I think the OP here is a little harsh maybe,  but ultimately I think the premise of forcing low percentage plays too often has been accurate going all the way back to GB.

Cincinnati playing the Browns tight, or any game Mahomes has is totally irrelevant to that point.

This fan base is in SB mode, and I agree with the OP, if the team does not figure out how to get in a high percentage rhythm that keeps the chains moving, we won’t be able to reach that goal. I could care less if anybody else had a bad game.

    This!

It might be on the table without a collapse if he was a McBeane hire. But that all changes when your QB goes to bat for a specific guy to be in charge.

Too many factors make Dorsey safe.

    • 1st year OC
    • Questionable OL talent at the guards
    • Slot receiver not emerging after Crowder gets injured.

The popular view is that this is an Allen/Diggs high powered offensive team, but I'd say the Bills identity is really that of a premier Defensive team who also have two marquee offensive players.  In the off-season, I thought both OL and DL were weak in the middle.  Beane did a great job in getting D. Jones with Oliver and Edmunds benefitting greatly.  Dorsey does pretty well with what he has.  If I were to pick at him, it would be on whatever lack of focus is leading to dropped passes.

Why can't this team seem to be able to execute a simple screen??

Arguably because they're not simple.  OL needs to convincingly sell it, slip their opposing D-lineman, yet not be illegally downfield.  QB needs an open passing lane through the lines or do a risky lob over rushers.  You have to have the DL rush or even overcommit rather than play a contain on Allen.

Agree that we haven't seen an effective screen game since the Thurman days.

once they go to 18 games, it will be 8 teams per conference with 1 and 2 with a 1st round bye and push out the season until late February/early march when they added a 2nd bye week.

That looks like how they want it to go IMO.

They should also expand the roster to 60.  This will probably happen in 2 year when the cap hits close to 300m (I'm guessing but I think it will get there).

Bodies will struggle to last 18 games plus playoffs. It'll shorten careers. Would need to consider the 60 players and two in-season byes.

Calling Dawkins out for not playing up to the potential we know he has is not bashing.

He is very talented, but has not been playing this season at the elite level we all know he is capable of.

Nothing wrong with that, and it is my hope is that he comes back with that mindset if erasing DL players and playing lights out.

Allen needs to have that confidence in his line down the stretch and Dawkins and Morse are the guys that can lead by example.

Dorsey calling more balanced games will help keep D-Linemen from pinning their ears back rushing Allen and help this OL too.

I have no trouble calling Dawkins out for bad plays or how a particular matchup was unfavorable.  I just don't buy into this "move him to guard" noise as if he's not fit for the LT position.  It's possible that if he's the best O-lineman on the Bills, he doesn't have someone pushing him.

The Bills need to decide on scheme and their preferred O-lineman body type.  They may also be obsessed with positional versatility.  The selection and handling of Ford and Teller was interesting.  Ford was a slow-footed tackle with a 6.36 RAS was taken in the 2nd.  Teller, strong as an ox and taken in the 5th with an 8.8 RAS, apparently wasn't a good fit for their scheme (??).

Dawkins isn't a problem to me, it's the Bills' changing run philosophy and talent assessment of the OL.  I'm hopeful they can do for the interior OL what they did with the interior DL.  Arguably you get a guard next to Dawkins that is above average in both run and pass blocking (thinking of Reuben Brown / Incognito) and you now have a strong side of the line.  Dawkins then looks like an All-star.

I'd be interested to hear what someone who was OL football savvy had to say about the what the Bills need on the left side vs the right side.

    I’ve said it all year.

Cook is fine, just get him the ball.

Singletary is 4.5 ypc and steady as they come.

WGR pushes the don’t ever run narrative.

Bills possessed the ball forever tonight.

WGR is unlistenable on that point. Chewing up clock with the run while extending a lead on a team that can't score quickly is a beautiful thing. Keeps your defense fresh. It's got to be a viable option.

The Bills do play man coverage. Apparently that wasn’t the plan Thursday night. But Elam fits just fine with their scheme or they would not have traded up for him in the first round. Let’s see this play out. I don’t know the exact reasons that he was inactive, but they are invested in him so more to come.

Agree. This is a nothing Burger with blue cheese dressing on it.

    All good points!

Just tired of so many announcers continually bringing up 13 seconds throughout the broadcast. A few weeks ago it was Collinsworth, this week it was Romo. It’s similar to seeing Wide Right and Homerun throwback.

When Collinsworth speaks hit mute for 13 seconds.
