OK.... Let's start with the basics. Yes, anyone can draw equivalencies such as breaking a window and entering is breaking and entering whether it is a window in an old store in a one-light town, or breaking a window in a Congressional building while Congress is in session. The same dumbing-down argument can be used comparing similar acts of violence. This is a poor-man's attempt at sophistry because they are not the same in regards to this nation's laws and how they are prosecuted, which seems to baffle the whining MAGA masses. I would start by reading about the differences between civil criminal code vs. federal codes governing something like riots for instance. Once you get through those differences we can work our way up to the other federal laws that are broken when you riot and storm into our US Congress as compared to something done within the jurisdiction of a state as would be the case in Seattle, WA. https://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-charges/rioting-and-inciting-riots.html Yes, they are different.

WOW ! Will the Lies Never end ?

At a minimum we need to invest more in education. I actually think the markets will do quite well under Biden. I also know that the GOP printed plenty of money and under Trump took our federal deficit from 19 trillion to 28. Do dems need better fiscal accountability? Yes. But the same can be said for the other side of the isle sans insurrection or demagoguery worship. -

You mean the William Barr that most had reservations about because of his monarchical views of the Presidency? The William Barr who was a career political fixer from back in the Iran Contra days. The William Barr who shielded Trump till he could no longer justify his election lies? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-55312016 You mean that innocent lamb? -
Yes. What I am saying is that violence random vs violent insurrection are different in both historical context and legal context. And the (assuming) Portland references are weak seeing as I have been there several times this past year and know that they are weak from a 1st hand take rather than a Fox News take. No federal buildings were occupied, just a lot of posturing nonsense around the perimeter. Any that did trespass on the property DHS was obligated to process for trespassing. A state federal building is not Congress. Now they did have an incident where armed right-wing protesters were let into their state capital building by a GOP representative and that is under investigation I believe. Seems to be a GOP trend to undermine democracy. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/01/12/oregon-capitol-riot-mike-nearman/

So what are we supposed to take from the political grandstanding and interruptions by this auctioneer? Got to love that style of cutting everyone off before they can answer with "I am limited on time" then rambling on with hyperventilating monologs. The innocent GOP trying to work together with Dems - seriously? The GOP and Trump administration quickly killed the Obama TPP, and dilligently sought over and over to overturn the ACA, DACA, withdrew from the Paris Accords, scrapped the Iran Nuclear deal....yeah just a hand-in-hand kumbaya group. The wiretapping nonsense was thoroughly investigated by a bi-partisan Senate committee and it was determined that there was "no spying on Trump". So...another lie put forward by this clown. Can point you to the senate intelligence report if you want to read about why Trump's claim of wire taps and spying on his campaign were (like most things he says) twisted untruths. Always find it interesting when the innocent folks start talking with their lawyers. https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/01/19/report-trump-was-talked-out-of-pardoning-his-kids-gop-lawmakers -

Trump is a fascist so I guess kicking him out is cause for celebration. Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/fascist-dictatorship-trump-second-term/2020/07/10/63fdd938-c166-11ea-b4f6-cb39cd8940fb_story.html Of course this article only hinted that Trump may not leave office peacefully. Well, we have seen how much he values free and fair elections, court decisions, and the rule of law when they do give him the results he demands. What a disgraceful display. -
Weather is the Bills kryptonite....
WideNine replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sure that is 100% accurate... I was looking for the right Allen interview and there are so many now, but what I heard him say was that he does not mind cold and snow, if it is the cold and powder variety. Wyoming had a lot of near 0 or below zero weather and drifting snow and If you live in a cold area you know the different kinds of snow weather I am talking about - when it is so cold that snow is more powder and the ice gets sticky. Maybe someone can locate that interview. He said the ball comes off his hands really well in that, but he said he did not like wet conditions and I think that probably includes sloppy sleet and snow conditions too. This is likely consistent with most QBs as the ball gets heavier when it gets wet and can be a bit more difficult to throw. The positive out of that is that it should affect both teams in regards to passing. I have to admit that with all the weapons Allen has it is a bit more fun when he can easily sling the ball around, but it is what it is. -
Allen mentioned that both the Titans and KC may have shown pressure looks, but they both used split-safeties 2-deep zone defenses that he struggled to figure out. Since then just about every team has done the same thing and Allen has learned how to patiently move the ball and when to take his shots. There were some exceptions. The 49ers tried to mix things up, but Allen picked them apart, Pittsburgh sold out on bringing the extra men and trying to get more hits on Allen, and Baltimore played more zone than I expected - especially considering that their DBs are some of the best in man coverage. Allen just is not the same QB he was when they first faced off, but Dabs and all the coaching staff will have their hands full this week.

