Article: One Team's Draft Board
Patriot Killa replied to N.Y. Orangeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel like when you have specific needs as a team it’s more reasonable to rank around that rather than just rank. Idk, maybe that’s not how GM’s stack boards. I’m just saying. -
Josh Rosen’s coach said he would take Darnold 1st

That Aaron Hernandez guy was a pretty good Patriot Killer too though. -

Ahaha yeah that’s where I got it from. Guy murdered Patriot players. -

Probably. He’s my favorite QB in the draft. But that’s IF you guys trade up successfully. -

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxsports.com/watch/undisputed/video/1120668739575%3famp=true on who will be the better pro...Mora didn’t mean what you think he meant.. JIM MORA: I think they're both me great pros, first of all. Totally different styles of play, but I'm going to go with Josh, because he's a pure passer. He's got a motion that you would love to see in your mini camp. I mean it's just pure, and it's clean, and he can make every throw. He can throw with velocity, he can throw with touch. But I love Darnold because he's a gym rat. And he can he can improvise. He can make things happen on the move. They're going to play different style of offenses. I think Darnold gives you a little bit more running ability, a little bit more mobility in the pocket. But Josh has that way, like all the great ones, and the guys you played with, that kind of slip and slide around in the pocket, and find the window, and then they can get it there on time. They're both going to be great, but I mean, you know, Josh is one of my guys, I got to go with him. - Wow. So, there were some reports, and some conjecture that you and Josh weren't always on the same page, because he has a mind of his own and you definitely have a mind of your own. How was that relationship, how difficult was it to see eye to eye with the guy who has his own vision. JIM MORA: Never, first of all, I never heard that conjuncture. I've known him since he was 15. He and my daughter are close, close friends. Hell, the kid, he's fallen asleep on my couch a number of times. Three Christmases ago, he slept overnight on the couch. He was on one couch. I was on the other. I just text with him on the way in here. There was never a time we didn't see eye to eye. I love the kid. You know, I've tried since he was in high school, kind of guide him in a way that is going to prepare him to be a great NFL quarterback. And I've been lucky to be around guys like Joe Montana, and Dan Fouts, and Steve Young, and Matt Hasselbeck, and guys like that. And I've coached 20 NFL Hall of Famers in my career. And they all have certain traits. And just trying to guide Josh in the right direction in terms of the emotional part that it takes to be a great player, as you know, at that level. -
Rams trying to trade for OBJ per NYDN
Patriot Killa replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It does make sense but probably have to add a pick in. Imagine if the Giants grab Darnold..Browns get Allen and Jets go Rosen...that would shake everything up for the rest of the blue chip prospects. -

But they also have Derek Carr so why have 3 QB’s listed 1,2 and 3? -

Not our board. Look at all the DB’s. We are set at DB. It looks like the Browns board. I can’t think of another team that would have 3-4 DB’s In the top 15 along with Rosen behind Allen. -
We had a stacked team ready to go. #1 Defense #1 Rushing attack and a top notch offensive line...hell with a slightly better QB I think we could of seen a super bowl in 2009 or 2010. Beating Manning and the Colts and then Brady and the Pats back-to-back on the road has to be one of my proudest moment as a fan.

I don’t follow baseball much. Whole family does though. I grew up watching a young Jeter and the Yankees when my family would tune it, but as I got older I found it less and less interesting to sit through. So if I had to pick one i’d say the Yankees. I do however follow Basketball. Portland Trail Blazer fan. Love Damian Lillard

Been warm for a minute.. I honestly am starting to think it has to do with the fact we gave Suh and his agent a time limit to get back to us and they didn’t..so we decided to pull the offer. Chris has publicly stated “stepping in” is way overstating it. we wouldn’t pay ASJ a few extra bucks to keep him. Seems we are standing firm in FA this year..which is new.
-
Oh I totally understand where you are coming from. Even Jet fans on the forum have brought it up, it just seems like something that probably won’t be an issue going forward if he can be mature about things and learn to be a Pro QB. That’s what Mora his former coach was saying the other day..kid will have to learn how to be an actual pro and how his actions and words hold a lot more weight than he was previously aware of. But you definitely make a point.
-
No clue about the John Mara comments. It was reported the same day of the trade, that we did contact the Browns and Giants. A “WTF” situation to say the least....not sure what the deal is there. And it seems like Chris Johnson didn’t want Suh here and requested we pull the offer. I’m cool with that one. Big money for a 31 year old DE is pointless when you are rebuilding like we are..I understand the interest in him though.

