  1. Yes, Beane and his staff are terrible at evaluating talent generally, especially with wide receivers.
  2. And Troy Franklin fell to the fourth round, he was there for the taking and I was hoping Beane would pick him since there was so many speedy receivers in this draft and we had so many pics after the horrible Coleman pic, but of course not! More defensive picks, that rarely pan out. Franklin was a glaring value in the fourth round. And Josh definitely hasn't been playing well, that's for sure. Glad we won though, but it was mostly James Cook today and thankfully with the added fresh pieces on defense, they played a lot better. I think McDermott is now calling the plays with Babich as well. Certainly seem to made a difference.
  3. Now that's what we want to see on offense!
  4. The only offense we've had and have currently is James Cook, even Josh really has not been playing well and he doesn't even run anymore unfortunately (mainly dances around in the backfield when the play breaks down which many do looking for somebody to be open that never is). Although, to be fair, there have been a few times where he's clearly missed seeing the field and there were receivers open, but that's the exception versus the norm. Josh does not look like himself this year with the exception, really, of the Raven's game. It is though absolutely maddening that we have, year after year, a collection of low-grade mediocre misfit receivers because Beane continues year after year to never use draft capital appropriately on the position. They also could be on cost controlled contracts that would help our cap situation, but he just brings in a couple pedestrian at best free agents every year which no other team is falling over to sign, just Beane. Most of our draft picks this year haven't even been playing! I have zero confidence that even if Beane & staff used some of the draft capital consistently every year on wide receivers, that he even knows how to pick the correct ones. With all the money & draft capital they've used on defense over the years, we have very few different makers to show for it, with the exception of maybe Ed Oliver. He has whiffed on so many defensive linemen that I'm not even comfortable with him making the correct pic when it comes to a wide receiver as he's bumbled that already multiple times when there were a lot of talent available and he didn't pick them or picked the wrong person. At least our defense is playing better today thank goodness and Cook has been playing lights out.
  5. "The only mistake Beane may have made" Give me a break, there's been so many since he took over as GM... it's hard to list them all, especially in the draft, not even considering all the mediocre free agent choices and horrible contract decisions over many years he made, including Von Miller to name just one (there's been so many). Giving Diggs a new contract and then cutting him because he had a little bit of an attitude issue, give me a break. We're not going to have all Catholic School boys if you want good players. Let's go back to drafting Cody Ford over DK Metcalf, it didn't take a rocket scientist at that point in the draft to determine he was a pretty sizable value where he could have been picked to most people, even fans. Furthermore, there have been many wide receivers that have been VERY good, that were NOT drafted in the first round since Beane has been here. And it's not even about wide receivers per say, he's missed on so many pics where there were players available (and he made a dubious pic instead) that went on to other teams, which were substantially better and many ended up as being stars. I'm actually being somewhat generous to Beane if you actually look at the totality of his entire record from the use of draft capital, the pics he has made, the pics he didn't make and should have, his staff in the ability to actually evaluate talent, the free agency acquisitions and of course a ton of questionable contracts for players that haven't come close to meeting expectations! Here's a nice fair thing, he's done okay in a few of the mid to late around pics. That will certainly get us to a super bowl. 🙄
  6. lol, yeah, it's not like there have been any drafts with great wide receivers all these years since Beane has been here and us having tons of pics to use them on a plethora of talent that's been widely available on cost-controlled contracts that can actually separate with speed. No, we need more defensive lineman cuz eventually McDermott will need them to eventually have a good defense. He is a defensive guru after all! It's comical.
  7. Correct, this is a culmination of so many bad draft picks, so many bad contracts and so much misuse of draft capital year after year! It's infuriating and Beane's big ego, clueless talent evaluators on his staff along with him and McDermott's stubbornness to ever change or adapt, is par for the course at this point sadly.
  8. Cosell is great... And yes, we've grossly mismanage the wide receiver position and continued to grossly under-invest in that position by not drafting and investing in the proper level of talent for Josh over many many years by Beane.
  9. And the reason for that cause is horrific drafting over many many years since Beane has been here! That includes picking the wrong people a large majority of the time and too many of them, especially on the defensive side of the ball, missing on people that appeared to be obvious except in Beane's mind (and his talent evaluators) and there to be picked, but were not... and being on the wrong side of almost every trade or contract!
  10. Brandon Beane also doesn't seem to realize or it doesn't seem to sink in his stubborn brain, that the wide receiver position is one of the most expensive in the NFL and drafting first round wide receivers that actually have talent is good cap management as well. That seems to completely go over his head because he's done none of that and basically drafted zero first round wide receivers since inception. The Diggs trade really doesn't count. However, the infatuation with spending almost all resources and assets every year drafting defense and drafting first round defensive players, then having to cut them or have those players rarely if ever play or end up being anything great, is another indictment on Beane and his staff's ability to know what the hell they're doing along with their consistently bad decision making and organizational management. Josh, he got lucky on cuz nobody knew for sure and that was more of a flip of a coin and it could have went in either direction, yet he's got a pass because of it. However, if you look beyond that and at the actual facts, the numbers, the players that he's drafted, the free agency acquisitions, the contracts he's given out since he's been here, it's been horrific.