This is just false equivalency. We have had riots throughout our country's history. They are unfortunate, and civil laws are broken and those caught are punished. What we have not had in 200 years of our history (before Trump and his non-stop lies took office) is citizens storming into our Congress and attempting to subvert/overthrow our government in the performance of its duties. To put the seriousness of the crime in perspective for those so-called "patriots". The last time our capital was overrun and ransacked was in the war of 1812 with the British. What they did is not comparable to an LA riot, or the Newark riots, or the Atlanta riots. What they did broke several federal statutes that I have already posted previously in this thread. And either you believe Trump is a complete moron and was unaware of what could happen when he whipped up his crowd of MAGA drones and said they needed to march on Congress and only through strength can they force a change, or he was complicit in trying to subvert and overthrow our government in its Constitutional duties to certify the electoral votes. And those that try to say that he jumped all over the riot to try to defuse it, you probably should take a better look at the timeline of events that better aligns with everything his aids have said since about him watching the riots on TV with rapt attention and only calling for calm after being told that he may be found liable for what they were doing. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/world/us/riots-and-the-us-capitol-overrun-the-day-that-shook-america-1.4452731 He was complicit, and how incredibly irresponsible and insanely selfish. One of the things that separates the United States from 3rd world countries and their dictators is our history of peaceful transition of our Presidency. Sure you can have legal arguments, procedural arguments, but no President before Trump has done something so terrible and embarrassing to this country. He has not made America great again, he has divided and weakened us and made us vulnerable in the eyes of our allies and enemies around the world. He is simply the worst president in our nation's history. How you cede power with grace in our great nation - brought to you by Vice President Biden when Trump won his election: https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4642251/user-clip-it-over-joe-biden-dismisses-electoral-college-challenge&fbclid=IwAR1wrQlIY9FSXbnVKRChlo5mK0Gw9S6jUPRVad5s6d4FC149CNXzUwfxaHk

If the story is true or not is not that relevant. Mahomes playing makes this a tougher game, but the constant comparing of Allen to Mahomes, that narrative that he is the bar that Allen and this team cannot step over, makes this the contest that many folks want to see. I get it, a part of me wants the greased rails into a SB, but it looks like we will have to earn that ticket. But if we cannot get past a Mahomes-led KC team then maybe we are just not quite there yet as a team. If we can, we go into that ultimate contest with the confidence that we can play with the best of them. I don't want this team to skitter away from a challenge like an iddy-biddy bug just because Mahomes is behind center. The same way I did not want them to give in to all the negative press about them facing the Ravens run game. Go out and execute and take it from them, or go home - that is the playoffs.
-
Nice, and I often thought that Mahomes' deep drops should have led to more sacks, but he had so many weapons that he could often improvise and dump it off in a hurry. However on those 2nd and 3rd and long plays where he wants to get it all back on a single play, he is definitely vulnerable to an outside speed rush. KC finds ways of getting it done and it is a credit to just how creative Andy Reid is, but they have not really blown out many teams this year.

The Bills need to prepare for Mahomes. Chad will not add any unique skill to the position that they need to account for. Is he more mobile, does he have a better arm? Prep for Mahomes and if it is Chad cheat towards stopping the run and blitzing off the edge/nickel ashe is a fairly stationary target. Not sure why the Browns dropped back into a soft zone that allowed Chad to ramble for a first down. I would have brought the heat to force a quick throw underneath or to bring him down. Their coaching seemed a bit slow to adjust throughout the whole game.
-
Also we just don't know Mahomes concussion history. Athletes coming up through HS and college often have more than what is reported. Protocols are tightening up, but many could easily fly under the radar. We all know that once you get a couple, it does not take a lot of torque or a big hit to get another.

Yeah it is kind of rare. I did read somewhere that our O-line as a group graded above average in pass-pro, but well below average in run blocking. We have more finese type linemen other than perhaps Mongo. They have been able to nullify some of the league's premier pass rushers. I think when we add someone like TE Smith to the lineup we run better but we do give up some pass options.

I see some comments from Chiefs' fans about how their defense handled Allen earlier this year. A lot of us have speculated that up to the back-to-back Titans then Chiefs games we lost Allen faced primarily cover-0 or cover-1 blitz defenses. It was "the book" on Allen - he could not hit his receivers in man coverage and you could pressure him into mistakes. Allen was tearing those up till the Titans came out with an unfamiliar split safety quarters zone defense and KC copied that...Allen had to learn and adjust. Not sure if posted elsewhere, but Allen talks about that at the 4:44 mark with Chris Simms.

First time I really just watched Mayfield outside of a bit here and there and his Oklahoma days. You give him 2-3 seconds in the pocket and he is surprisingly accurate. Less floaters and bad decisions than his college days. On hurried throws he lacks the zip and turfed a few. Not sure about a game plan the featured a lot of Chubb as a receiver out of the backfield.... Interesting game and it will be pretty cool watching these young QBs grow.

Justin Zimmer on Taron Johnson's Pick-6

Embarrassing NFL injuries: A Tampa Bay kicker years ago, Gramatica, injured himself celebrating a rather average FG... Former Jaguar's coach Del Rio brought an axe into their locker room and a piece of wood to demonstrate his motivational phrase of "Keep chopping wood". Their punter playing with the axe sinks it into his plant foot and was out for the season. A few others. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/762671-24-most-embarrassing-injuries-in-nfl-history -
They choked a bit tonight. The elements really messed with them and when the 2 field goals doinked off the uprights there was that look in their eyes of, "maybe this is not going to be our night"... They misfired at key moments too. How many of their shotgun snaps sailed on them or were fumbled till one took Lamar out trying to recover it. White probably crapped himself when Hollywood Brown got past him, but the ball sailed long...Allen had a few of those too. Tough winds. Our defensive line also did not play on their heels, they penetrated and were disruptive. Frazier also had some well-designed run blitzes called too. That approach did not allow the Ravens to setup their blocks. The Bills are good, but there must have been a change in management for the football gods the way the luck and positive karma has been raining down on our team. Edmunds and Milano played great, and Taron "Wheels" Johnson outran Lamar for a TD. Tied for the longest playoff one I think they said....will have to read about it. This team keeps finding ways to win. Really proud of our defense. Allen did not have to do a lot, but he knew when to throw the ball away and kept the offense on an even keel. AFC Championship here we come!
