  1. Every aspect you bros have mentioned is correct. Bad rush defense, bad OL, very bad backs and running game, Daboll, Frazier… and some of you said McDermott too.
We had great expectations at the beginning of the season.. media thought we were one of the SB favorite .. great offense with a MVP caliber QB, great receivers, great defense over all.
Ok, we knew we were lacking at backs position.. but maybe not that bad.. and anyway we had Josh Allen, our MVP caliber QB. I always thought that in order to become a SB contender, everything start with the QB position and honestly i still think we have one of the top 5. Maybe top 3.

But, but, but … to me, the main problem to this team is the lack of BALLS and GRITTY ATTITUDE. And i didn’t start thinking like that right after the MNF loss, i always had this feeling about this team.
We could compete against every team… we have the talent to be a 10-2 team at this moment, a 9-3 at worst, but we are 7-5 because we lost some game because our softness.

And this is not something you can fix… or you have it, or you don’t, i mean the mental strength to play every game and every snap like if it was the last one, a snap that can win or lose a game.
The best teams in every sports have always few players, leaders by example, that drag the rest of the team.. and this beside the talent.

Of course many of you won’t agree with me, i totally respect that, but this is my personal point.

  2. Well… obviously we all know the “weight” about tonight game vs the Pats but after the sunday’s putcome it gained more and more importance. We are 5th at 7-4 and with the wins of Pitts and KC all the four ahead of us in the Conference standing are 8-4.

Winning tonight would be beyond than huge… i can say crucial for our moment and season expectations. After yesterday scores tonight we can’t really miss the chance to regain the lead the Division first and the credit in the Conference and League.

We are the better team ? Everybody here think yes, me too, but almost everybody here is really worried about the tonight result. Josh and company will feel the high stake too… i really hope they will be able to play in control of their emotion, using all their energies on the field playing a great and smart game, don’t having any regret at the end.

The refs ? Well… let’s stop to think little and start thinking big, we can control our future tonight and playing a great game won’t let the refs control it. But we must play a very smart game, without stupid mistakes.

We play at home, in our house, supported by almost 70k great fans, the very best in sport, let’s make this day a day to remember like the ones of the Marv, Kelly and Bruce time.

LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BILLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ! Let’s make us proud of you guys !!!!!!!

I have to disagree a bit to the people saying you need a good running back. I don't think you do, especially if you're a pass happy team. Part of running the no huddle is to keep the defense from making substitutions. It keeps the defense on their toes and theoretically wears them down. I'm all for the bills running the no huddle in their current state. I think part of the reason they don't run it is because it doesn't give Allen a chance to read the defense. I think daboll would rather Allen comes to the line and reads the defense, rather than going up tempo and risking mistakes/turnovers. I'm all for the no huddle though

Great to see many of you loved the no huddle O and that think it could work for us. Let’s scary defenses with this super aggressive scheme letting them know that we always play for their throat!

    Two quick comments:

First, it was having the weapon of Thurman Thomas that made the no huddle work, not Kelly.

Second: I’m pretty sure Josh has the ability to change any play at the line of scrimmage. Remember, back in Kelly’s era they didn’t have speakers in the helmet so Jim was on his own out there.

Who knows… maybe with the no huddle our backs would benefit thanks to that and would play better…

If you watch the glory years Bills games, you'll see that for the no-huddle to work you need a RB like Thurman Thomas running behind a strong O line, plus an excellent QB and receivers.  We have the latter two components but not the former two.  Also I think the way plays are called is really different.  Daboll is cooking up route combinations and blocking schemes as the game is underway, and giving that info to Allen.  Kelly often called his own plays, which he could do well at that time but it's a lot more complicated now.

    So, no.  I don't think it's a good idea.

Yes… Allen should have more freedom to call plays here and there, based in what he’s seeing in the fiele and feeling at the moment.

The no huddle would speed up our rhythm and create tons of troubles for defenses.

But i agree that maybe, to do that, you need a couple of very good backs.

I just remember very well the excitement during our drives… it was a beauty to see and enjoy.

Let’s take back that strenght to our Bills !!!

  6. 6 minutes ago, Doc Brown said:

They've run it before but I'd like to see them run it with more frequency.  Josh, like most qb's, are better when they get into a rhythm.  The no huddle can provide that and it's more difficult for defenses to change personnel and adjust on the fly.  On the flip side, a quick three and out in a no huddle isn't ideal against a team like the Patriots who can wear a defense out with those long and methodical drives.  You've got to pick your spots to run it but I agree that it could be something this offense does more.

