Maybe. You could be right. I don’t know enough about him to say.

I do know that I did some really dumb **** I didn’t even think twice about when I was his age, but I would change it in a heartbeat looking back now.

anyway.... I just meant it’s sad to see someone throwing his life away, for whatever reason.

That is the truth, opportunities on that scale don’t happen very often, I too have made a poor choice or two as a young adult, but never to the tune of millions of dollars especially after getting a second chance at said millions of dollars, sadly some of our fellow Americans never get it, as it were. Sounds a lot like to much alcohol and drugs over to long a period of time, it causes changes in the human brain, and not for the good.

I listen to LockedOn Bills podcast and the host Joe brought up the very low percentage of impactful pass rushers picked in the end of the first round. To me this indicates teams reach and draft for need over BPA. Their is actually a higher percentage that a player picked in the third round or later might turn out to be an effective pass rusher. Interesting stuff for us to consider and remind ourselves if this happens in the draft.

I here ya on the mid round picks thing, but as we see every year, all teams draft BPA at positions of need the vast majority of the time, strict BPA is a rare occurrence, I don’t know why folk stick to the myth of strict BPA selections being anything near the norm when it’s obvious that it is rarely the case.

FA isn’t so easy and can be a crap shoot to fill out a roster, especially for upper level guys, being the player your trying to get is most likely to go where the biggest paycheck is, look at Watt for instance...

As we all know there are no guarantees in player acquisition in either FA or the draft, everyone hopes for a generational talent to fall to their team but most are average to a bit above average career wise.

I referenced the K.C. game but I never said he was the only reason we lost.....

I didn’t say you had, 👍 I just brought up that he wasn’t the only reason we had a poor showing is all, sorry to have given you the impression that I wanted an argument, was just bringing up another aspect of the above stated poor showing... but if you need to be right, than what the heck you can be right it’s not an issue worth this much typing...

After watching the all 22 and focusing on the WRs separation, I am confidant that my take is on par, but see it how you like. He had trouble getting any sort of separation as well as finding the soft spots in the zones.

whether or not they would’ve moved on from him if he had a good game or not, I obviously have no idea......but playing the game that he did, while possibly being the healthiest of our WRs in that game, made McBs decision easier imo.

He just wasn’t even close to the same player we saw last year. Injuries or not, that’s part of the overall picture.

I’m not saying he wasn’t lacking at times, I was sayin he wasn’t the only reason we lost the KC game, you only referenced the KC game specifically, so that was what I responded to, 👍

I don't think it was just that Chiefs game.  I think they saw several patterns (not routes) and decided they needed to move on.

    1) Ability to open against physical ('sticky') man coverage.  It's not just the AFCCG where Brown had 2 receptions on 4 targets, but he was blanked vs. IND, held to 1 reception on 2 targets in the 1st NWE game, and blanked (2-0, 4-0) in 2 others.  There were also games last season where Brown was effectively taken away or severely limited as well, including both NE games (despite the great deep catch), the Ravens game, and at least partially in the HOU playoff.

    2) Response to injuries.  He was injured and missed A LOT, and was limited when out there.  Maybe there was some feeling where Beasley missed one game with a broken fibula then put up 14 receptions on 18 targets for 145 yds (77.8% catch) in the playoffs on that thing, while Brown missed 4 games on IR (after the bye) and went right on the covid list as a "close contact" for the 5th game?  The injuries were different and a high ankle sprain may be tougher to play through, I grant.  And injuries can be random in how they strike.  But there might be opinions there on how Brown handled the recovery (I don't have anything to back this up)

    3) Development.  IMO Brown actually took a good step as a WR this year.  He was making some of those toe-drag tough catches and going down for low throws that he didn't make last year.   But maybe there were some other things that they wanted and he didn't or wasn't able to do?  He and Allen seemed to be not on the same page at times, and Brown alluded to the complexity of the playbook and that Davis (the rookie) was helping them grasp it.

That's pretty much how I see it.

I Don’t disagree with your points, I was addressing the remarks about the KC game.

This is lunacy. This is idiotic.

Can someone point out what Super Bowl champion or hell, even recent contender, that dedicated this much money and effort to STers?

It flies in the face of modern NFLdom. Rule changes have basically eliminated the return game. Why are we signing top end STers to prop up this phase, instead of dedicating more money to the other phases that actually matter?

The ST coach’s job on a team that’s contending should be to coach up a bunch of cheap backups and late round draft picks into a decent unit. Not need dedicated gunners being signed to modest contracts.

It’s upsetting to say the least.

Don’t mince words with us FC, I don’t think you are fully expressing your deepest and truest feelings on our STs budgetary allotments, after a coffee and some yoga, come back and let us know what you really think,
