it! 😡

    This is where I am.

OK, he said he played badly in the second half against Green Bay - he'll learn his lesson, fair play.

Hmmm, I've heard his post Jets before from him, but at least he's taking the blame like he should.

FFS, this is the third week in a row, enough with SAYING that you were bad, Josh, and actually follow up the interviews with actions.

If he mucks up again agianst Cleveland in inexcusable circumstances, patience will be running thin. It shouldn't be that difficult to do the simple stuff right and not ram the ball three times in three games right down a defensive player's throat.

    Sorry, rant over. 😔

Ok, you’re locked in on one target and will not accept that Lewis made the wrong play.  A play that if made basically ends the game. I agree with you that Josh’s errors were inexcusable but this circus sideshow of a game was not a solo performance. It took an ensemble performance of silliness that caused them to Sh$t down their legs.

Ok, but it goes beyond Lewis’ error as well but there is a real fixation on it.

Our idiot DB did the wrong thing, he made the wrong play. Whether it be coaching not telling him to knock it down or a decision he made by himself. It was the wrong play.

Our QBs last pass is a different comedy of errors. Two wrongs don’t make a right. It is possible, now bear with me, multiple parties on the Bills are to blame for this loss. A porous D between the 10s unable to generate a pass rush and adjust to 1 guy that was consistently killing is, terrible play calling on both sides of the ball, basically abandoning the running game and terrible offensive execution when it mattered.

It’s not just one pass from Josh though, is it? He’s repeated the same mistake three weeks in a row. In comparison, Cam Lewis is not good enough to be on the field for a Super Bowl contender but needs must. He got himself in a good position, did the natural thing of looking for an interception in the heat of the moment and got undone by a fluke play.

Yes, others made errors, but Josh made two completely inexcusable ones, even if I let him off the first interception. They’re mistakes you wouldn’t expect a rookie to make regularly. You get paid the big bucks then basic execution should surely be the minimum requirement.

If the defense makes a stop on 4th and 18 it's game over. I guess that was too much to ask from Frazier. He likes to make games interesting with 13 seconds, Hail Murray and the like.

Our defense is always going to have issues when down Hyde, White, Poyer, Rousseau and Edmunds. That’s too many starters for any team to carry. As it is, again, Frasier called up a decent design where we should have got an incompletion. The execution was off. Then, in the final play, Dorsey called up a decent design which left Motor free underneath. The execution was off.

Other than not taking the FG over the attempted TD I can’t blame too much on coaching today. With so many players out on defense it was always going to be rough, and the offensive players - particularly Josh - messed the bed when it mattered.

We could have snapped the ball into the end zone in shotgun and maybe even gotten a safety in a worst case and probably still won. How disgraceful to not even execute a snap. Literally all you have to do is not fumble. You can even take a safety and win

I don’t think you’ve read the memo - it’s all Cam Lewis’ fault.

Well, let’s unwrap this pearl of wisdom.

if our idiot DB would have been a team first guy and knocked the ball down we would have taken possession 30 yards up field, so no, no one would have been mad like they were at Milano. Instead our idiot DB goes for the pick because his stats are important and basically helps Jefferson catch the football.

Our ‘idiot’ DB - basically a 6th round (?) practice squad member against one of the best WRs in the game - got im a great position, did what he thought was right and was undone by a fluke play.

Our heroic first round $250m quarterback has, for three weeks in a row, decided the way to win the game is by throwing the ball straight at a defensive player with barely a receiver in sight.
