NBC frequently used the massive popularity of Friends to launch other sitcoms as a lead-in program, placing them directly after Friends in its lucrative "Must See TV" Thursday night lineup. By benefiting from the large audience already tuned in, these shows had a better chance of gaining and keeping viewers.
