  1. Netflix is terrible and one of the more pricey options.  Peacock isnt a bad price and has a lot of content.  I don't agree that these should be put on the same terms

Amazon you can watch for free on Twitch.

I can honestly say, I will not be subscribing to Netflix to watch these games.

If this was true then those charts would change because they'd be inaccurate, that's just fundamentally poor logic.

Not sure if you are aware, but there are about 10 or more different charts out there.  Places have tried to change the pick valuations based on recent activity.  The most known one is the Jimmy Johnson, but there are so many other charts out there.

Uh, yes? We extended him before his 5th year option officially kicked in. Maybe it gave us an extra two months to negotiate, but that's all.

Like I said, it's a bargaining chip. The same effect can be had by using the franchise tag if you really need it. The 5th year option is most useful for players like Edmunds or Rousseau where you're not quite sure what you have and you want that one extra year of tape to see if they're worth extending.

No, they did it for the same reason Minnesota swapped one pick with NY at #10 - they got scared we would trade back with someone else (likely aided by a bit of salesmanship from Beane) and they would lose out on getting their guy. This happens all the time.

Again, look at the trade value chart. #31 to #32 is -6 points. #32 to #33 is -4 points. #33 to #34 is -5 points. Teams are telling you that the 5th year option is worth less than the drop off in total contract value.

What are you talking about?  Oliver would have been a UFA.  He would have been negotiating with 31 other teams come March.

The 5th year option is a bargaining chip, it isn't something you make draft decisions around. In fact by the trade value chart the drop off in value from #32 to #33 is slightly LESS than the drop off in value from the adjacent picks just before and after, which signals that GMs see those picks as CLOSER in value. I would guess it's because #33 gets paid about $2.2M less than #32 over the life of their 4 year contract which is not insubstantial.

In general you don't give up almost two full rounds (59 picks) of draft value because you're worried about something that doesn't come into play until 2029 when Josh Allen is 33 years old.

Beane has been on record in the past saying how important the fifth year option was.  Has he even not picked up a 5th year option?  Is Ed Oliver on this team without the fifth year option?

You 100% worry about the fifth year option right now.  It's the reason why Carolina traded up into the first.  Happens every year with teams getting back into the 1st for the 5th year option.

By the Rich Hill trade chart the trade was exactly equal. What makes you think it was bad value?

Exactly, it was even on the trade value chart, which means the Bills shouldn't have done it.  It should have taken a massive overpay to make the trade.

There was an analytics guy after the trade that said the net points the Bills got in this trade, was the 4th worst ever.  These draft trades very rarely end up equal.

The drop off before Kneeland was rather large. He sucks.

Beane did say right after the Bishop pick he was the guy they were trying to get up for and he got lucky that nobody would take his offer because he was about to give picks away unnecessarily. Now that might not have been true, obviously, but I have a tendency to believe him on that.

Agree to disagree on Kneeland.  He is an athlete freak that I think will do really well in the NFL.  He is a 3 down 4-3 DE.  Has the size and arm length you want.

Beane says that every year about players.  It's GM talk.  I wouldn't put any stock into it.  Go re-watch the video, when they are talking amongst each other, they never mention who they are after.  Then when they couldn't move up, Pegula is like, so we are taking Bishop?  If that is who they were after in trying to trade up, why would that even be a question.  Beane then has to "defend" Bishop in saying I think he will be a really good kid.  Kind had the vibes of, we didn't the guy we were after, but this will still be a good player.  Brings me back to the Brad Richards, Ville Leino FA BS back in the day.

  7. I don't like how much power Beane has with the trading of picks.  Seemed like it all ran through him, and not once did he look to analytics guy to see if the deal was a good deal.  Like the KC deal should have never happened, but Beane was so hell bent on getting into the 3rd, the value was terrible for the Bills.

Same situation for the Carolina movement.  The difference between a 5th and 6th was not worth losing the 5th year option.  You draft a player thinking that player will make multiple pro bowls, if you don't think that way, don't draft the player.  The money difference between the 5th year option and a contract extension for a guy like Chase is over 10 million.  Any analytic guy could tell you this.  Instead Beane just pulled the trigger on another dumb trade.

I also don't think the Bills were after Bishop when trying to move up in the 2nd.  The editing made it seem that way, but I bet they were trying to get up for a different player.  Bishop was drafted right where he was projected and was in a tier of a lot of different safeties, like they felt with WR in the first.  I think the drop off after Keenland for edge rushers was pretty large.

