  1. The San Francisco 49ers have suspended broadcaster Tim Ryan for one game ... after the ex-NFLer said Lamar Jackson was successful at faking hand-offs because of "his dark skin."

Ryan -- who played with the Chicago Bears from 1990-93 before starting his commentary career -- went on a KNBR radio show to discuss the Niners' 20-17 loss to the Ravens and why the QB is so good. “He’s really good at that fake, Lamar Jackson," Ryan said. "But, when you consider his dark skin with a dark football with a dark uniform, you could not see that thing." “I mean you literally could not see when he was in and out of the mesh point and if you’re a half step slow on him in terms of your vision, forget about it, he’s out of the gate.”

It feels like we're playing with house money. We knew going into the stretch that we had to win at least one of the next four, and now we've beaten one of the harder ones on the schedule and we just need one out of 4 to punch our ticket.

I'd rather see us win them all and let the PATS play wild card!

  3. I don't worry about the Bills in the Play-Offs after Thursday's performance.  Three key AFC games may eliminate some pretenders for the final play-off spot.

    1.  Cleveland at Pittsburgh.  If the Browns win the Steelers have 6 loses.  I don't see them doing much more with undrafted Hodges at QB.

    2.  Tennessee at Indianapolis.  They both have 6-5 records.  We beat Tennessee so it would be nice if they won this game.

    3.  Oakland at Kansas City.  I'm hoping for a KC win at home.  Let them clinch the AFC West and watch the Raiders (6-5) fall off the chart.

  4. I remember when the '88 Bills turned the corner.  There was no free agency then and the core group stayed with the Bills through the Super Bowl years.

All is different now.  UFA's, FA's and the salary cap control the game  & a team unless you have a Tom Brady at QB.

Enjoy this 2019 team, the players, the coaches and remember all can change so quickly. It's wonderful.

    GO BILLS!

Gary Marangi.  I only know that bc I remember reading that OJ’s 275 yd game was also one of the worst QB performances in NFL history.  Or at least the last 50 yeaes. Something like 25 yards passing.

Gary went 4 for 21 passing with an interception for 29 total yards.  Unbelievable but true.  OJ had 273 yards.

Ralph didn't like paying his employees what they were worth. This is the main reason why the Bills never accomplished much from the late 60's to the mid-80's. Saban and Knox had the competence to build teams that could have potentially competed with the Dolphins, Raiders, and Steelers of that era. They just needed the financial backing. And even if you disagree with that strong statement, you should concede that this franchise should not have fallen to FIVE 1-win or 2-win seasons in an 18-year time span (1968-85). That's all on miserly Ralph.

I lived through those years and agree with your assessment.  It was embarrassing but the fans still showed up!

The investment dollars to do this would be astronomical.  The schools in the top 5 conferences maintain NFL-level facilities and pay their coaches millions of dollars.  The NCAA has massive TV contracts and booster support that provide revenue that a NFL D-league could never match.

And in the end, the NFL doesn't even need a minor league.  Unlike the NHL and MLB, the NFL draft age is 20 years old, not 18.  So 18 and 19 year old football players develop in extremely well-funded, first-rate football factories.

The XFL will crash and burn, just like the other attempts to start a new league every other year.  Just another delusional rich guy burning money on an ego trip.  Between the NFL and NCAA, the market is closed to a new league, especially one that is built on spare parts from the other leagues.

Are we talking about The Arena League with games played  indoor on hockey ice covered with a carpet???  We had the Buffalo Destroyers who were awful.  Ray Bentley coached the team for a few seasons.  The owner moved the team to Columbus OH.  How could anyone believe this would relate to NFL football?  Nobody from the Arena League was a potential NFL player.  Lou Saban coached a team in Milwaukee years ago.  It was a throw the ball in the air and run & catch it.

Watching those highlights sure brought back some memories.  Cribbs, Fergie, Curtis Brown, Frank Lewis, Jerry Butler, even Phil Vilipiano with that weird padding around his neck...  I loved watching those guys as a kid.

I loved Ferguson's quick release, almost a wrist throw that was deadly accurate!

Joe Cribbs was a fun player to watch.

It was too bad he became a malcontent in only his second year.

So true.  Money got in the way of his career.  And, Ralph didn't like that crap at all.

Yup. In Cribbs' rookie year, NFL teams averaged 30.5 fumbles per season.

Whereas last year, teams averaged around 19.75 fumbles per season.

Those were different times. Defenders were allowed to do pretty much everything not involving automatic weapons.

Defenders could use their elbows and helmets as weapons.  And, no replay to see if a knee was down before the fumble!
