I mean allegedly he is asking for the power of veto in Atlanta. So while he doesn't necessarily "need" to be GM, he is going to want the final say and I don't think he is taking a job without that.

He's one of the 2-3 greatest coaches I've ever seen, but if anybody gives him what he is asking for I think they are doing both him and themselves a disservice.

    4. DT (the need there is higher but the importance is lower... we have our difference maker there.... we need a starter at 1T and some role players)

At no point in the history of football has S ever been more important than DT.

If the Bills don't find a way to retain Daquan Jones, they have seriously ***** up, imo.

KC was giving up short stuff in the middle of the field.

While I do think the Bills were a bit too aggressive coming out of the 2:00 warning, this is simply not true. KC was defending the sticks at that point, which is part of the reason that Shakir was coming free on the post.

Whereas Mike Singletary couldn't play with 'em, couldn't win with 'em, couldn't coach with 'em. Couldn't do it.

Unfortunately for him the 49ers agreed. He couldn't do it. Poor Mike.

He was one of my childhood heroes. That was heartbreaking to watch. :(

Yea they were loaded. That is beyond dispute. He still did a very good job in San Francisco, but hat roster he inherited already had: Frank Gore and Joe Staley in their prime (both of whom will get HoF consideration at some point) plus Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Mike Iupati and Delanie Walker. Then on defense he inherited Justin Smith, Patrick Willis, Ahmad Brooks and NaVorro Bowman. Those guys were all there the day he walked through the door. And while Alex Smith at that point was considered a bust, and Harbaugh deserves credit for reviving him, he was still a former 1st overall pick.

That was an overwhelming defense with an outstanding veteran offensive line on the other side of the ball.

Even I could have coached that group to .500 piss drunk in a lawn chair, and I'm dumber than a chicken.

  6. Has anybody happened to see what Mahomes average time to throw was in that game, or how that might have compared to how fast he was getting the ball out during the regular season?

I know the DE's (aside from Rousseau) were not good that day, but I get the sense that the Bills corners and LBs couldn't have covered a corpse with a circus tent and that was the primary issue.

Are you saying that Stanford was bigger faster stronger or Michigan? Do we just discount his 4 years in SF or his time in Oakland?

    I was referring to Michigan.

And I don't put a lot of stock in his time at Stanford. He was 29-21. In the Pac-10. Not exactly setting the world on fire.

I already mentioned that I think he rode superior talent and good coaches at SF until they fired him at the first opportunity.

So no, they weren't "loaded" when he got there.

They were absolutely loaded and being driven into the ground by Mike Singletary, Who was 8-8 the season before he got fired and who is sooooo bad that not only is he no longer welcome in the NFL, he was last seen coaching a HS team to a 1-21 record in his last two years.

Um...you do know he coached the 49ers and led them to a SB right??

"Led them" to a Super Bowl is inaccurate, imo.

That was one of the most talent-loaded teams in the last decade and the majority of their success was a result of the work of Greg Roman and Vic Fangio.

The instant that talent began to thin out and Harbaugh could only get them to 8-8, they got him out of their organization as fast as they possibly could.

I think it's only a matter of time before this blows up in the Chargers' face.

He took an awful Stanford team and had the largest upset in history against USC and then the most points scores against USC in history 2 years later. Pete Carroll left for the NFL after that and USC hasn't been a legitimate contender since. Legion of Boom was 11-18 or 19, so all 4 of his years. "If he didn't completely rebuild the Michigan program they wouldn't have a Championship" ftfy. He had a proven track record in a way we could only wish. You're trying to downplay how big this is for the Chargers, but the weapons they have are dangerous.

I think there's a big difference between coaching a bunch of kids who are bigger, faster and stronger than everybody they play against vs. coaching a bunch of grown-assed millionaires in a parity driven league.

My expectation is a lot of turnover that will somewhat hamper the Chargers early, a year or two of contention with a really good roster and then the inevitable flameout when the players and a big chunk of the organization become sick of his idiocy.

Probably not healthy, but too late to change now.

I think that resilience probably is healthy, as long as it's not taken to the extremes of an obsessive disorder.

The fact that we're even here probably points up that we are indeed obsessed to some degree; I just appreciate the fact that for the most part, this group manages that obsession with wisdom, humor and self-awareness. That's not a common thing when it comes to large groups of humans and I respect the hell out of it when I see it.

  13. I missed two plays during the game cuz I was down in the garage puffing on a cigar.

    >The fake punt, where I came back in and could not figure out how they had the ball on our 30.

    >The missed FG, which I only knew he missed because I heard my wife yell at the TV.