Didn't Brady coach in the SEC? Wasn't his receivers at LSU big, physical types?

It's been well documented that Brady was the assistant to the assistant at LSU.  He didn't have say in the offense or personnel.  The WR there were Chase and Jefferson.

  9. Quote

“My brother knew. I told him ‘I’m gonna go do my two-year sentence up there and I’m gonna come back down South for my last year to tear that s--t up,'" Coleman said on the podcast. "I'm gonna go do what I need to do up there, become the person I need to become, learn what I need to learn. I belong down South."

“After that freshman year, I got to play with some great players, but I just felt like I don’t belong up north," Coleman continued. "I’m an SEC, ACC, I’m a down south type of guy. That’s me."

“I didn’t feel like I really liked the offense. I didn’t feel like the Big Ten system fit me as a player,"

The Bills are entering an era of running a Big Ten offense.  It's clear as day with the acquisitions that have come this offseason and how the offense operated when Brady took over.

No. If we add anyone else, it should be at the very least a Courtland Sutton. Someone who is much more impactful than Slayton IMO…or a surprise veteran who is cut around the league

DK Metcalf is who Beane needs to get.

He would be AWESOME with Josh Allen.

    He’s 26, we could extend him until he’s 31

DK & Keon on the outside with Samuel and Shakir inside and Kincaid as well

    that really elevates the group

Slayton is cheaper and a better option for this team than Sutton.

He’s hardly a JAG…He is incredibly talented, and he might be the fastest guy on the team.

That said, his injury history is brutal. If he doesn’t make the team, it’s likely due to medical issues.

23 games, 42 recs, 620 yards, 3 tds.  The definition of a JAG.

I don't know about that. This is a sneaky good signing

Lol, its really not.  He's tiny and constantly injured.  He is a JAG in a league full of these guys.

A guy like Justin Shorter was excellent on special teams and its something Beane mentioned last year when they drafted him.

Unless Hamler can play special teams, he won't be the 6th WR.

I am under the assumption the Bills are adding another body to this group after June 1st.

Yeah because that is something that just the Bills do right?   31 other teams go through the same thing during the draft.  Every pick is not a home run.

Exactly my point.  So why are people acting like Beane and the scouts couldn't have missed again in the 2nd?  I'm bringing up legit concerns about the player, and I'm told that I'm not a scout or GM so whatever I think it meaningless.  So pretty much scouts and Beane never miss so whatever I'm saying is completely wrong because I know nothing.

  14. 8 minutes ago, Taro Nimbus said:

I forgot.   Which team do you scout for???

Definitely not the team that drafted Ford, Basham, and Epenesa in the 2nd round.  Or the team that drafted a third RB in the 2nd after drafting RB in the 3rd the prior two of three years.  Or the team that drafted Elam in the first round.

Some people have actually watched a little more than a YouTube video to assess this guy, myself included and to judge a guy's talents only from social media outlets and YouTube is grossly negligent and irresponsible.

Go back and watch full Michigan State and FSU games (you can find them on YouTube.......apparently, you are a YouTube master, so you'll figure it out) and watch the complete package on this guy. It's not always the plays that you see on highlight reels that highlight his skills, but it's the plays he makes that you won't see on social media outlets.......the blocking, slant routes, etc.

That is all i have to say to you, sir.

I dont know why you are knocking youtube, they literally have full game cuts on there.  It's no different than what scouts are watching.  A cut up scout video is like 20 mins max.  There is so much dead time in a football game.

His blocking is hit and miss.  Some good blocks, and some poor ones.  I did notice that it seemed like he took a few too many plays off for my liking.  Every player in the NFL does, but its something I didn't like with Diggs, so I'm not going to like it with Coleman.

I don't know why I'm getting knocked for having an opinion that MANY really good analytic sites are saying.  If Keon succeeds, it will be an outlier based on how past WR like him have done.  I thought there were more sure bets at WR at 28, who still had flaws, but overall they had the production or tape where you could see it translating.

The overall theme around Keon is a lot lower than what the Bills thought.  Generally speaking, Beane has been terrible in the 2nd round.

Not to mention, Beane thought so highly of Keon, that he had no issue giving up control for a 5th year.  If Beane thought Keon was going to make multiple pro bowls, he wouldn't have given up that 5th year option.  For a guy like Chase, it's saving Cin over 10 million.