  11. Yes... but one of just many issues, he has no clue on how to use the personnel we have currently and even if we had decent wide receivers, I wouldn't be confident at all that they would be properly utilized in this offense with Brady running it. Frankly, he's clueless on how to design plays or use players correctly. And if we had proper talent and unfortunately at wide receiver, we do not and haven't for years because of Beane's criminal neglect, he wouldn't know what to do but run cook straight up the middle of the offensive line like he has been doing on most all designed run plays. And sadly, even if Beane ever picked or tried to pick top quality wide receivers, I'm not so sure or have any confidence at all that Beane would or knows how to actually pick the right player because he's made so many blunders and so many bad pics year after year. He could have picked obvious players to most everyone but him, including even us fans that were screaming this is the better pic of who's available, yet he didn't make them and picked someone else which was almost always a bad pick to his detriment and hopefully soon, his downfall. And I'm sure many of you notice, but every time we run the ball, there's a running back in the background with Josh and it's of course, a run play every time... and every time we pass the ball, there's no running back in the backfield. That's pretty obvious to a high school level defense on what we're going to do, let alone an NFL defense. It's simply easy to figure out and pretty easy to stop the crap that's been being called & going on for a while now. And the defense is just on a whole nother level of disaster and has been really for years. They can't stop the run, they can't cover wide receivers, they can't blitz, they can't stop anybody, especially on 3rd and longs and they constantly fold when they're needed most. Yet good old master genius Beane (and many of you would constantly preach in Beane we trust) with I'm sure McDermott's constant meddling in what he picks, has been making monumental horrific draft capital mistakes and free agency acquisitions since inception (with almost all defense), yet the defense is still pathetic. Even more embarrassing, we have a defensive minded coach. At the end of the day, Brady does not have a great feel for the game, when and when not to call certain plays and just overall, he's a poor play caller. He calls the wrong plays at the wrong time, doesn't know how to use the limited personnel that we have currently to get the most out of, his schemes are mediocre at best, he doesn't know what to do or how to adjust properly as the game unfolds most of the time and any trick plays, he doesn't use the right players when called. So yes..., but he's just one of so many problems and issues with this whole organization and staff that's compounded rapidly unfortunately. Furthermore, it looks like it's finally coming home to roost for all to see at every level and the numerous cracks are starting to show all at once from the years of neglect and bad decisions! Yes, I'm still salty!!!
  12. And when I think of all the defensive capital, money, bad contracts and draft picks wasted on defense because of the results have been non-existent as they've missed the mark almost 90% of the time, it's maddening. While Beane pieces together some cheap has been wide receivers every year for Josh, I get even more angry.
  13. As I've said for years, Beane's drafting, free agent acquisitions and contract/roster management has been HORRIFIC! The facts are truly the facts, no way to spin it especially if you analyze each and every year like Virgil has laid out in this thread (which I've done as well and it's not pretty). Plus, now New England is back and they have a good roster with most definitely a better coaching staff than we do. All these years we've bumbled along just to get by, stay competitive and get in the playoffs with nothing to really show for it and now it's only going to get more difficult. Our roster is not great at all, we have a lot of average or older has been players on bad contracts and we are at or over the cap constantly... basically a ton of mediocre players at this point with a below average coaching staff. Plus the GM and our scouts IMHO suck. Yeah, each week that goes by I get more pissed off thinking about all the years since we've had Josh, Beane and his scouting department's piss poor drafting and McDermott's constant mistakes coaching. And sadly, Josh looks like he's regressed this year and especially the last couple of games, granted he has had very little talent at the wide receiver position, which has been a constant every year. He also doesn't seem to have the ability to diagnose defenses well, understand what they're doing to him throughout the game, adjust and make them pay like Brady and even Manning. When things aren't working, he looks shell shocked and plays like a rookie still and then starts pressing things that aren't there because he doesn't know what to do. However, it would make it a little bit easier and look a little bit better if he had some consistent high quality weapons particularly at the wide receiver position as I've said ad nauseam that can actually get open and separate. The only silver lining is that usually after a bi-week and after the media hammers them, they rip off some wins. I just don't have any long-term confidence that this whole staff and roster will win us a super bowl. Beane as well, certainly needs to be held accountable as he's floated above criticism for far too long because he got lucky and drafted Josh!
  14. Let's be honest, even picking Josh, Beane got somewhat lucky as it wasn't certainly a sure thing and it wasn't anything that he did that was genius about selecting Josh.
