  1. Murphy was coming off injury when we signed him, and the coaches knew full well it would take some time to get up to par, as is usual it takes far longer to heal and be in top game day shape than most fans can tolerate.  There abouts a quarter of the way through last season he really started playing noticeably better and has shown to be staying at a high level of performance since then, SM said as much in PCs in the recent past. A lot of folk here get all riled up about his money, and act as if it’s coming out of their own pockets. Frankly I don’t give a flying “F” what any of these guys get paid (top 5% in wages nationally) as long as they play well, and he does.

We have a good D and there is no reason to be getting rid of quality contributors.

Fair enough.  I think it was a worthy discussion and a lot of valid points supporting and to chill.  Let's see how this year goes.

I do believe that your thoughts on having a more stout run game is absolutely essential to the teams future success, I feel that the progression to get there has not been smooth over the last three seasons.

  3. Aldo, the 2018 team had virtually no O line, or receiving threats, and almost zero QBs that were ready to start. Can you say “the results of the strip down of a rebuild” no surprises there.

The 2019 team was actually a real team, but with obvious flaws, yet made the playoffs, this season the team is much better all around, and has played all of one game, and running the ball was not the game plan for that game.

So with the history and reasons well known the past poor performance is explained. Our running game last season was ranked 8th league wide iirc?

Now going forward, if the running game is not improved there is then something to talk about.  I would say that it matters more that the points are scored than who is scoring them, resulting in wins of course.  We are going to be okay when it comes to our RB room carrying its weight this season. I think that game plans for given opponents will change the emphasis as to which group will do the scoring from game to game. I do believe that Singletary and Moss will

be more of the emphasis in Miami.

Nothing. You can't fix what's lacking between the ears.

Also, I wouldn't give up on Darnold just yet. He has had zero stability and consistently awful coaching. He may be OK with the right situation.

    This ^^^

I’ll  certainly agree that Gase and Co are a sh-t show for sure, and that is not benefiting Darnold.

But some folk are good in a classroom, but are poor in transferring that knowledge into a practical application setting. When I ran a bicycle shop we had customers who were Pratt and Whitney engineers, a couple of which couldn’t change a flat tire on their racing bikes to save their own lives, they knew the steps required, had seen it demonstrated repeatedly, but would almost always puncture the new tube at some point while installing it.  It is what it is with some folk. Darnold as smart as he is may be one of those guys.

You may have missed this in my post "I understand it's one game, means virtually nothing and "get back to me after the season" applies." But thanks.

Although, I pay Diggs for the exact reason you bring up. With no offseaon or preseason he is worth the difference in pay if the Bills want to win now.

That and top talent costs money, as you said we are in a win now window for the next couple of years, so the Diggs acquisition was a really good move by Beane. All those high draft pick receivers will take years to get where Diggs is now, and some may not get there. Diggs is as much of a sure thing as is possible in the NFL.

  6. (“D line c+, DE played well DT not so much”)

maybe the pressure by the DTs is why  the DEs had such a good day..., just sayin...

Especially as it was the first game of the Covid season, the team did damn well! Can’t wait for the Miami game.

So basically it's like the gameday threads.

Yup, if you only read the game day thread for info you would have thought the Bills we’re struggling mightily the whole game, there are sime drama queens posting on the game day thread, they just live for any play that didn’t go as scripted, quaylewds and gin would be a good idea for many of those folk...😁 👍🍺

They played NE* tough, as they do most every team. I certainly respect their coach and program much more than the Jests.

This will be a big game for as early as it is. They’re already desperate, given they’re 0-1 in the Division. Fitzy is Fitzy, but they have their future on the bench. I’m no where near as confident for this game as I was for NJ.

I am certain that SM is drilling the very point home as we speak. If we take care of what we can control we will come out with a win.

    See above.

The Bills were outscored in the second half.  Penalties aided the Bills in the first half.  Josh played well, but the play calling won't hold up against better teams.

The Bills won by double digits, the jets run D is top three coming into this season iirc, so the results of the game with in the game were to be expected, your verbiage comes across as an attempt at creating drama where there really is none.
