  1. so who appointed Shaq Lawson the supreme judge of a person's character; based on what qualifications...does he rule on other topics than private-stupid-immature thoughts of white kids who grew-up in insulated communities that do not reflect the landscape of the rest of the country ?  Shaq llets move on to higher level thought issues facing society...what else ya got ?

I used to respond to his Pegula screeds asking if he'd treat the Athletic the same way if they ever cut staff? We'll find out, won't we? I'm betting....no.

comparing Athletic mgt to Pegulas ..this is first layoff at Athletic (now 2 years old) ; they dont seem to be cutting staff to maintain a lifestyle and don't seem to be hiring based on family and friends but rather on talent; and just as you do Vogl (who always had the highest reader hits when he was that BN) has the right to his opinion; plus he responds quite frequently to critical comments in his columns including mistakes he has made...

  3. Troll Troll yours is too popular a post with some it seems....but its more than one week...its 100 days of being isolated by an invisible particle that comes to life thru our neglect; followed by 40 million unemployed; then  a $20 dollar crime becomes the crime of the century and the many morgue men of Minny cant even agree on the cause of death....this is what it felt to live 100-200 years ago it seems...haven't we learned anything other than to want to continue to empower the wealthy ,idolize jocks etc

  4. three games at the old War Memorial (Rockpile) including season opener against Cowboys, and the final game ever (21-21 tie against Lions)

three games at Rich in the 1970s including the one where OJ and Braxton ran for over 100 yards each against the Dolphins and we lost 17-0, first and goal from the one and we dont score.

road games in Baltimore against Ravens.

Skipping to two games home games recently one with family and the other was against the Skins this past season as my buddies here in DC wanted to experience the Bills game day tailgating as well as see some of the area...Letchworth Park is known as the Grand Canyon of the East, be sure you make a side trip and experience its beauty.

  5. just after Pegulas bought the Sabres, Tyler Myers rookie year,  here in DC ( at a pub owned by a Buffalonian)  they had a meet and greet  (roadshow) with no players but all coaches including RJ and Harry Howell.  Shook RJ hand and got autograph

So I asked Lindy Ruff what the hardest part about coaching this team...he said..,Winning, keeping guys like me and you happy....he then chugged a bottle of beer - serious

Later I asked Darcy a stupid fan question about trades and in the middle of his response a loud-mouth Sabre fan interrupted with another question...Darcy drank wine from what I recall.

James Patrick (asst coach) was very polite, cordial and talkative.

I also got to meet coach Barry Trotz and his lovely wife at a charity event  the season they won the cup (their son Austin has autism) and we we chatted for 10-15 mins; safe to say the Trotz remember where they came from...rural Manitoba...so down to earth and genuine.   His very first coaching job was U of Manitoba at age 23-24

When David Poile called him about first NHL job to coach the Predators he thought the call would be about coaching the AHL team.

  6. was this this the very first MNF home game ever ?. where a guy did a tightrope walk of some sort above the crowd....also I think someone threatened Howard Cosell and he pressed charges and came back for the trial...during which time a local TV reporter asked him some questions and his response (while wearing sunglasses and smoking a cigar) to one which I clearly remember was..."I know every playahs numbah...and where went to collidge."

Night games in Buffalo...I sense another chapter or two coming this season...prayers

  7. thank you for posting...

all gave some...some gave all...like Bob Kalsu and my grandfather who was killed in WW2 6 weeks before the end of the war; extricating the Germans from France...may they rest in peace and sleep forever in their graves knowing we care to remember them and their sacrifices

  8. my sleeper pick would be the OL...we gave up third highest pressures in league and some of that is OL and some is Josh hanging on too long and some is Dabol play calls

Morse missed most of training camp due to concussion; ford is now second year and feliciano seemed to play thru an injury second-half

there are three (3) number picks on that line; Dawkins (pay day a comin), Morse (highest paid on roster) and Ford.    Spain and Feliciano and fungible along with all the backups; time to draft an OL or two.