  15. Brady is a middle of the ground pedestrian and mediocre offensive coordinator, a generally poor play caller and even worse at scheming wide receivers open or designing solid creative plays that are actually creative and effective. When they run, it's obvious... there's a running back in the backfield... when they pass, there's nobody in the backfield and then the play becomes obvious to the defense. This has been a constant. All the run plays are generally just right up the middle into the heart of the defensive line of the other team, he is clueless about scheming people open or creating effective: keyword "effective" solid creative plays. The cute stuff is stupidly designed and not creative or effective at all. He just comes up with an idiotic designed play that most of the time fails and is called at the wrong time. IMHO, that's really not being creative, that means that you really have no idea how to create effective plays that work and know what to call and when to call it. They can't even execute some of those stupid plays correctly. Why isn't he using some or all of our running backs who can all catch well out of the backfield on 3rd Downs when they're rushing so Josh has a quick outlet to Cook, Ty or Davis, they are all are good pass catchers. That's just one thing that they should be doing more of, but there's a laundry list. As far as the defense, I don't think they'll ever get it straightened out with McDermott. They need a real good defensive coordinator or at least have McDermott call the plays again, which may not be a great improvement...lol, but certainly better than Babich. If you look at the receivers on most any other team, when the quarterback throws to them, they're wide open constantly against our defense. A lot of it has to do with having solid designed plays and or scheming the wide receivers open and also having wide receivers that can actually separate! Furthermore, it's also because of McDermott's stupid constant soft zone and nickel defense that he stubbornly never changes. Any of the backs or people in the backfield are like 10 yds plus away from the receivers when they catch the ball. They're generally wide open. Plus, all the bad drafting by Beane and the piss poor scouting department that can't judge talent over many years, bad free agent acquisitions, bloated contracts, overpaid mediocre players, not knowing when to let somebody go and not knowing when to keep people and of course, McDermott's perpetual life cycle of poorly prepared defenses and horrible play calling, especially in the biggest moments. All this is catching up to the whole organization and where we're at currently. I think most people are tired of this stagnation year after year, which amounts to never getting to the promised land. Not sure either of them are the right people to get the Bill's to a super bowl and actually win it. Also, they've wasted so many peak years of Josh Allen's career by the constant incompetence in many facets. And yes, that means rarely ever having top quality weapons and especially top quality wide receivers acquired or drafted for Josh to utilize that can actually get open. I'm just still pissed off when I think about the whole mess and the way they always lose and lose at the most inopportune times or in the games they really need to play well and win. The end result is always the same, never getting over the hump. All right rant off!
  16. Yeah the roster is the biggest problem, it's void of a lot of talent and guess what, Beane has been the GM for years constructing it and I'm sure with McDermott constantly prodding him for more defensive players. It's not a stretch to say that most fans are growing tired of both of them & their inability to get it right. And at the end of the day, here we are staring at a bloated under talented and over the cap roster with no quick way out.
  17. Yes, since he lucked out and drafted him, every year he fails to provide adequate weapons for Josh and most all the money and capital continues to go to the defense. His scouting department obviously doesn't know how to judge talent either because their draft choices have been quite frankly, mostly pathetic. Ask Beane how he feels now about beating up Jeremy White on the radio when he called him out about not drafting top round wide receiver talent for years. And to add insult to injury, we have such a mediocre bloated over the cap roster currently. No easy way out except blowing this ***** up and getting rid of the coaches and the GM. I've had it with the lot of all of them as they continue to go round and round in circles clueless about how to get us over the hump. The constant mistakes in every aspect continue to pile up, get worse and it's hard to just ignore it anymore. The drafting really has been a huge problem for a long time along with mediocre coaching and no innovation or change.
  18. Yes, it's overdue and it's the same ***** every year, they're stagnating even more and wasting a great quarterback. When you hear McDermott speak, he really has no clue and he's been saying the same ***** every year and fails to fix the many issues even though he's flooded with new draft talent on the defensive side of the ball annually... and that's his apparent forte! Furthermore, Beane has drafted horrendously for years, constantly overpays with horrible contracts, brings back old players, pays the players he's drafted way too much on extensions, doesn't know when to let go of players or when to keep players etc... Just so many mistakes for years in every aspect, constant undisciplined football and constant penalties these days every week. Free agency acquisitions have also been pathetic. Plus, alarmingly, Josh seems to be regressing!
  19. Beane may be the worse of the 2, but it's a toss up. Hard to tell who has made more mistakes. Lot's of blame to go around.
  20. I've been ready to move on from McDummy for years, just not convinced or confident Pegula would get the right guy.
  21. There are a lot of bad coaches out there and few if any good ones available.
  22. Correct, that is a big concern.
  23. So salty to see this same ***** again on prime time.
  24. Sometimes more than not, I'd like to strangle Beane and McDermott when I think about all the horrible draft picks, wasted capital, piss poor over priced contracts, underwhelming free agency acquisitions and pathetic coaching. They always fail or bumble in the end. And it makes me even more angry when I think of almost all of the draft capital that they've spent on defense and even in free agency, with nothing to show for it, especially considering Sean is a Defensive coach! The predictable idiotic coaching, poor play calling, not being prepared and embarrassing themselves in prime time is getting old. It's apparent they need fresh ideas, new coaches and a new GM unfortunately. Just pathetic!!!
  25. Swiss cheese defense per usual McDummy, you and Babich suck! The always used and rarely effective soft nickel and soft zone!!!
