I don't know if I'd call it really bad. He had one that was just a perfect pass and catch against Anderson on the sideline and then a TD to Anderson where he had to cover him for over ten seconds.

Bad because of the timing and situation. 3rd and long and the team needed the stop and he did not get it done, beat by his man in the end zone after the Darnold scramble, gave up another long gainer I think in the 1st half. Just not a great day for our lock-down corner. He'll bounce back.

I think they missed Taron J. out there today, saw Bush singled up a few times - usually a couple steps behind the receiver.

This team is pretty banged up.

    mmmmmmm......athlete yes...football player--yet to be determined

Fair assessment, but I can see him getting better game after game with NFL-level coaching, and McD confirmed he was gimpy by the half. He has been taking too many shots - I actually think he takes less when he runs, but you have to build an offense that can pass from the pocket.

Also does not help when you are down to your last running back who is the size of a smurf.

    Im sorry but it’s true.

he learns nothing and does not grow by running.  He simply avoids the type of the plays that QBs need to learn how to make at the highest level.

Maybe several more L’s will make you see it.

Usually absolutes are not true - he needs to learn from throwing from the pocket, but staying in the pocket is not an option more often than not. Sure there were times protection held up, but that is by far not the norm. You cannot watch Josh and not say that he is learning. OBD has to fix his protection, give him some more weapons, and then he will learn more.

  4. Oh well, hope the better players get healthy. OK that came out wrong - hope all our injured players get better.

I thought the Jets were hungrier after they got spanked. Darnold is a more polished passer than Josh, but that was not unexpected with the coaching he had in college. I still like our kid's ceiling, but he needs to be able to feel like he can stand in the pocket without getting crushed.

Special Teams was abysmal, and our defense seems to fold more often than not when the pressure is on.

The Bills were playing with their 3rd and 4th string players and made a game of it without a single power runner left on the roster. Changes are a'coming this offseason. Expect an infusion of talent - some jettisoning of coaching staff.

This should be a fun rivalry to watch develop over the years.

Did Bowles save his job today?

What exactly is the defensive game plan for the Bills today? Rush 4 and make it as simple as possible for Darnold?

Was wondering the same thing - you have the Jest blitzing to throw Allen off of any timing. It is the oldest playbook out there for playing against rookie QBs... someone lost contain out there on the rollout.

Props to Darnold for salvaging a rough start to his game.