  9. for a few years in the mid 1970s WKBW radio won the radio rights to do Bills games in place of Van Miller:

the crew was Al Meltzer PBP - he was a sportscaster from Philly who worked weekends Bils game; Rick Azar color - he was long-time local WKBW TV sportscaster who also did the Bills weekly highlights show (previous week game on the Sat before next game) and Ed Rutkowski - sideline - former Bill

Overall quality was middle of the road - the rights went back and Van Miller returned

So other than original Van, Meltzer-Azar-Rutkowski crew, back to Van and then onto Murphy I guess that's your entire history of Bills radio coverage.

PS - Van Mller was also the voice of the Buffalo Braves, would hustle back to studio to the 11 PM sports (otherwise you got Chuck Healy from Strikes, Spares and Misses fame - if you don't know don't ask)

Jon Murphy is a former bartender - to me seems to have that loud be heard over the din-tavern voice rather than a broadcaster...that is what I think of most when he does a game, some guy in a bar yelling at the TV

  10. umh...Pats have a playoff caliber defense and coaching staff, the O will get better as the season progresses andi f the young qb does not progress he will be replaced.

They had the usual strong draft in rounds 2 and 3 so the replacements are in place.

The new and improved Bills under McBean Bills are 0-6 against the Pats, so until we beat them the Pats get the benefit of the doubt as in maybe not the div winner but a wildcard ?

I am sure BB is motivated to proof that he can win and coach successfully without TB12

  11. Shula coached against Halas and went5-4; only active coach left he coached against was BB and Shula was 2-0...

old school guys:  Halas, Lombardi, Landry, Shula, maybe Weeb Ewbanks (jets)...Ditka for charisma, chutzpah and Air Coryell for the passing innovations

modern era; BB, Walsh, Noll, Madden, Parcells, Gibbs, Holmgren, Reid, Jimmie Johnson, Cowher..Bum Phillips and Glanville for some personality

best of the rest: Perkins, Levy, Schottenheimer, best black coach ever - Tony Dungy ?  maybe Bud Grant and Hank Stram and Pete Carroll and George Seiffert at  114-62

So you agree with everything Brandon Beane and McDermott do? I'm my own man.

The SEC doesn't produce good NFL QBs. Very few, if any. Fromm is like Murray was from Georgia a few years back...and to be honest Murray was much better

lets see...Peyton and Eli Manning, Dak Prescott,  Lock from Mizzou, Stafford Lions-UGA),  and Tua was the first qb pick from Ala and of course the long history of Ala qbs starting with the 60,70,80s...come to mind without any effort...so your point again was ?

  13. I am excited by the Fromm pick; the kid is an over-achiever who has beaten the odds at GA; his teammates love him; his twitter profile name is hilarious;...Jake Fromm State Farm.

The kid works very-very hard and is very smart (highest wonderlic score for all QBs this year) makes quick 1-2-3 reads and has played at the highest level of college football; is very humble and hungry...and gosh darn it has made an excellent first impression FWIW.

Same agency as Josh so they are already introducing and texting on day one; Fromm is going to add to the qb room with questions and insights so I see this as a plus as well as learning from the others.  Jake has the team first personality so I don't see the kid pouting over sitting as backup.

I betcha that the Pats would have taken him right after us in the draft as he is the kind of guy BB desires as Pats ended-up not drafting a qb to which BB says "not by design"...

Ying-yang with Josh, the uber athlete and Jake the uber intellect.

I see Jake as more of a west coast qb, where they could possibly script 8-10-12 plays for him to come in as a change of pace to give Josh a break of if he does something stupid.

Could this be a Kelly-Reich mutually beneficial relationship that last several enjoyable years ??? hopefully

As far as arm strength, sure, but how many long throws did Josh make last year given that he only long sporadically and inaccurately ?

  14. solid player - drop had to do with subpar combine where he ran 5.0+ 40 and only 17 bp - but looking at the edge taken before him his stats are just as good if not better and they didnt run or bp at the combine and or pro days canceled....was the top rated DE coming out of HS, one year starter yet his stats compare or better than those edge taken above him...athletic genes family is very good athletes including the ladies...one our existing DEs has to go; Trent and the cap savings or last year 7th rounder D Johnson...
