It’s almost essentially a fourth round draft, pick considering where Chicago is drafting this year
Not really. There are a ton of compensatory picks at the end of the third round. Any picks in the fourth round or later are “overstated” by at least a half of a round.

Gabe Davis's departure means 750 yards and 7 TDs have to be replaced. Leonard Floyd accounts for 10.5 sacks. Between the two, they free up a little under $10 million in cap space. That's a tough lift just to get back to even.
Beane is going to have to draft well. Drafting well solves any and every problem in the NFL.

I expect him to stay in TB or go to KC
No chance he goes to KC if he’s after that type of money. They just won the Super Bowl with a stud rookie and a bunch of bums. There’s no need to throw huge money at an aging vet. That WR room can be greatly improved upon for cheap. A Gabe Davis level player would be a massive upgrade.

Not all of the players you cited were draft picks of KC and all were easily replaced.
What does that even mean? Kansas City’s good players are somehow easier to replace?

Outside of Tyreek Hill, there aren't really any great examples of the Chiefs being willing to move on from their top players. It was really a one-time thing, because they desperately needed to upgrade the O-Line and simply couldn't afford to keep him
One time except for Alex Smith, Juju, Charvarious Ward, Tyrann Matthieu, Frank Clark, Anthony Hitchens, Marcus Peters, Dee Ford, Mitch Morse, Juan Thornhill…
That team had 3 remaining starters from the 2019 Super Bowl team. Their entire ethos revolves around their willingness to churn top players. Mahomes is untouchable. Literally everyone else is a cog in the wheel.

The Chiefs are not giving a 27-year old CB (with zero Pro Bowls or individual awards) who played great in a contract year the long term contract in the ballpark he's looking for. That contract would be one only the Saints would love.
He’s the best CB in the league. If the Chiefs don’t retain him, it’s because they can’t afford him. It would have nothing to do with his lack of talent.

What would the Jets argument be? That they were somehow forced to trade him to Kansas City?

Josh looks sad
It’s because he’s rocking the old school Don Beebe oversized helmet.

How did they get 13.7?They’re clearly excluding the Super Bowl, because that obviously makes sense.

Incorrect.
They got Tre White and Tremaine Edmunds for the only notable draft pick value that they acquired for the Patrick Mahomes pick trade.
People have been mis-stating for years that the Bills were able to move up for Allen with draft pick capital acquired in the Mahomes pick trade...........surprised you are one of them.
Yeah, but just because they didn’t use that specific pick doesn’t mean that having the extra draft capital didn’t allow it to happen.

or a Bills subforum.

Both teams won the trade. Buffalo likely would have drafted Lattimore otherwise, and they wouldn’t have added the draft capital that gave them the flexibility to trade up for Josh. If there has to be a loser in the deal, it was the rest of the league.

Fun fact: Jim Kelly was more than a year older than Josh is today when he played in his first postseason game.

The reason for the similar situation two years in a row is probably not just a coincidental factor.
Perhaps too small or not young enough.Taron Johnson's repeated concussions were concerning.
Maybe more 3LB are needed to avoid his damage buildup. This is a huge factor that nobody wants to acknowledge. When you put a total of 440 pounds of Linebackers on the field in your base defense and ask them to play sideline to sideline, they're going to get beat to hell.
Now factor in the 17 game season and the elimination of a bye in the playoffs and it shouldn't come as a shock that you're running a MASH unit out there by January.

You do know punting is bad right?
Injuries are bad, too. Probably best not to have a good training staff.

Bills were in a no win situation, they had to release him. The media mob and fans were out in force at that time.
As for Araiza’s comeback. The Bills care about optics. The Chiefs care about winning.
The Bills kept Von Miller and cut Matt Araiza, right?

No, we paid our #2 receiver $9m a year.

They say every cloud has a silver lining…although it’s nice that you are always here to step on any optimism…Maybe the Chiefs can give Gabe a contract ? I hear they are looking for a WR … would love to see how Chiefs Planet react to that…
We just paid MVS (who several posters in this thread have compared him to) $18 million over 2 seasons. I would give Gabe that contract in a heartbeat.

Well.. when he was injured he was TE1 and came back as TE2…. So it wasnt a good thing for DawsonIf you think Knox’s injury was a positive for the Bills, then we can agree to disagree. Similarly, if you think losing a player who had 2700 yards and 27 TDs in 4 seasons while earning $1 million a year is addition by subtraction, we can agree to disagree.

I just went and checked the thread …This is what you said in response to comments about Knox being injured allowing Kincaid more playing time …
”if anyone thinks this is a positive then they don’t know anything about football”..
It actually turned out to be great .. because it forced them to use him more ..
I said that Dawson Knox getting injured wasn’t a positive for the Bills. Buffalo proceeded to go 2-3 with him out.
Dion Dawkins Value - Extend or Trade?
in The Stadium Wall

Not a chance he brings back that much in a trade. When the Ravens Orlando Brown Jr., he was thought of similarly to what Dawkins is today. Brown was coming off consecutive pro bowl selections, but he was 5 years younger than Dawkins is currently and was still playing under a third round rookie contract paying him $3.4 million his first year with Kansas City.
The Ravens received the trade equivalent of pick 45 for him (Chiefs traded a first, third, and fourth for Brown, a second, and a sixth). Dawkins will be 30 in April and has a $16.6 million cap hit next year which is the final of his current deal. You're looking at probably a late third at best in compensation. You only trade him if you're planning on a major rebuild, and OBD has given no indication that they intend to go that route
