It's gonna be a tough road but could they not do:

Dawkins, Brown, Van Demark, Collins, Grable

    McGovern, Torrence, Edwards, Van-Pran

With Collins having some flex to play guard too?

I know they signed Will Clapp and they have Doyle coming back from his 103rd injury but Beane could always do one of his fliperoos for a day 3 pick for one of those guys in camp.

Depends what they think of Alec Anderson, seemed high on him being a future backup across IOL

1.65 10-split isn't elite but is in line with the Booker/Kneeland/Trice tier of smaller edges. It's not special but not poor.

I could care less about combine results, TBH.

Watch him play and he has a great burst/bend, and mixes power with hand moves.  He has long arms and a knack of generating a lot of pressure and producing results.

He could be a James Houston impact rookie, as a pass rush specialist.

But we pretty clearly are missing a WR on the roster right now. Coleman replaces Davis, Samuel replaces Harty, Hollins replaces Sherfield. There's one glaring replacement still missing. And I'm saying I expect any rookie WR we add to match Diggs, but objectively there is a gaping hole on the roster there.

I'd recommend not thinking of it, as direct "1 for 1" replacements.  Beane is counting on a group effort/GB model type offense, which we saw how well that worked for GB down the stretch.

I agree we need a better outside option than Hollins, but a couple options left in this draft/post June 1st/or they think Shorter made some big strides in offseason.

If we don't take a 2nd WR, Beane must have another plan in place for later this offseason.

You're understanding the potential issue there, yes

Of course, but I put the odds above 75% based on what we've seen from Kincaid/Shakir down the stretch and how Shakir worked last offseason to refine his route running/burst.

On top of that, we're counting on Joe Brady doing a better job than Dorsey, scheming and designing plays.  I'd say that is definitely a much better chance, given what we saw with Brady....basically inheriting Dorsey scheme and running it better than him.   Now we see Brady design what he actually wants

    Yup

Lots of delusional fans here. This team is going to be Sean McDermott's wet dream: run first, blocking WR, tight ends, ball control.

I think there's a difference between some of the fans you're bucketing as 'dillusional'

I don't know exactly where you stand, but myself I was never expecting to replace Diggs with "a single player".  It's going to be a group effort and how Beane has described it during press conferences (many ways to achieve a successful offense), just might look different than we've seen past 4 years.

Samuel, Kincaid, Coleman, and Shakir are all capable of 800 yard seasons or a tad more.  Then Knox, Cook/Davis, and I'm thinking we add another WR this draft or post June 1st...those guys likely contribute another 1,000 yards in aggregate.

It's spreading out Diggs targets, we likely have a better run offense too.  Time will tell, but I see a path to an offense that is just as good, if not better than LY.  That's counting on Kincaid and Shakir to mainly up there game/results.

Just from a high level philosophy, drafting a safety and a RB with two of our first four picks is bad strategy. The players might be good. But there is extremely low upside with that strategy. It's the two least valuable positions on the team.

You must have said this 100x now...we finally know where you stand after this one

Let's see how things play out.  Davis is a very good player.  Bishop likely steps off the bus as a starter, and future key piece of our secondary.  Coach knows Safeties and if he wanted Bishop (enough to try moving up in the 2nd), he must see some excellent potential.

Nothing worse than ppl getting upset, at an instant.  You did the same on Keon in Jan/Feb, then came around on him.

Point is, we won't know until football starts and how these guys will be integrated in our schemes/impact they make.  We do know that we just lost our key safety tandem, had to use retread at RB2, and had no DT3 behind Ed that could stay healthy/make an impact.

Time will tell, this is a key draft for Beane so if it blows up in his face then I could see a new GM in 1-2 years

It would be actually hilarious if these 5th round guys hit and we finally win the SB with one or two of them making plays for us in clutch situations.

I think there are legit 4 roster spots open for: CB, RB, Edge, OL

Assuming we go Wr in Rd4. There are some nice value at each of those still available.  Beane letting this draft come to him.

Instead of spending too much cap on depth guys in FA, restock some key depth roles with young guys.  Maybe they all don't work out, but if we can find 3 out of 5 in Rd4&5, that's a good success and will help with cap mgt in future

I wasn't suggesting they weren't important. Role players are important. I was explicitly talking about guys with potential to develop into #1 receiver types. I think you interpret "role player" differently than I do. Role player don't mean backup.

I think Thrash has a chance to be a nice #3/4 to start, and grow into a potential #2 type.

He did very good at the Senior Bowl, has some traits that Beane likes.

