Where's Josh McDaniels? He should be the front runner in my opinion or heavy consideration.

#1- McDaniels runs the same offense (Erhart Perkins) that Allen flourished under with Daboll he even knows that offense more so then Daboll.

#2- McDaniels days as a head coach are over he had 2 chances so if we hire him we don't have to worry about losing him or him getting job interviews during the playoffs.

#3- McDaniels has big time experience in big time games and knows the recipe to winning it all .

#4- McDaniels offense is perfect for the players we have already on the team I can see knowing exactly how to use Cook, Kincaid, Knox, Shakir & Diggs and especially Josh Allen.

#5- I love how McDaniels knows how to diagram plays for the passing and running games and how they both correspond with one another. McDaniels uses every part of the field.

#6- The fact that McDaniels offense is very similar with Daboll offense would make his hiring a smooth transition for Josh Allen and the rest of the offense. McDaniels might not be a good head coach but he's a great OC with a ton of success on the highest levels of this game. I would love to see how he will use Kincaid and Knox in 2 TE sets as well as Cook in the passing game . McDaniels should be considered for this job no doubt about it .

I'd be good with it. I thought BB was going to get that Atlanta job and take McDaniels with him, but I'd do it.

McBeane have a weird tendency to make decisions based on what appears to be a best-case scenario way of thinking.  My concern is that Brady would be another of their “hope for the best” maneuvers, most of which have not panned out.  I am not against it but I would want them to hedge by adding some experienced voices to the mix, even beyond what they’ve already got in Boras and Kromer.

Yeah I could see Pete Carmichael Jr. coming over, among some others. And I really like Brady, but it is certainly feels like the path of least resistance.

Eh, she's OK.   Everyone has different priorities.

She has her own money and a career that keeps her occupied........those are her most attractive features from my perspective.

But they also seem to align with the priorities of off-season vacation Josh.

I'd just rather see Josh find a no-doubter and settle down so he feels compelled by circumstance to go to work instead of a different golf course every day.

    Worked for Mahomes and Brady.

I would not wish Mahomes’ wife on my worst enemy, but if I were Josh I would take the Joe Namath/Wilt Chamberlain approach to that side of life.

  4. I’ve been highly critical of the braintrust here, but I would never say they are content. I would say stubborn. McDermott had flaws, and coaching is sometimes instinctual. I would never say he isn’t trying to get better, but it does feel like they don’t want to rock the boat.  But they work their butts off, no doubt.

@noacls, share with the class a season, college or NFL, in which Kingsbury was successful.

I know this isn’t directed to me, and again I am not trying to argumentative, just kind of presenting my thought process on this, knowing full well it isn’t going to happen.

So are you talking win/loss record here? If so you are 100% correct, he has a losing record as HC in both the pros and college.

But he’d be coming as an OC, so to me his overall record isn’t significant in this case. I look at it has he coached guys like Case Keenum, Johnny Football, obviously Mahomes, Davis Webb, Baker Mayfield and they all put up some ridiculous numbers in his system. The guy can coach offense and that is what I would want him to do here. Let McDermott coach the defense. Based on what I just watched, I think it’s clear you have to try to outscore KC, and if that’s the goal, Kliff is the guy imo.

Our Jedi knight QB could use a little slice of the dark side of the force. Forget about complimentary football, let’s beat everyone by 70 with our unicorn.

Kingsbury has literally never been successful at any level. He’s horrible.

And he’s a douche bag.  If Mike McDaniel and Aaron Rodgers were to have a baby, it would be Kingsbury.

I mean I will say this, I am not sure he is a good head coach, but he certainly knows the offense side of the game he took the Cardinals to the playoffs in 2021 despite Murray and Hopkins being in and out of the lineup, no weapons, no offensive line.

And I've said, I am happy he is a douchebag. That is what this team needs. A little shot of that attitude to make things happen and get results. Not feel-good growth mindset and empathy garbage.

And it isn't worth arguing about because it isn't going to happen. But that's what I would do if I had the choice.

Personally, I don't know what to think of Brady.  But I watch the year-end pressers and try to read between the lines, and I didn't hear a ringing endorsement of Brady from McDermott.  Made me think he is not a lock.

Any hot, up and coming guy would love to have a chance to call plays for Josh.  I wonder if coordinators like working for McDermott.

To me, that guy is Zac Robinson. Played in the league and is coming from the Rams staff. My issue is with a defensive head coach coach, the guy they hire becomes the CEO of the offense. I'd want a guy with more experience in that role and that's why I like Kingsbury or Arthur Smith even though their recent work has been less than stellar.

Completely disagree on White.  I'm not guaranteeing he's with the team, but you underestimate White's meaning to the team and McDermott in particular.  In McDermott's PC he specifically noted how White was HIS first draft pick.  And that's true, because Beane wasn't even with the team, yet.  I could see them asking White to restructure his deal so it looks like a pay cut with incentives, but I don't think it's highly likely we'll just outright cut him.  I don't even know if we're able to do that when he's still injured.  Probably need an injury settlement.

I did think he was out, but I've kind of changed my mind. I do not think they are going to be willing to let him go until they know for sure that he can't play anymore. So I think they take the hit in 2024 and then if he's bad they cut him with a minimum dead cap in 2025.

Would he force Josh to do that stupid college clap snap count that he had Kyler doing in Arizona? That would drive me nuts.

I'm a high school HC and my QB asked if we could implement the clap....and let's just say it was a no.

Maybe because Kingsbury ended up being a disaster and the media has learnt not to overhype a guy who hasn’t done a lot  …?

I like Kliff, but he needs to take a coordinator position with a team with an elite QB to re-build his value before he gets HC consideration again. He was not ready and doesn't care about defense.

I really like the Washington job in this cycle. The owner knows that a rebuild is necessary and with the second pick, you can get the QB. They also have a mountain of cap space. They also have 6 picks within the first 102. The new coach and GM can reshape that franchise.

I agree. They do have some skill guys as well with Dotson, McLaurin, and Robinson and two great defensive tackles. They need to rebuild the back seven of the defense and fix their offensive line. They could even let Sam Howell get killed for a year and sit their shiny new QB, especially if it winds up being Drake Maye.

    Draft 2.  Don’t care where.

And Trade candidates using draft picks or roster players I’d explore:

    DK Metcalf

One of the Packers kids - Watson
    McClaurin or Dotson

    Jameson Williams

    Hollywood Brown

    Courtland Sutton

    Drake London

Players I’d package to get a WR along the lines of the guys above that might make sense:

Elam OR….Benford.  This team just develops CBs.  If we can draft one to replace Benford and it gets us Drake London - yes I’m doing that.  Also, I’m a bit concerned Benford is injury prone. Would much rather ship Elam - but I’m not sure he has any value.

Rousseau.  We signing him?  Entering year 4.  What do we got here?  Washington needs DEs.  Maybe we can get Dotson - who I love and would be a better version of Smoke.

James Cook.  Yep.  Peak value might be right now.  What if Washington wants to pair him with Robinson or the Packers to pair with Aaron Jones.  2 more seasons then he’s gone via free agency anyway.  Don’t get too attached.

Just spit balling ideas not saying I would or want to trade those guys.  I just think they’re realistic trade pieces for a football trade or maybe a package to move up in the draft and get more picks.

I’d add Brandon Aiyuk to the trade list. He is set to play on the 14 million 5th year option. Nots sure they will move him, but you can’t pay everyone and they are going to have to allocate some money to the defense.
