I just can’t get into this game. I’ve tried all week -even with Christmas, but I just don’t care and wish it were defaulted. Sure, I’d love an 11 Win season and I hate and ALWAYS want to beat the Jets. But with the laissez faire attitude by the team, starters wisely not playing the whole game and the outcome otherwise meaningless sans national opinion being ‘Well, they ONLY won 10 games, so..’ IDGAF.

Honestly can’t remember feeling this way about any game, regardless of any previous W/L record on the final week.

    Sorry, guys..?‍♂️

Competive juices always going, preseason, game 1, game 16, playoffs....doesn't matter.  I'm still pumped, and I'm sure mcdermott isn't going to let these guys go out and play laissez faire either.  That's how you get hurt...need to keep the same routine, same focus and if we pull starters, I'm still excited to see some other guys get a shot.

Is it ? Shouldn’t next year’s finale be the last of the decade ? I mean, if recorded time began with year one ......

So when a century ends...1900 to 2000s, you say we are still in the 1900s in 2000? lol, same.concept with a decade, 2010-2019 is the 2010s.

Point was that, though no one is afraid of Hodges, the Bills D none the less allowed him to drive down into their territory late in the 4th Q to try and tie the game--twice.  2 bad passes by an inexperienced QB the Steelers from tying it up.

Yeah so what?! lol, we won the game.  thought the original point was discussing pitts offensive line?

Anyhow, Pitts issues or lack of maximizing their talent, is their problem

yet Hodges was still driving for the tie twice in the 4th Q

I must be missing your earlier point.

But yeah, duck was driving needing a td, where that only happened on like 2 of his past 20+ plus drives....mcdermott playing the odds and keeping it real conservative on our last series.  Tj Watt having an unreal season is what jumpstarted that team and allowed them to rush 4 and still generate pressure....that team has found ways to blow playoff opportunities the past 2 seasons when everything is on the line

True we will.  But your point regarding the Steelers creating Bell pales when you see what they are doing now for the run.   They have a great D.  Some here, based on ppg and total ypg would have to conclude that the Steelers Offense is "awful".  In fact the team itself may be just barely above awful only 2 games better than a 6-9 team...

Steelers still have a really good oline, but fosters playbat guard and having a new right tackle has made it take a step back....more importantly though, nobody fears duck or rudolph (hes now out for season), and were able.to stack the line.  Big difference vs having ben healthy.with AB and a healthy JuJu

Interesting about Shaq injury...I thought it looked like he did something when he was about to celebrate (I believe) a TFL against the Pats.  He was starting to do his muscle dance or whatever, then you could see him favor his leg.  At this point, I can't remember which one, maybe the left...?  Anyone else recall seeing that?

Yep, i remember thinking he didn't want to make it obvious he injured it during the celebration, so he decided to stay in for a couple plays....watching him closely on those, he didn't "explode" off the ball, but he usually doesn't get a great get off anyhow.  I'd be shocked if he played this week, hopefully rest and therapy will get him back for playoffs...hamstrings are definitely tricky

his coaching today was substandard.  this is the same game as the last few weeks.   being on the field all game caught up to the D today.

Coaches coach players play...guys in position to tackle on defense, too many missed tackles. On offense, we have a 2nd yr qb who overthrew guys but also made some great throws (Knox before half and brown).  How can we say that we got outcoached when playing the 2nd best afc team, who arguably has the best nfl defense and GOAT at qb...please.  we are on our way up, just not there yet

They are.  Our Weapons are much better than Steelers this year, and that INCLUDES James Conner and his 3.8 ypc

Exactly! Steelers still have a great oline, maybe best in nfl. but their skill players are not what they had been.  this is a very different off scheme. much more conservative, and occasional deep shots. they def have a lot of speed, but this isn't the same group. especially with duck at qb.

  9. darnold struggled, similar and actually worse. than allen against the Pat's cover 0/blitz schemes.  be interesting to see if jets offense dials up some deep passes and can connect on 1 early...

last weeks game is very different if allen and brown connect on that 1st drive

Looks like percentage for precipitation went from 10% yesterday to 40% today. Looks like could be a rain/snow mix.
Does Pitts get lake effect like Buffalo?

It impacts the burgh but not like it would buffalo, Erie, i90 corridor

looks like am snow showers in pittsburgh, maybe a dusting. according to local pitt forecast

How about the Steelers Run defense?

Do you think that Singletary has the potential for a big game against them?

They're solid against the run too, but inthinknour best chance is to get Singletary (or maybe Yeldon is active this week) in routes against mark barron or their rookie Devin Bush

  12. Randy Moss just calling out Milano on "cmon man" segment for getting juked by lamar, during yesterday's game....

hope milano and this defense take these subtle jabs, and get fired up to dominate sunday night.

I know, NFL players dont need extra motivation. but nobody likes getting called out on national tv

Honestly asking...I've seen this mentioned several times about the Steelers being one of the best blitzing teams and I would have assumed that too, but do the stats actually back this up? According to NFL Matchup on ESPN (they tweet out stats a lot), they aren't even in the top 10 (meanwhile the Ravens are 1st by a mile).

No doubt that Watt, Dupree, and others provide an excellent pass rush, but good blitzing teams seem to be our biggest kryptonite at the moment and I think we match up better against the Steelers. I think the Bills have demonstrated that they're able to neutralize good pass rushers for the most part when they know where they're coming from throughout the season.

