Sure, the client can say that they want $X for their property, but I don't know of many good realtors who will agree to list a property for a price far above its market value. A good realtor "counsels the client to reality" and manages expectations up front, not after the original listing price is slashed. The realtor spends their time and money listing & showing the property. If you own a luxury property and are looking to sell, are you going to list with an agent who recently sold a luxury property at a reduced price?
