Not sure they need to have a presser but they should be proactive helping the kid find a spot to at least have a chance at a spot this year

The fans deserve some clarity. Statements like, we are going to do everything we can to make this right. I want to hear it, it’s only the right thing to do.

Agreed … however, I will always believe (by how Beane discussed the situation) that they believed Araiza.

It became too much, and you can convince me that Beane didn’t get a call from league brass telling him the decision they prefer he make.

Now we are stuck with Martin, this makes me so mad. Ugh

I truly hope this kid gets a chance.  It stinks as that reputation unfairly Carrie’s.  I always get flamed for the “maybe he did it, maybe he didn’t, but let’s wait and see”.

An NFL team has to take the leap.

It’s not enough to say I hope this kid gets a chance. The only way this becomes right is by allowing the Bills to get Araiza back.

Why would he want to return to Buffalo?  They didn't stand by him and they signed someone else while he'd get a minimum contract and could be cut (again).

I have to assume that Araiza was told by management that they believed him, but due to huge amounts of public pressure they had no choice. If Araiza doesn’t want to return, thats fine, but the league needs to give the Bills the 1st option if Araiza wants to return.

Bills own the decision to buckle under pressure and cut him. They own the consequences of their decision.

The whole league and national fan base put loads of pressure that forced this. The NFL has to do the right thing here and let Araiza return to Buffalo if Araiza wants that.

People saying bring him back. Imagine being him, would you want to come back to the team that cut you over something you didn't do?

I'm not blaming the Bills, they had to do it, it's the world we live in.

    Just a ***** situation.

Frankly no, if I was Araiza and knew management couldn’t be with me during the worst of times, they don’t deserve me during the best of times.
I blame crappy bills fans and McD/Beane for caving to a crazy world.

He was also signed for 4 yrs, a bit under $1M per year.

Sam Martin is good.  We lucked out.  He’s at 3 yrs / 2M AAV.

Not that it’s a huge difference,  but that’s an extra million per year on a cash strapped team.

I’m super mad now. I’d much rather have Araiza than Martin. If the NFL doesn’t give us Araiza back, than this is BS.

  8. Now we lost a great talent for all you idiots that couldn’t let the legal process carry on. Guilty until proven innocent isn’t the proper method.
To make the universe right, the NFL should give the Bills the 1st option to have him return.

Latavius isn't going to see the field unless there's an injury. All this talk about what he can do paired with whomever is moot.

He's good for depth in case of an injury. But he will not dress on Sunday's unless that happens. He's this year's TJ Yeldon, Matt Breida, or Duke Johnson. He'll be at best our 4th RB on the 53 who doesn't see the field and at worst our Practice Squad RB.

McDermott has only ever dressed 3 RB's on Sundays. 2 True RB's and one who plays ST's (was Taiwan Jones and Senorise Perry the one year Jones wasn't here). Cook and Harris will dress with Hines providing more offensive capability than previous ST's backs (while still providing ST Return capability).

Nope, guaranteed he sees the field a decent amount this year. If and when will be on primarily 3rd downs. He will be used to block a good amount.

About a third of his carries were when his team was behind 9-16, those resulted in about 43% of his yards.

He averaged 3.7 under more competitive circumstances otherwise.  I wouldn't expect too much.

Cook and Harris will be the beef in our backfield, not sure that Murray's gonna get many carries at all.   I hope that Dorsey gets Hines involved in the passing game.  If Dorsey does this right we could be an absolutely offensive powerhouse.  He's the wild-card.

It will be quite interesting to see how Singletary does in Houston sharing time with Pierce.

Hopefully the chemistry on our OL gels so that we have a synchronized OL limiting the need for extra blocking most of the time.

This is true, but I’m kind of ok with just leaving Latavius back there for good measure. I want Allen sitting comfortably and slinging it all year long. Not many NFL teams have to personnel to handle Diggs, Knox, Kincaid, and Davis all out there running routes.

Having Latavius and Damien on our team is an underrated upgrade. Both are highly capable backs.

  11. Davis was a massive disappointment last year, so if he’s seeing 2nd in targets, we aren’t winning a super bowl. None of this rookie bs, we’ve seen rookies get thrown into the mix right away. If Kincaid isn’t seeing more targets than Davis, then Kincaid was a reach in the 1st.

What’s your standard for his “QB to find him” ?

Looking at just raw stats, Florida’s leading receiver was Ricky Pearsall (33/661/5). Their second leading receiver was Justin Shorter (29/577/2). Their third leading receiver is as Xzavier Henderson (38/410/2).

Pearsall played in 13 games for Florida, Shorter played in 9 games and Henderson played in 11.

    Per Game:

    PEARSALL

    2.5 REC / 51 YDS / 0.38 TD

    SHORTER

    3.2 REC / 64 YDS / 0.22 TD

    HENDERSON

    3.4 REC / 37 YDS / 0.18 TD

Mind you, Florida was 10/14 in the SEC in passing attempts in 2022. Sure, Richardson was a 1st round pick, but it’s not like there was an abundance of opportunity to catch the football. He was 20th in receiving in the SEC as part of an offense that was towards the back half in passing.

They were in the back half of passing because their WRs are trash. When you are back half of passing and yet your QB goes round 1, that’s a major redflag against the quality of receivers.

Yes that is what I was trying to say. It doesn't come down to anything more than he prefers player A to player B and prefers player X to player Y.

People looking for a logical thread that ties it all together won't find one.

I’ve stated my reasons logically. How do we expect Shorter to contribute on this team when he couldn’t even do much on a team that had a 1st round QB?
In a way, I think that’s precisely why some 30% of the league is made up of udfas, because a lot of talented players do things with subpar talent around them but teams are afraid of the competition talent divide. Meanwhile most of your busts are from players with marginal production with great surrounding talent. Which is why I’m concerned about Shorter.

  15. 7 minutes ago, JGMcD2 said:

That’s not the issue Gunner. I don’t feel strongly about Iosivas or Shorter. He can have whatever opinion he wants. It’s the inconsistent standard as to which he’s holding players to prove his point.

    TLDR on his views upthread:

Kincaid ain’t as good as Mayer because Kincaid didn’t make an impact against Florida (SEC School).

Shorter isn’t as good as Iosivas because Iosivas had more yards, receptions and TDs… but doesn’t adjust for the fact that Shorter played in the SEC.

I never said that. I said I was extremely disappointed that Shorter played with a 1st round QB, and still couldn’t separate enough against SEC talent for his QB to find  him. I said Iosivas never had that chance as he didn’t play with Richardson or against SEC teams in the season. What we do know is he was at the senior bowl practices and did well against players like Rush in practice. I just find it really disappointing that Shorter couldn’t do anything of value with Richardson as his QB.