Also, as @whatdrought mentioned, the Steelers have played some pretty trash offenses for the last 6-7 weeks to pad their turnover and sack stats. Bengals, Dolphins, Cardinals, Browns twice, Rams at their worst...no real tests since they played the Ravens in week 5.

Just my opinion, but I think we are likely undervaluing the Raven's defense and overestimating the Steelers a decent amount.

    ELW0SWaXYAEwQUy.png

Agree. Steelers dont blitz alot, but when they do, typically slot blitz.  They have backed off their patented zone blitz, double a gap lb stunts.  Now with watt and Dupree, they play a lot of coverage and rely on the talented front four.

Also, just a weird nugget but something everyone will notice (if not known already)....the steelers copied our 3rd down train horn, lol, prepare for their version of its 3rddddd downnnnnn

To me this is the kind of game where the Bills should be very conservative on offense.  As others have pointed out the Steeler's are winning games with defensive & ST scoring.  We have to limit the TO's, especially early in the game.  If we want to attack them the 2nd half might be the better time if we're up like 10 - 6.

There is NO way the Steeler's O should move the ball much against our D.  If the Bills O can score 17 - 20 points we win this game and are in the playoffs.

And for the record, I don't think the Steeler's defense is as good as the Raven D is.

I haven't had the chance to read all comments in this thread, so not singling you out just wanted to say...

Living in Pittsburgh, I've seen every steeler game and connected with some media folks too:

    1. dont sleep on steeler defense.  they dont have the corners, although Haden is very good, thatbthe ravens or Patriots have, but their front seven and pass rush is the best we will be facing up till now, imo

    2. attacking their defense: historically, teams that run spread have had success vs running 12 or 21 personnel.  this year is a bit different, as their combo of watt and Dupree is difficult to block.  Josh is going to need to throw "on time" and be willing to take some quick check downs.  their defense is very aggressive, misdirection and screens can work against them

    3.  on offense, duck brings a very different dynamic than rudolph.  duck is a rhythm passer, not a cannon, but solid arm.  he can scramble, if needed, but more like a ryan fitz.  Teams have stacked the box to counter their strong oline and tendency this season to pass short to their rbs.  As they do that, corners typically jam the wrs in man coverage. which is where both duck and rudolph have had success with fade/go routes.  This is where I'd mix up the press vs off man/zone

    4.  with juju hurt, I think their most dangerous weapon is diontae Johnson, however hes a rookie and still coming into his own.  james Washington has solid speed, and great catch radius/strength, hes their primary deep threat right now

Bottom line, get them into 3rd and 5+, and minimize the big plays on deep catches or pass interference.  On offense, josh needs to play a game like he did against the titans and hopefully connect on a deep pass

Losing to the Steelers this Sunday puts our play-off hopes in jeopardy.  They have the Jets & Ravens remaining on their schedule.  A win over the Jets gives them 10 wins.  And, the Ravens may rest their starters for the final game of the season.

So, that basically puts our fate in the hands of the Texans & Titans.  Tennessee is hot and the Texans just lost to the lowly Bronco’s at home.  It would be great if Houston wins the division and the Titans finish 10-6 with the playoff tie-breaker in favor of the Bills.

BUT, these teams play each other twice in the last 3 weeks of the season.  A scenario could develop with the Titans winning the division and the Texans finishing 10-6.

Would we have the tie breaker over Houston with mutual 10-6 records???

Texans get to 10 wins by either:

    1. beating titans 2x, lose other.  outcome is they win division, as titans would have 7 losses

    2. splitting with titans, winning other.  they win division in this scenario too, as they would have better division record than titans.  titans would assuming have 10 wins, and we beat them on head to head, if we win 1 more

And I say that as someone who loves Frank. The Bills certainly could have afforded McCoy. He’s just a lot more versatile than Frank at this point. When Gore is in there, his role is insanely predictable, which makes the offense more predictable. McCoy is having a sneaky good season. He is averaging 4.9 ypc and has 27 receptions on 31 targets.

Yeah, ignoring salary, leadership, work ethic, mentoring a young rb...and so on.

Agree McCoy is still more talented at this point of his career, but clearly the team thought Singletary would be taking control and didn't want to keep mccoy around for everything listed above, or other reasons not made public

The Steelers winning today really hurts us. Anyone that is thinking about playoff matchups is getting ahead here. Those playoff odds aren’t factoring in the schedule. It’s going to be tough to get in now

No saying it's a certainty, but tough to get in?!

Please look at that titans and texans schedules, they play each other 2x still.  We just need to beat the Jets and we're in....colts and raiders each with 7 losses, titans will either win both (putting us ahead of texans), split (texans win division and we have tiebreaker over titans), or Texans win both.....we are in with 1 more AFC win

  18. not sure how they can keep the Rams and Seahawks on primetime week 14.

    1. Wilson or Jackson: toss up for nfl mvp right now, both a big draw for fans

    2. Bill's or Rams: Rams loss tonight puts them out of playoff contention, not mathematically eliminated but in reality.  Bill's have ZERO games after 4:30 kickoff, 8-3, and a showcase of 2 young nfl starting qbs from the same draft class