You right… maybe it’s risky, but exactly like you said, i mean that is something we could use more, not always, to give defenses less time to adjust and harass Allen.

  7. I began watching football in late 80ies, i remember when the Bills were feared for the no huddle offense. I’m wondering if this could be a way to give us a more dangerous offense.

Personally i would love to use it very much more, to speed up the rhythm could affect defenses sets and, avoid the pressure on Allen and give us a different option on offense. What you think ? And again, we have the right men to use the no huddle offense ?

If the team knows it will use 4 downs to get the first down, sure, it definitely is an advantage to have 4 plays to work with to get 10 yards instead of just 3.

That's one of the reasons why it is sometimes much wiser to go for it than to punt the ball.

But would there be some psychological benefit to the players making them play better if you told them to "think like they are going to use 4 downs" ????

I don't think so.  Or if there is one, it's so small as to be insignificant.

Thanks God you really understood what i meant in my post. Of curse i didn’t mean to go for it on a 4th and 5 or 6… if not that you are down by a TD with the game on the line. I just meant to play every possession with this mindset, thinking you have 4 attempts and not three to get the 10 yards. You will focus on get less than 3 yards per attempt and that could be very different.
At the same time the defense would be stressed much more knowing that has to defend for 4 times and not three.

  9. Every time i watch a Bills game, i think this: if i was the HC i would say to my offensive players to play always thinking they have four attempts and not three to get the first down, when they are in opponent’s territory.
I know that lately, always more frequently, we see teams go for it on fourth and one… but i’m talking about having always the mindset to have four attempts and not three to gain the ten yards.
I think it could be mentally different play like this.. it would help to know that you have to get less than three yards per attempt on every down to get the first down.

    What you think ?

However many, I hope the BIlls fans aren't obnoxious idiots and show some respect for the fact that everyone has a right to support their team in any stadium without getting harassed beyond the friendly level.

I saw a little kid in Miami jersey get hit in the ear with a huge snowball from a drunk Bills fan once and it was just ugly.

Totally agree with you. I once was a soccer ultras, i’m talking when i was in my 20ies and i just remember how much i was stupid at home and away games in Italy and across Europe stadiums. Now i’m 50 and fortunately it’s long time i forgot how to be that stupid. Let’s not cross the limits.

  11. I’m from deep north Italy so i know very well winter conditions, snow and wind, today here was sunny but 27f. You call me crazy but Monday night i hope for a super cold night with some snow and no wind at all. Do they have better backs ? So let it snow and relate to passing game, where we have a top five QB and great wideouts.

    My disagreements:

QB - this is a push at best right now based on Jones play and stats during the 6 game win streak vs. Allen. Obviously if Allen can find consistency the rest of the season it's an advantage back to him.

DL - this is Pats easily if anything because they get actual sacks and in bunches.

DB/S - probably a push now with White out. Jackson is a star there and their safeties are nasty too.

K - I'd go with Folk because of his resume until Bass hits some big kicks to win a game which may have to happen in the next few weeks.

ST - Pats - another situation I'm concerned about coming up with our problems at kick returner.

This Pats team is just very strong across the board especially in the areas the Bills have the biggest weaknessess in in the trenches.

Ok… based on your lines it seem it will be a massacre… something like 40-10/17 Pats.

  13. 5 hours ago, RunTheBall said:

It’s simple. If we play disciplined football (penalties and turnovers) and our O-line holds up to a reasonable level, we win. Pats capitalize on turnovers and rarely make them. If Allen gets hit/pressured early he can be rattled. I don’t think he trusts his offensive line so his internal clock has sped up.

Very good point: the very first two or three possessions will be crucial in the game outcome.

Monday night? In Buffalo? My brain says Bills 60/40.. my heart says 75/25 Pats..

score?  Bills 22 Pats 21 Pats miss a last minute FG. Monday night ratings threw the roof for a great game.

See that’s why I thought LB to Bills was weird.. that’s what Judon is OLB

60/40 is ok to me… considering the way we are playing lately … not so good at all.

The Patriots play a 3-4 base D (3 DL and 4 LB).  Judon’s responsibilities as an OLB in that 3-4 are more analogous to a DE in a 4-3.

Judon is a great player.  I coveted him in FA.

Agree on Judon to be a very good player. I’m wondering at what McDermott and Daboll and Frazier will do this week to have the right game plan for this game: to me two main things: protect Allen and hunt Jones almost every snap.
