THIS DIDNT NEED ITS OWN THREAD !
I was debating to make this thread or not, but reading all the other threads about posters stating to go BPA, I really didn't want to voice my opinion on 20 different threads, when I could just voice myself by starting a thread. I'm not looking to get much traction starting this thread, but it was a much easier way to go rather than commenting on every other thread.

It seems everybody was on board to trade up for a quarterback. After the Jets traded up to #3, some posters are okay taking BPA with our draft picks. I am not saying that's the wrong route to go. But ever since McDermott became head coach he had a plan (hence trading in draft last year for a 1st rd pick this year). When Beane was hired as GM he was certainly on board with the plan(hence trading sammy, darby, dareus, tyrod and glenn). Beane even stated himself, that in this league you need to find the franchise qb in order to be successful. It's easy to see the plan (process). Accumulate all the ammunition you need to trade up and get ur guy! And he did a great job setting us up for free agency next year. No matter if it's top 5 or the back half of 10 (1 or 2 qb's will slide), Beane will trade up and get the guy they want! Next year in free agency and draft we are in a great spot to fill out the roster, while our franchise qb (hopefully we get the right guy) is already on our roster.
The #1 part of "the process" is finding a franchise qb, and McBeane is hard at work for the last year to make this happen.
Trust the process!!

I know. I used to work in a bakery lol. That's why he has to wear 13....plus, he can't have Jimbo's number lol
Gotcha bud, I feel if Mayfield slides, Beane would trade up a few spots to get him and not risk dolphins/cardinals going to get him.

The "bakers dozen" actually stands for 13.
But I get what ur saying, and would be thrilled if he fell to 12.

Rosen is going to go #2.
I honestly don't see this happening. I feel the giants are in win now mode (hence the big contract to solder and trade for ogeltree). Giants only have 5 picks, whether it's the bills or another team, I see them trading back to get more picks.

100% agree with this.. I feel we will trade up, but maybe not in top 5, but I've been thinking this for awhile.

This is not to boost Jackson but a honest question. Have the Bills ever had a Heisman trophy winner before?
Doug Flutie won the heisman award! He was a nominee in '83 and won it in '84

I doubt the Colts trade out of 6 with us. They could have traded their 3 with us, but didn't wanna move back that far in the draft.

This list shows them as having their 3rd rounder they gave to us for Tyrod- is this list correct aside from that?
No this is not updated. They also gave up 2 picks(1 this year and another next year) for Jarvis landry. And gave up a pick in a trade made with the patriots. So the charts shows 3 picks that shouldn't be there.

That makes sense. However its been tweeted by former NFL exec Greg Gabriel that the NYG do not do trades with the Jets. Might have something to do with it.
I could see this being true. Hoping for the best, and no matter what happens I'll support the rookies. Atleast we finally seem to have a great HC/GM duo!

Let's just say bills did trade with Colts to #3. Don't you think jets would swing a trade with the giants for #2. Giants would prob do it bc at pick #6 they would prob be able to get Nelson at that spot. If giants stay put they will go barkley/nelson. But if jets traded with them they could pick Nelson and pickup a ton of extra picks.

It would make sense considering they signed two QB’s. That tells me they need to buy time for a rookie.
I agree with this statement. Nobody knows what exactly is gonna happen. We will see it all unfold in less than y weeks.

There is only 1 answer to this question, an obvious NO!!

1st one Jimmy Clausen or Hackenburg?

You like my answer and you know it!!

If you were GM of the Browns would you trade out of #1 knowing you can just stay put and pick the top QB and still have a boatload of draft picks to fill out your roster? The answer is no.
It all depends. Do they view 1 qb higher than the others? Or do they have them all in 1 tier? By picking up even more high end draft picks trading out of #1. They take qb at #4, and have all the ammunition to trade up for guys they want. They could move all over the draft board with all those picks. So to answer your question, yes I would but ONLY if they don't have 1 qb rated higher than the others

If there is a franchise guy at 1 why would the Browns trade the pick? Your answer better not include the words Tyrod or Taylor.
My thought is they would trade back to accumulate more high draft picks, but they would take their qb at #4 and have the ammo from trading 1st pick to fill roster with top prospects

It would take 12, 22, 53, 56, 65, 96.
In other words all of our picks in RDS 1-3.
So be it, if that were the case(if we can get it done for less, even better). We have not swung for a franchise guy in forever. Let's atleast take the chance. And we are well set up next year to fill out the roster during free agency.

