  1. One high-end receiver and this offense would have been unstoppable.

I understand keeping an eye on the future, but I don't just want to keep losing in the divisional and championship rounds long-term.  At some point we need to go all-in, and Beene refuses to do it.  Do we want a Super Bowl ring, or the consistancy of almost being there?

  2. This season they want true parity.  There aren't any true runaway favorites.  No overpowering, steamrolling teams.  Powerhouses like Buffalo, KC and Baltimore are faltering.  Upstarts like Indy, Denver and Carolina are joining the fight...though even they appear flawed.

Keeps the season more interesting for more fans, and as a result keeps more $$$ coming in.

  3. Actual math statistics, from a college course...

...what are the odds of getting a 'heads' on a coin?  50%.  Now, lets say you flip a coin three times and manage to get 'heads' three times.  What are the odds you get 'heads' again?  50%.  Because the prior flips that already occured have no bearing at all on the next flip.

So no, we do not need to lose the turnover battle on purpose to raise the odds against doing so later.

For KC to get the tiebreaker over the Bills they would have to win their division. At this point the Bills are a heavy favorite to win the AFCE. KC is going to have a hard time winning their division this year. If they make the playoffs as a WC and the Bills win the division then any potential playoff game is in OP and won't matter who wins the regular season game between them.

Agreed.  I can see both arguments.  But I stand by KC potentially missing the playoffs outright.

  5. Our pass rush was nonexistent last season.  If you try and fix it, the best you can do is get enough players to fix the starting 11.  You can't get enough players in one offseason to not only overhaul the starting line, but also provide depth.

All yesterday proved is that if our starters go down, our pass rush goes with them.  Alarming, yes, but not unexpected.

Now if the season begins, and our starters can't get to the QB, *then* I'll push the panic button.

I remember Josh's rookie year a lot different than you do. I saw the flashes of brilliance you want to see in a rookie & thought he was the answer at QB.  If you didn't think much of his rookie year, you were relying too much on stats.  Visually, he had "it". I was so confident in his ability that the next year I was all over Bills futures & won big. I also had the audacity to tell a Jets fan on my bus on opening day 2019 that Josh was a future HOFer. I guess since I rely on my eyes and never on stats, I remember Josh's rookie year a lot differently.

You made my point.  I was never down on Josh.  I saw the same flashes.  But, onto your memory, do you remember these forums that year, calling him "Wrong Josh" and a bust?

The point to my reply was that a year is nowhere near enough time to fully evaluate a draft pick.

Would love a down like that, but the conversion percentage should be around 10-15%, I think. How frequently are 4th and 15s converted? If it falls in that range, then yeah that’s the sweet spot. The biggest issue would be officiating. Let’s say the team fails to pick up the first down, but oh wait, a DB tugged on a WR’s jersey. 5 yards and an automatic first down. That would be nightmarish.

True.  Maybe make a defensive penalty a replay of down, unless it's a personal foul?