Think he would complement our WR room well

  9. Position focus: Edge, RB, WR, OL, CB, possibly P

In Rd 4, I think its very possible we move up into the top 10 range.  Some team like Min, who could use an extra pick.

    Buf trades: 128, 144

    Min trades: 108

    Leaves us with 1 4th, 3 5ths, 1 6th, 1 7th.  6 picks, matching 6 positions up above (possibly we only need 5).

I think top of Rd 4 could literally be any of those positions (except P).  I could argue for WR (def some talent has slid), Edge (Mo Kamara would be a nice get), etc.

But I think the Bills really like Devonshire from Pitt, that's been linked publicly and my Steeler source confirmed that.  Steelers are also heavily interested in him.  He's a Rd5 talent IMO.  He could certainly be our new punt returner immediately.  Pitt has very good secondary coaching, they come into the NFL with a solid foundation.

I think highest valued at each of those positions listed makes most sense per round.  And I can't see us keeping all 4 5ths.  Rd 4 is ripe for a potential trade up, if another team desires additional picks.

Not good enough. Not making any team sweat

You need to seriously chill out bro.  All these trades, talk of lack of playmakers, etc.

Some of the guys you mentioned to trade for: Higgins, Deebo as example.   These were both day 2 picks.  You could go back and look at alot of past drafts and find Day 2 WRs having a big impact on their team.

Whose to say Coleman doesn't have a 800 yard+ season, 9-10 TDs?  Just because he's not who "you" wanted, but Beane and professionals spend countless hours deliberating.

Kincaid especially, but also Shakir are being counted on to take another step.  Samuel brings versatility, and likely 800+ yards.

We also have Knox and Cook as complementary receiving options.  Likely drafting another WR tomorrow.

If you paid any attention to Beanes recent press conferences (since Diggs trade), he has stated multiple times that we aren't necessarily finding a WR1/alpha type.  We're going with a GB/Steeler type model, multiple guys who can contribute and all have differing skill sets.

Maybe it works and we're a top offense still, maybe the plan blows up on them.  But any offense led by Josh Allen is going to be very successful, especially if Brady can improve in certain areas.  We're going to be counting on all aspects of offense, more ground game and spreading targets.

We need a complete team to compete in playoffs, not just offense only.  We need to get more stops on defense/impact plays.  We ran out of guys on defense LY, and aging vets.

It's time we re-stock at multiple spots, and I'd expect our next WR is WR4/5.  Even if you disagree, our top 4 receiving threats are now set between Kincaid/Coleman/Samuel/Shakir

First off, thank you for being much more respectful than someone else here. It's nice to have a convo rather than have someone act like a screw driver.

Couple things, for obvious reasons, I didn't want to believe this as A) Leggette was who I was hoping for and B) it's not a great look for someone who I'm a fan of. I have no interest in bashing Beane, and while not perfect, he knows much more about football than myself. I didn't have to say anything and it's more just stating what went through my head through out the day. I had no issue w the trade as a fan last night, but the text I got from someone who knows NOTHING about the draft but works w someone who's husband is a scout said that he was the guy, they didn't expect that's who it was going to be for, so now Coleman is the guy.

After umpiring a highschool game I hopped in the car and listened to the pick and sure enough - Coleman. I called that person and they mentioned the 2nd pick - also spot on. It is what it is, my only real point here was that I hoped the picks weren't true - not bc I didn't want the players... but bc I didnt want to believe the story. There weren't specs in the sense that ' the world was ending' or 'they had both similar but Legette more so while they'd have preferred one, they weren't unhappy w the other' just simply that CAR took who they'd planned on taking.

Maybe they were close enough he was willing to take that chance w that return. I have no idea. I just feel like if it's one team behind and they want to get ahead of you - I was surprised the stipulation wasn't we had to know who they wanted before the trade.

Either way, the point of the post was simply I spent the day hoping that wasn't the pick so I could write off the story as bunk. Then not one, but 2 picks were just as they said. As such, now I believe it. No one else has to, just mentioned it bc I felt it was interesting. Nothing more, nothing less.

Of course man, always appreciate a good conversation.  Thx for sharing what you heard.

We will never quite know, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Beane had them basically equal/or very similar ranking.

My source (albeit with Steelers), told me Coleman to Bills about an hour or so prior to draft on Thurs night.

I think both could be true, Legette and Coleman equally graded and knowing they'd get 1 of them was enough for Beane to move back.  I'd just be genuinely shocked if Beane didn't know exactly who Dan was targeting and all the publicly available info connecting Legette to Car.

I'd been happy with either player, Coleman was highest on my list during the Fall (with Worthy).  I'm not shocked though that Beane decided to go with a big bodied/physical WR, something Josh hasn't had.
