  1. Agree with Doc that defensive holding /illegal contact should not be an automatic first down. The holding calls were out of control last year, and they are significant/ game changing penalties right now with how they extend drives. Which is ridiculous for what are usually ticky tak calls that are not called consistently.

eliminate offensive holding penalty.  it's pointless to call occasionally a penalty that happens on every play.

Also agree with this, with the exception that it should still exist for egregious instances only. An o lineman wraps his arm around a guys neck, or grabs a fist full of jersey from behind etc.

I would offer that Buffalo is even LESS optimal to host the draft then they are a Super Bowl.  Based on the number of attendees just in Detroit this year - that's way more people than would be in town for the Super Bowl, so where are they all going to stay?

A lot less people would attend the draft in Buffalo. Which is fine, Detroit broke records for attendance. They are not all like that.

He hasn't turned anything around though. The latest playoff loss exemplified his worst traits. Poor personnel decisions. Poor defensive scheme that led to fish in a barrel offensive production. Coaching brain farts at critical moments of the game. I don't think McDermott has improved as a coach since 2020 to be honest, and last year if anything I thought he took a step back in certain areas.

But man I am already so sick of this conversation. I have no choice but to be in wait and see mode so that's what I'll do.

Ive been ready to move on from McDermott for a little while now but I strongly disagree that the latest loss was on coaching. That one was 100% on the players, more specifically the WRs, and of course bad injury luck.

I watched all the PCs/interviews last night (as well as Bean's Chris Long interview) - one thing that stood out to me was a recurring theme of receivers individually or as a collective being very focused and willing to contribute any way they can - with lots of leadership and guys with different skill sets.  Thought it was interesting too that Beane singled out Hollins as a "glue guy" that "brings everyone together" which leads me to think he has an inside track to be on the 53.  At this point they really seem comfortable with the make-up of the WR room.

Also thought it was a cool moment when Josh just lit up when MVS yelled something at him off screen during his PC.

As time goes on I am becoming more comfortable with the WR room we have. Good mix of players and skill sets. Good depth. And I think there will be a much better energy among the guys next year.

I don't expect to hear any low positive BS from Josh next year.

Add in a guy at TE who has the poten to be an elite player and I think we will just fine.

I hope so, but I don’t see it with the signing of Smoot.  1.75m gtd.  that’s one of my least favorite offseason moves, although I get it.  He’s the power backup end.  I just don’t like the player and would rather we held out and  gotten someone with more pass rush upside.

Groot, AJ, Von, smoot are pretty much locks looking at contracts.  Solomon, Jonathan and toohill battle for 5th.  I like soloman and I expect him to battle Jonathan.  Hopefully we can get the remaining on the ps.

Yea, I really dislike the group they put together. Maybe even more so than WR. Very little pass rush upside, outside of a raw 5th round pick.

The hope is Von returns to his old self, but that's likely a long shot and certainly not something you can rely on.

Someone I know says he has "confirmations" on Bills/Dolphins week 9 (which lines up) and Chiefs week 18 (which makes 0 sense as the NFL normally likes division games that week and would rather have that matchup as the Game of the Week in October)

There is no chance chiefs is Week 18 when teams could be resting starters etc.