Very true. His first two years here were great! Exotic blitzes and could at the very least give Brady fits..problem is he couldn’t adjust. He would call blitzes and get burned deep in coverage. Guy was a joke after you get past the initial honey moon stage where everything seem good.
-
Sorry you feel that way lol.

One of the best games in our Rivalry with Miami. Epic as hell.
-
Was talking to someone on here last night who mentioned the Perkins offense you guys were bringing in this season. Allen would actually be an extremely good fit for that offense, given his prototypical size and the style in which he plays. If you guys can develop him, he’s going to be extremely good on the pro level.
-
He sorta is but he sorta isn’t. I think Allen will be more successful. I also think he is the same mold of player..big..strong..good IQ..needs work in the same areas. But If you remember, last year Hackenberg was considered undraftable by PFF and various other outlets..Allen is considered a top 10 guy so obviously there is a difference. Allen can make the throws more consistenly than Hack could in college. Hack also had a terrible pro day while Allen’s pro day turned a lot of heads. Allen’s upside is extremely higher than Hackenberg’s, they just have the same skill sets and same sort of problems. I would think Allen is like what Hackenberg should of been. And yes, definitely hesitation to take a potential project with the #3 pick. Macc doesn’t want to get burned again..because he will be fired if he does. That’s why Rosen is the safest and surest pick at 3. We definitely go Rosen if he is there at 3.
-
I really doubt we don’t take Rosen at 3 if he is sitting there. I’m thinking Allen only becomes a real possibility if Rosen is gone. I mean, I have been wrong before but from what I know about what the front offices intentions are the board is set at Darnold, Rosen and Allen in that particular order.

http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/374745/Giants-expected-to-pass-on-non-Darnold-QBs According to ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan, USC's Sam Darnold is the only quarterback the Giants would take at the No. 2 overall pick. It sounds like the Giants' scouting grades on Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, and Josh Allen simply aren't high enough for GM Dave Gettleman to consider picking one of the non-Darnold quarterbacks at No. 2. Gettleman has a history of drafting running backs high -- he took Christian McCaffrey eighth overall in Carolina last year -- and he never traded down in any round of the draft during four seasons as Panthers GM. Barring Gettleman disregarding his scouts or reversing course on his historical anti-trade-down stance, Penn State RB Saquon Barkley and NC State DE/OLB Bradley Chubb appear to be co-favorites to go at No. 2.

Lauletta or Rudolph? Who is the better prospect?
Patriot Killa replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tbh it’s eire how similar Lauletta is to Jimmy G. Both weren’t regarded highly until after the season. Both went to the East/West Shrine game, Senior Bowl, ect. Both have similar skill sets, both were/are in position to be picked up by the Patriots rather easily. difference is the Pats don’t have 2-3 years for him to sit behind Brady like Jimmy did......or do they? Hoping that Brady retires after next season. I can’t see this dragging out much longer. -
Was the point really for a QB?
Patriot Killa replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it’s the goal of any and every team that doesn’t have a QB..QB is single handily the most important position of them all and in this era of passing its vital to at least have an above average QB. Recent years have shown that you dont don’t have to have an elite QB if you have a great supporting cast around him. we seen journeyman like Case Keenum and Nick Foles have success in the playoffs because the schemes were built around their strengths and supporting cast further helped them along. With all things considered it definitely was the Bills goal in my eyes to grab a QB and begin craft around him. Just as it is the Browns, Cardinals and my Jets goal to get a QB and build around him. You guys have so many picks..I almost say stay at 12 and pick players that can really help your guy as well as grow with him in the new offense. Then again, you don’t know who will actually be there at 12 so there calls for good reasoning to trade up. All and All, I believe you guys can put together a competitive team with a rookie QB just as any team can with the right moves. 3-4 years from now to look back on it and see how the AFC East looks without Brady is going to be wild. It’s all about creating for the future in the AFCE right now. Because I can tell ya’ now...as soon as that blow hard Brady leaves and Belicheck retires..the Jets, Bills and Dolphins will have a much easier path to the playoffs.
