  1. Best case scenario we move up to #2 with Indy or San Fran and take Darnold or Rosen. Josh Allen would be ideal if we stay put. Mayfield, Jackson and everyone else I'd roll the dice on in second round because it would be easier to disengage if they looked cruddy. First round QBs are a 2-3 year investment and I don't think we should just hitch our wagon to anybody.

Shouldn't Dareus be vilified here? How many pot smoking incidents? How many times was he so lazy he couldn't even get to meetings? The guy needed a change of scenery obviously but you're acting as he was some dominant force this season for us, he had like 12 tackles and a sack or something ridiculous at the time of the trade while being paid a boat load of money. Obviously not having the stench of him in the locker room sucking the life force of the rest of the defense was better off than Dareus being on the team.

And your comment about this team being ran by a glorified HS HC is ridiculous, do you see this talentless team? Were still in the playoff hunt with a mediocre QB, an inept OL, a running team in a passing league, no name Linebackers and a front seven without "your" elite Dareus in it, that is outstanding HC imo, the only thing that can top it is a trip to the playoffs which isn't out of the realm of possibility but not looking likely.

    Good post, incredibly well put.

  3. I think there are 3 QBs this year that have a really good chance of being very good. Rosen, Darnold and Allen. Those are the only QBs I want to see in a Bills uniform and I would gladly give up both 1sts and a 2nd next year plus a midround pick to make that happen. We have many holes to fill, I understand that but those positions can be filled in free agency, QB cannot be filled in free agency. Mortgage everything for Rosen, Darnold or Allen.

    What wait till next year?

are you willing to give up 3 x 1s and 2nd this year or next for Darnold or Rosen?

    Im not.

Have to see how the draft plays out.

I think Baker or Allen or Lamar could all be there at 15 or 18 or wherever we are.

im not giving up my entire draft and a part of next years to move up.

We need OL, LB and DT/DE

But thats just me....you do whatever you want in your fantasy worlds.

We both have the same say.....

    What purposefully avoiding?

You assume we can get Darnold or Rosen by giving up the farm.

you assume that Cleveland or NYG won’t take them. They will and aren’t trading out.

    So what do you do??

are you going to trade the farm for the 3rd pick and take...... a QB?

I think we have a real shot at Josh Allen, I think he could be developed into an elite QB. Lamar Jackson I think you take with the understanding that he will never be a 3,500-4,000 yard passer. He is no different than Tyrod as a passer but definitely an insanely fast QB on Michael Vick like proportions.

  5. Derrius Guice RB from LSU, not sure where he is projected to go but between him and Shady we would dominate on the ground. I love him, I think he'll be a solid pro.

All for a Quarterback, whatever it takes.

    My preference is Darnold.

i think Rosen and Mayfield are lower on their board than most people’s boards.

If it cant be Darnold, I’d go after Lock/Rudolph/Allen. Allen has is critics, but the kid has some insane tools.

Rosen is going to be great. Allen has all the tools you look for, he is not a sure thing but he had no help, I think he is the best prospect behind Rosen. Darnold would be unwise to declare.

The part where you said "don't consider myself an expert " was a good summary of this post. Roquan in the second? After the combine, don't be surprised to see him top 10. As for Josh Allen, I doubt they need to trade up. Rosen? Yes. Allen? No.

Milano is at Weak Side.  We need a real middle guy and Smith is that guy.  I could see them definitely pulling the trigger on Smith and Vea if they are there.  They want a strong defense and right now it's not not that because they do not have the players.  And with Kyle Williams most likely retiring, I'd say they need two DT's.

If he continues his outstanding play he's not going to be there in the 2nd round.

Roquan reminds of Posluszny coming out. I think he'll be a good player but I don't think he will be awesome. Top 10? Really top 10? No way. He doesn't have anywhere near the talent of a Patrick Willis or Luke Kuechly. I don't doubt that he'll be good but I don't think he is a first round pick. JMO.

Its the wait until next year crowd.

    This is the year.

There are so many armchair scouts, and GMs on this board, critiquing each QB as if they actually know what a good QB looks like.

Im also amazed at the guys who say you only trade up for a can’t miss player,as though they happen every year. You know, the Andrew Luck,Peyton Manning’s of college football.

    Geesh.

Isn't that the point though? What's wrong with armchair scouts and GMs? Is it wrong to form your own opinion or would you rather us gobble up what Chris Brown and the Bills establishment feed us like mindless buffoons? Try thinking for yourself sometime big guy.

