Spending more than the NFL minimum salary on backup QB for this roster is insane. If Allen is gone, we lose.

The Daboll era was Chapter 1 of the Josh Allen years
There is merit to your point. However we came into the 2022 season overwhemling favorites to win the Super Bowl. That was the last hurrah of chapter 1. And that ship has sailed. The Bills may not even be favored to win the division in 2023.

The defining element of the last 3 years has not been the Frazier - Edmunds defense. This is an awful, awful take.
Other than Allen, it is. The book is about Josh.

Pretty unhappy with McDermotts "You can never replace Tremaine Edmunds" comments. Is he is laying the groundwork for 2023 failures on defense excuses? He can't possible think Edmund's can't be replaced.

People here are saying it may be a rough couple of seasons, and McDermott and Beane could be gone, but I don't see it that way
For better or worse, they will get to finish Chapter 2. another 4 or 5 seasons. If Chapter 2 includes a Super Bowl win, both will likely be in Buffalo for as long as they want. Even if they don't win a championship Sean McDermott could very well be our Jeff Fisher.

I wonder if seeing what happened to Luke changed the defense a bit. Edmunds definitely isn’t a traditional thumper but in todays nfl, you don’t really have to be.
except maybe in the playoffs

you don’t pay guys like Tre White and an average tight end big money
White and Dawson and Von Miller were three of our highest paid players last season. The level of production we got out them (Miller was zero after injury), is one of the key reasons we floundered in the playoffs. If you look at what the Chiefs, niners, Eagles and Bengals got out of their top paid players, the difference is astounding.

This is an expected administrative move the team needs to make to comply with the Salary cap. It is something 31 other GMs would do if they were here. This benefits the players and takes zero negotiating skill to get them to agree to it. People seem to be repsonding to these moves as if we have $50 million of cap space to sign top end free agents at multiple positions.

Upgrade to Saffold but still should be a backup on the better teams…
This is a silly take. McGovern is clearly among the top 64 Guards in the league.

Upgrade from Saffold who can start.
Young enough to have upside.
Its hardly a bad move.
But it's also not a definitive move at Guard . Lets see what Kromer can do with him/ Maybe he turns out to be Morse' replacement in a year or two ? We are going to need that solved as well
Go Bills
We save $6 mm on the cap by cutting Morse. We all know that if we roll with Morse as our starter next season, a good chunk of his 11mm cap hit will be on the sidelines for a number of games. And if he is on the field, it is likely his play will deteriorate further. We really should be looking at better options at center.

The first Chapter of the Josh Allen era had some great successes, annual playoff appearances, a championship appearance, and some moments of dominance. The defining feature of the rest of the team was the emphasis on the Frazier-Edmunds defense scheme. This chapter is completly closed with today's signing of Edmunds by the Bears.
As we being Josh Allen Era - Chapter 2, what will be the Bills primary emphasis be to get better results in Chapter 2, than Chapter 1. I was not a huge Frazier or Edmunds fan, but they provided the teams most recognizable elements (aside from Josh himself) ?-

You missed Terrence McGee who was probably best in Bills history.
He is RB and return guy. Lets you keep one less WR that would solely be for returns. Also probably allows them to choose Crowder over McKenzie for final WR spot.
Not clear he is worth 4 million of cap space vs a different JAG RB.

It will be interesting to see if Edmund ages on the bears.

I am surprised. THought RB was an easy pistol to save more cap by cutting him.

Went through a lot of mocks this morning and Bruan Branch is a very popular pick for the Bills in the first with Poyer being gone.
In the unlikely event Branch drops to 27, the Bills should select him. And I am an offense first guy.

LMAO if you think Ramsey is the missing piece to make 2 SB's and win one. You clearly havent watched Ramsey play the last 2 years. Rams also had Stafford...Miami has an undersized QB with below average arm strength that has yet to play a full season and now has a pattern of severe concussion issues who the team can't even commit to.
LOL at this comparison.
Reading comprehension is important. Read the post I was replying too.

They’re so leveraged now that I guess the Ramsey move makes sense, but in retrospect, I’d think they may have wished they addressed QB last off-season before going all-in on Tua for a 2-3 year window. And how should they have addressed the QB situation last year?

I get what they’re doing, but Tua isn’t Stafford of two years ago and the AFC isn’t the NFC.What would you recommend they do instead?

I’m not exactly sure I understand what the Dolphins are doing.
Trade for Hill, huge contract.
Trade for Chubb, huge contract
Trade for Ramsey, huge contract
Restructures all around.
It’s the Rams model, swap Stafford for Tua and the NFC for the AFC.
Well, if they make two Super Bowls and win one, like the Rams did, some people will think it was a good plan.
