Super Bowl champions goes through adversity
technobot replied to kirkwoodus13's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kudos for optimism and yes, adversity can make a person and a group or a team stronger. However, the pattern that has developed under McDermott concerns me. Quite simply, if we just look at football adversity, and remove injuries from the equation, we’ve had plenty of adversity or uncomfortable situations the team would have to talk about and overcome together. 13 seconds, Hail Murray, Vikings at Bills, even Broncos at Bills on MNF… this isn’t even a complete list but we are literally writing the book on how to collapse at the end of a game, within the final minute. The concern here is are we learning? Is this making us stronger? Trevon Diggs running his mouth on Twitter about getting Stefon out of Buffalo makes me suspicious. -
Saw that too, and alot of Von doing the casual jog. If he's that limited, why is he out there? 50% effort reps in a game setting? If that's his 90%/100% he shouldn't even be dressed for gameday.

No “I quit the Bills” threads on TBD!? I am shocked!
technobot replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's no quit from me. This year's Bills do share some of the qualities of the drought teams: - unreliable offense - some great defensive performances wasted by said offense as the defense is eventually too tired to make a critical stop - being "un-clutch" and knowing as a Bills fan that the team will dig deep, and find a way to lose games they could easily win - questionable coaching The difference being we supposedly have so much star power compared to the drought. But like the drought, we seem so unprepared and wilt in pressure situations. -
Off topic, but somewhat adjacent with the topic related to preparedness and practicing for situations. Denver converts a field goal attempt at the end of the first half with no timeouts, clock running and about 15 seconds left. Are we confident our Bills could do the same?

This team never makes a big stop
technobot replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall
We've seen that movie many times during the drought. Beleaguered defense shows up, keeps us in the game all night. Offense looks incompetent most of the game, punter in store for a busy night. Sometime by the mid-late fourth quarter, the defense is gassed. We didn't get the patented "now that the defense is gassed it hemmorhages yards in the ground game". We instead got the tried and tested "defense exhausted and can't make a stop with the game on the line". Some questionable panic defensive calls straight out of Madden credited with the assist. Like the drought teams, this year's iteration of the Bills is adept at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The added wrinkle is "if the other team is motivated and ready to play, we'll make damn sure to look past them!" -
It's excruciating watching new ways to lose in the final minute but let's be honest. Even if they had won that game won would you have felt good about the team's chances moving forward? What's most disturbing is how much they lose like the drought teams used to. I'm thankful for McD turning the thing around but everyone knows him and his tendencies and his defense, except this year he has overburdened himself with defensive playcalling responsbilities and tends to panic and call engage eight. No matter what Pegula thinks he's in danger of losing the players if he hasn't already. What a mess.

trademark collapse to end the half

Sorry if it's been stated ad nauseum up thread. Why does this keep happening to us, why do games end like this. We are the wrong end of a highlight reel compilation documenting the most unbelievable collapses in NFL and sporting history. From the team that brought you Hail Murray... Introducing: 13 seconds! Nothing will prepare you for the end of Vikings @ Bills 2022! How about Mac "MJ10" Jones and a Patriots offense averaging 12 points/game marching down field to score a touchdown with less than two minutes left? Hey, this is all regular season, all good. But wait, as an encore, in elimination games, we have the "not in the same tier as the other team" letdown. Maybe that noise in the offseason about players not trusting the process as much had some measure of truth. This is mind numbing as a fan, just as the Bills became a good, potentially elite team, we remind the sporting world that no one loses in outrageous fashion like those Buffalo Bills.

I can no longer ignore the trend that against competent offenses, we leak yards and points. Against elite offenses, we get lit the f up. What Cinci did to us I saw the Patriots do it us for years, and yes this was before then during McDermott: run basic plays. Easy underneath that the other quarterback always makes, receiver picks up 3-5 YAC guaranteed. Run the ball at will, right down our throat. 1 on 1 on the outside is identified, they take a shot. Rinse and repeat. Does this defense require all pros littered throughout all three levels to function? Is that a reasonable ask?

I'll respond to you and WideNine said the same thing. That hater callout was for an obvious troll, who is gone, but who happened to be right. Bills fans being critical of their team is not hate, I never once said that. Ask my wife how critical I am of her, my kids, myself. Terrible person I am but I don't hate my family.