Depends what they think of Glenn's health.  For me Dawkins is NOT a right tackle.  He is naturally much more comfortable with left sided movements.  I think he has much more T/G versatility than L/R versatility. So slide him in at LG as Richie's long term successor and move Richie to the right (where he has played before) for his final season here.  So for me If Glenn is healthy I'd go:

    LT - Glenn

    LG - Dawkins

    C - Groy

    RG - Incognito

    RT - ??

    Interesting perspective.

Not sure how many Oklahoma games you watched but Mayfield throws most of his passes from the pocket as this video of the Big 12 Championship demonstrates. He also has nice wheels as he made plenty of nice runs for first downs and a nice long run in the third that shows he is plenty fast.

I didn't see too many 3 step drops or even 5 step drops, from what I've seen, most of his big plays come from the shotgun or from scrambling outside the pocket. I'm not a pro scout, just a casual fan, I would not touch him in the 1st, I don't think he is an NFL QB period. Too small, average athlete but his arm is solid.

This is the year for the Bills to get a franchise QB. We have the picks and the players are their for the taking. The Bills have a prospect QB already Nate Petermen, have signed free agents before (Tyrod, Fitzpatrick, Bledsoe) and it has not and will not work. You must take a gamble for greatness instead of hoping for the best.

There's only two players I would trade up for: Josh Rosen or Josh Allen. Rosen is light-years ahead of every QB in this year's class. Josh Allen has really big potential, he could be a playmaker for a long time. Lamar Jackson I would draft if we stayed put, I would not trade up for him because his a boom or bust prospect. He is the fastest man on the field and has immense physical talent, solid arm but he sees ghosts and often only goes through one read. He is a faster version of Michael Vick.

*Sam Darnold needs to stay in school. He is just not ready yet, he makes a lot of throws that would be picked off in the NFL and if he goes to a team with an unstable OL, keep in mind he is very slow and not very mobile. Shows flashes of being an elite QB, I just don't think he's ready.

*Baker Mayfield I would not take, period. Too small, not very fast, shotgun only passer and not a pocket passer. His arm is ok though.

I don't follow college football as closely as i used to, I just don't have the time. I'd like LB, I really want a qb but it's a crap shoot. And I don't know anymore than anyone else to confidently say I want one guy. WR we desperately need, and I'll agree we need an RB.

But what I do feel confident in is, creating holes, filling holes with below average talent. Taking dead cap money, then using a high pick to fill a position that has become a self inflicted need is just bad management. I'm done with it. It's almost an absolute that they can not go DT in the first unless they trade down again and net another number 1, just from how bad the optics will look in my opinion.

Forget Baker Mayfield, I'd really really like Josh Allen. I don't consider myself an expert but I would trade up with San Fran for Josh Allen. He is a pure pocket passer, 6'5 and got some wiggle, reminds me of Big Ben.

Oh and btw, McShay picked Roquan Smith with our 1st, that's not a bad pick but I think that's a bit early for him. I'd love him in the 2nd round.

  12. I can't comment on who I want there but I know for sure, I do not want anything to do with Baker Mayfield. Tyrod Taylor is a better player than Mayfield. He has average size, average athleticism, decent arm but he makes all of his plays in the shotgun or outside of the pocket. I think if teams forced him to stay in the pocket he would disintegrate. We already have that in Tyrod, project player with low upside.

If they go DT in the first round this regime is no different than any other we've had in the past 17 years and I'd fire them.

You trade a DT for a 6th, create a hole, and then draft another DT in the first? I'll lose my mind, I understand the mocks are largely pointless so it's even worse than crying over spilled milk. But if they did this, I just don't even want to fathom it.

I'd rather we take a RB, WR or LB in the 1st. Problem with drafting DTs high is that when it comes time for their 2nd contract and they get paid, too often have I seen them get lazy. I don't think it's smart to pay 330lb+ big men millions of dollars, they get too lazy.

We will see.   If Darnold/Rosen are off board and we end up with the next Brandon Weeden it’s gonna stink.

Idk too much about these qbs tbh

People act like it's so hard to find a franchise QB. I bet you if we let an 8 year old pick a QB over the last 17 years we would have a franchise guy by now. I mean not finding a franchise guy for 17 years? Not even by chance? It's hard to believe our FO could be that abysmal. It is really not that hard.

I think it makes perfect sense that TT starts and NP is out.  Doesn't take an insider (although I'll consult my oracle later in the week ;) ).  But the Cousins stuff...

    This. ^

Cutting Tyrod is a parallel move if we plan on dumping him and signing a vet. We're better off keeping him and redshirting a high draft choice rookie. I don't believe for one second that Kirk Cousins is coming here, I would love it but I probably have a better chance at winning the lotto.