Maybe, but we need to step back a bit, imo. Prior to our trade to 12, getting into the top 5 was a pipe dream. I don’t think they necessarily have to panic now.
It’s a very good QB class, but perhaps a bit overrated. Do we really want to give up what it would take to get to 1 or 2 now?
To be honest, hell yeah I would. I like the idea of filling out the roster. But, when is the last time we went for it all? It's been too Long not to try. If we mortgage a lot for a guy and he doesn't pan out, so be it. But I wanna ATLEAST take the chance(in a strong qb draft class) to land a franchise guy.
-
I too think they select a qb. But nobody knows for sure what's going to happen, so I'm just voicing another possibiliy for posters to think/talk about
-
I wrote about this in a couple other threads. But instead of voicing a possibility 10x's in 10 threads, this is the only reason for starting a new thread for the same topic.
So many people are assuming the browns are taking a qb 1st overall. Which brings me to this...
The browns already named their starter. If u take a qb 1st overall, why would u not let him compete for the job? I understand u may want to sit him for a year, ect... But why not ATLEAST let the top overall pick in the draft compete for the job in camp?
They also signed Carlos hyde. So maybe the browns value draft picks over barkley. Maybe the browns will trade back (esp since they already own pick #4) for high draft picks and fill their roster with top end talent.
I'm not saying they won't select a qb with 1st pick(I also think they will), but just another possibility to think about.

I'd imagine they've already talked with NYG. It seems the Browns are going QB at #1 , leaving Barkley for the Giants. I don't think they pass on him unless they are made an offer they simply can't refuse. Do they move up for the 3rd QB off the board , with CLE or maybe even DEN ( I don't think they take a QB at 5) ? This may not unfold until draft day now, as picks come off the board and they see who NYJ and CLE take at QB.
I'm not saying they are not taking a qb with 1st overall pick. But browns already named their starting qb. If they take qb 1st overall, why wouldnt they let him compete for the job? They also signed hyde, so maybe they value more picks over Barkley at #1. Maybe they want to trade back for high draft picks to fill out their roster with top end talent. Nothing is set in stone and possibilities are out there.

Browns aren’t trading the top pick. You might as well just eliminate that possibility. Just like eliminating the idea that we already have a deal in place for the 2nd pick
Why eliminate possibilities when nobody knows what's gonna happen? Cleveland already named their starting qb. If they were gonna take a qb 1st, no way they don't let him compete for the job. They signed hyde, so maybe they value draft capital more of an asset than taking a rb with overall pick. They trade, and pocket high draft picks, by doing so. And all of a sudden can fill out their roster with top talent.

Why would it matter who got to 1 if the assumption was that a QB was being taken regardless?
Key word is "assumption".. Let's assume browns really are considering barkley. If bills announced they are trading to #2, another team could jump the bills with an offer browns can't refuse.

Doesn’t really make any sense to not announce a deal that is allegedly done. What vmbenefits are there to waiting until the draft?
One benefit I could think of, is if bills and giants have a deal and announced it last week, teams like the jets/broncos/dolphins would know the only way to get ahead of bills would be moving to #1. Could offer browns a kings ransom for 1st overall. Browns would still have 2 top 10 picks and prob pick up a 1st next for trading back, plus all the other picks they would accrue.
Why not give McCarron an honest chance?

They call it "the process" for a reason. I highly doubt McCarron was part of the thinking behind "the process". Plus Beane had no intention of even signing AJ until the night before he actually signed him. Beane admitted that he contacted Hue Jackson and previous coaches the night before McCarrin put ink to paper. If they really thought highly of him, McBeane would have done their homework prior to the night before.
