And one thing the NFL hates is lawsuits - and they will get a ton thrown at them if an attempt to move is made. Also I would expect an attack at the NFL anti-trust status could be in play as well - the NFL wants none of this. -

Why is it ANY concern of yours if a citizen smokes weed or drinks a beer in their own home ??? You are worried about their addiction??? its not an 8 yr old child -its not our concern or worry - NONE! -

More than likely there were many players who smoked in the 30 day period prior but had different ways of hiding it from the test - addiction to marijuana? Kids think they can 'get around' things....Are you really worried he might be smoking at home days before a game? Either he can play or not - if his addiction impacts his play where he no longer can do the job then he gets cut/fired - why the need to test???? -

It is NOT the equivalent of someone having few drinks at an interview - he did not show up stoned at the combine. Its more the equivalent of a person having a drink a few WEEKS before an interview and being tested for it. I agree its dumb not to hold off - but your comparison is poor. The fact that marijuana may no longer be tested (or tested much lower) could bode very well to this 'risk'. Whats really dumb is the NFL even testing for weed at all. Its legal in multiple states, it gives the player no competitive advantage over another, it only gives the NFL a black eye when headline reads star players fail drug test and now it can have the NFL lose the services of a star WR like in Cleveland - over what???? It creates a lose/lose situation -
Thats the point (and title) of the original post - its SIZE & TALENT displayed by the two #1s Two #2s and one #3....these are not a bunch of over weight 6th round draft picks/....

Is weed the only item he failed on testing? Is the NFL now considering lowering the testing on weed? Does this make the selection less risky? -
And yes 4 of the guys indicated were added AFTER the season ended. Or did ya kinda miss that part?

I cant remember the Bills having such a big line and having 2#1's, 2 #2s & 1 #3 on the line - what an incredible contrast to the Tom Donahoe years of the ;donut hole'. LT #2 Gordy Glenn 6'6 345lbs LG #1 Chris Williams 6'6 325lbs C #1 Eric Woods 6'4 310lbs RG #3 Kraig Urbik 6'5 325lbs RT #2 Cyrus Kouandjo 6'7 325lbs backup OG #4 Cyril Richardson 6'4 330lbs backup OT #7 Seantrel Henderson 6'8 345lbs

Cost of Watkins = Typical Media Bias against Buffalo
jahbonas replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Payton Manning and Drew Brees were NOT acquired by their current teams via the draft - circumstances led these veterans to free agency where they signed - BINGO. Similar events might free up a Big Ben or a Sam Bradford etcccc next year Neither the Saints nor the Broncos used a top draft choice to get their QB - they got them by signing on the free agent market. Kurt Warner went to the Cardinals in the same way. Brady - 6th rd pick Brees - free agency Manning - Free Agency Rogers - 20+ pick in rd1 Koepernick - 2nd rd Wislon - 3rd rd -

I'm a big fan of Polian myself - but I have to agree with you. In fact in 1987 era there was no free agency as a 2nd way to improve your team - it was only the draft. Whaley has freed up 55 million for free agent acquisition the next off season -

Why do you assume the ONLY way to bring a quality QB to the Bills next year would be via the draft? Even a similar record would yield us near 10th pick overall - gonna select Andrew Luck with that? There are TWO streams od adding talent each year - free agency and the draft. Next year we dont have a #1 but we will have free $55 million to obtain a veteran if need be. And a talent like Watkins helps attract a talent. Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Kurt Warner a few examples..... -

Even locally it happens. Nobody repeated more often that the Bills gave up too much and sacrificed the future of the franchise more than John Murphy when we did the Cornelius Bennet trade. Up until that trade in 1987 we had been to zero superbowls, won 1 division championship in prior 21 years, missed the playoffs 18 of the prior 21 years. After the trade we made the playoffs 11 of the next 12 years etc etc etc.... -

Explain then the Browns narrative - or did they recently win a Superbowl? -

jahbonas replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly - and put another way - if we had traded a 7th rounder to move up 1 slot to select a player in the 8th slot - NOBODY would report that we gave up a 1 and a 7 for the player selected - we simply gave up a 7 to move up to select. Many media wish to write a story that we gave up too much - so in attempt to match up facts with their opinion they throw in another 1st rd pick.... -
False Reasoning regarding trading 2015 pick
jahbonas replied to jahbonas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair - quick hitter examples Peyton Manning - free Drew Brees - free Kurt Warner - free Michael Vick - free Brett Favre - 3rd rd pick The point is every year quality veterans become available for various reasons injury/salary cap/ etcc - and often can have success when choosing a good situation to jump into such is the situation Whaley is creating -
How many times do we hear the false statement " Do not trade the 2015 1st pick because thats our insurance in case EJ Manuel turns out not to be the guy". This assumes that the ONLY way to obtain a QB is via rookie QB in the draft - FALSE Some QB's not drafted by current team - signed as FA or via trade Denver - qb Peyton Manning not thru draft Bears - qb Jay Cutler KC - qb Alex Smith Saints - qb Drew Brees Raiders - qb Matt Schaub Cards - qb Carson Palmer Veterans can be obtained and can perform well especially when put on a team with plenty of weapons....

Thaler and Massey on why teams should never trade up
jahbonas replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Polian put it very well one night. He said its true that people dont really understand the differences between guys who make it to the NFL and those that cant make it. He said however the far bigger misunderstanding is the difference between elite 1st team all-pro players who always command a double team and players who appear in a pro bowl. Its like playing defense with an extra man and if you get an opportunity for a special 1st team All pro player you take it -

And that poor decision by Donaho trading up for Losman only occurred because he refused to do so earlier .... If the future is 'now' thats the time to pull the trigger - a greater argument could be made that the Patriots for years have cost themselves superbowls by refusing to give Brady that 1 guy to put them over the top,,,, -

And it could be argued it killed our franchise when in the 2004 draft Tom Donahoe decided not to trade up 3 spots to select QB Ben Rothlesberger but instead stood pat and drafted WR Lee Evans. Many of the non playoff years could be attributed to that refusal to trade up. Each situation has to be evaluated on its own Furthermore the 1987 Cornelius Bennett trade was the ultimate 'trade up' in exchange for future draft choices - we had no 1st rd choice in 1988 or 1989 due to the trade. We only went on a string of Division Titles and Superbowl appearances and playoff appearances in 10 of the 11 following years. Polian realized he needed one more piece to put us over the top - the future was 'now' -

Yep you get it !!!!! Wealthy Ontario corporations will keep this all viable by buying for corp boxes in the new stadium. Orchard Park, Buffalo, Amherst does not have the required corporate base - so bring the boxes as close as possible to the buyers of those boxes. The NFL has moved away from 80k fan stadiums to more and more a tv sport and corporate boxes -
Always get a kick out of the arguments that point to 'ratings' or claim 'dont listen' - those are fine except for the little fact they are the ONLY sports show in town - many unsatisfied listeners keep returning in the hope that the ONLY sports alternative has somehow changed/improved and are quickly reminded - same old garbage!! Having said that I will bet WGR has the top ratings during drive times and are the highest rated shows when considering males between ages of 18 -50.

The key is the selling of luxury boxes at high prices to Corporations, Buffalo does not have that corporate base but Toronto does - thats why odds are this whole show moves as close to those corporate buyers as possible and that's the Niagara Falls site.