Late to the "party" and apologies if what I'm about to post has been said ad nauseum (confident it has but here we go): Really needed that game as a fan. I don't have the anger from the 13 seconds debacle, this is totally different because I had to be shown, as a fan, that the haters were right and this team is simply not in the same tier as the Bengals or the Chiefs... guessing 9ers and Eagles as well. It's a good team, with good players and a transcendent QB, but as Chris Simms' commentary got to, we don't have enough star power. Paraphrasing "when the play breaks down, you just beat your guy". We don't have enough of that. And then Josh has to try to play Superman but mama said there would be days like yesterday and he gets his ass kicked instead. Allen is going to be a meteor at this rate. We're seeing the Cam Newton treatment all over again, with some Big and some Andrew Luck is sprinkled n there. Our guy will not have a long or productive career because he's being used as a battering ram and will degrade, quickly. Everything about the bargain bin o-line, boundary receivers depth... the prophecies were true. Badol said in another thread that maybe we're the Chargers of the mid-late 2000s and that's what I saw yesterday. I'm sure everyone watched the same thing: a better team, with better stars simply beating a lesser opponent into submission. I made the point to a friend about our "relationship" with the Patriots now: the games will be close but until they address the talent gap, assuming we don't try to throw the game away like the first Dolphins game, we will simply overpower them because we are the bigger, stronger "man". Well that's what the Bengals did to us. That game could have been 54-10 the way they were moving the ball at will. I couldn't even fault Romo and Nantz for turning so viciously on the Bills because they're right, and they wanted to dissociate themselves from a fraudulent juggernaut. Everyone sucked. We had chances to score, and we didn't, but it wouldn't have mattered. The Bengals would have put up more points and continue controlling the game. The game I watched was literally over after the first quarter. What a time to have our only "got our heads handed to us game" of the entire season, but it's what it is. The canary was in the coal mine with the life or death struggles that we had against, quite frankly, lesser opponents. As we are not in the Bengals' tier, that weak opposition: Jets with literally no QB, Browns, Lions, Miami with their 3rd QB... (the list goes on)... shouldn't be in our tier. I sincerely hope the Bengals win it all. None of you know me, but my friends will attest that I surely drank the Kool-aid, and now, at the end, do I have crystal clarity that of course the Bengals should feel so disrespected. All this talk of the Bills and Josh Allen all offseason and well into the regular season when they're the defending f***ing conference champions. You want to talk motivation? We were 13 seconds away from going to the AFCC. They were minutes away from winning the whole f***ing thing, and had a chance on the final play. To all the haters, I raise my glass. Nothing can kill my love for the Bills but you guys were right, enjoy our misery. There's a lot to be done but not quite sure of what will be done and if we have the will or even the resources to do what's necessary. For me, it's starts with enough of this Cam Netwon/Big Ben/Andrew Luck bull***t where getting our QB (one of our only superstars) smoked every game is some kind of deviant fetish we're obsessed with and applaud. Protect him while there's still a chance. Get him more weapons so he doesn't feel like we have to do everything, because he simply does. I love McDermott for the turnaround he engineered for this sorry franchise, however, as a defensive guy you're going to have to do with less. So much money and resources spent on the defense and the same things happens every year: trampled by championship caliber offenses. Hey, losing Hyde and Miller and not having Daquan Jones last night obviously sucked but everyone's got injuries. The guys we lined up against were missing 3/5 of their starting offensive line and still pushed us around like we were a college team. How would we have fared with 3 of our lineman out? Frazier was part of the loving culture and foundation as well but he simply must go. We need new ideas on defense, and offense. Maybe Dorsey gets better in his second year. Maybe it's a function of not having enough star power on offense... or maybe we need new offensive brain trust to get the most out of our one, truly transcendent talent. Hopefully the people that actually make decisions figure it out because we need help. Hope you all have a great offseason. And if you're still watching, enjoy the rest of the playoffs, and stay safe and happy in your real lives.

How many wings can you eat???? Allen eats a bunch apparently.

What if he’s on a bulk? Mission is to add > 5lb USDA lean? Just what the league needs. “Allen spent the off-season adding bulk to his massive frame and becoming *significantly* stronger” -
