  1. He's only 20 years old and made the physical freaks list but when the scouts said he had a wrestling background was when I thought McD would end up drafting him somewhere in the late rounds.
  2. They already have him penciled in as the starter. Seems like a great situation to come into. Njigba on one side, Kupp in the slot, and Darnold who has a bit of the gunslinger mentality.
  3. Hard to tell from preseason but two guys I was hoping we'd take a late swing on seem to be playing well in Seattle. Tory Horton and Martinez would have both been nice editions here. Cook has been a non issue and our RB room looks good as is but I've always wished we had a 6 foot something 220 pound back who could actually bang but not drafting another RB isn't much of an issue. Horton on the other hand would have been a great addition and seems to check a lot of boxes as far as game speed, size, and actual polish. Also interesting to see Jordan Phillips had a night for the Dolphins. I'm the first to admit I thought we'd go 1 tech and later take a swing on penetrating DT and I thought wrong.
  4. Just because there has been a trend of not paying RB's big money that doesn't mean every back isn't getting paid and it doesn't mean it'll stay that way forever. Beane's deals frequently look really good two years down the road and when some top backs are signing deals for 20 million a year I'm hoping Cook's deal looks like a bargain.
  5. Tried this once before and it gained little traction but I think there are many many similarities between Andrew Luck and Josh Allen. Allen takes a lot of the things Luck used to do and takes it up a notch. Allen has been better in the playoffs. If Luck had played for Andy Reid or had Spags coaching his defense he probably would have made more noise in the playoffs.
  6. With our fragile safeties we'll see a lot of Hamlin and he will continue to be a whipping boy. He'll probably be a solid but not stellar player but much like Rapp (and no one acknowledges it) he's too slow to be a truly dynamic safety. In my head someday Hancock and Bishop will both be starting safeties and Bishop will not make a couple of coverage mistakes every game he starts.
  7. This is going to sound like I'm speaking our of both sides of my mouth but somehow an 11 yard out on 2nd and 7 doesn't bother me as much as a 11 yard gain on 3rd and 9. The second situation being hypothetical. He didn't get run over for 20 yards and he didn't get out run by a guy who ran a 4.75 40 at the combine. I probably just have a soft spot for the guy that's blinding me a little bit but I'm hoping for Levi Wallace with better instincts and a little more fight in him. Nevermind it was 3rd and 7 .................. yeesh. Age is a B word. Just 3 years ago I didn't have glasses and I could remember anything.
  8. To Cam's credit he seemed to play pretty well but Hancock has a little more size and a little more speed so it would be pretty awesome if he took over the free safety spot. I know our safeties are interchangeable at times but Rapp seems like a strong safety and so does Bishop just younger with a big more speed so it would be nice if Bishop could lock down that job at some point and Rapp could back up both positions.
  9. I'm not all the way down on Tre yet. I'm not completely anti bend but don't break but you have to be able to make stops over the course of the game. I think Dane came in for Tre after two drives and the Giants only had 3 points and had punted the last drive. Near as I can tell the chunk plays stated after that. I think at his age and physical abilities Tre has to play a bit of chess. Tre might not have been lock down but I at least had the feeling that if you threw at him enough he'd jump one eventually. He was keeping things in front of him and I trust his thought process enough to feel like he might give up a few but he'd got one at some point. This is all just my opinion but I felt like Tre had it under control and Dane didn't.
  10. 100% this. I honestly believe if we could cover this line will put up some good sack numbers. Am I wrong in thinking our coverage used to be better? I'm not sure if we gambled more and played less soft coverage. I feel like we blitzed a db more often. Maybe our DC's just aren't good at timing or are too predictable. Whatever the case you are absolutely right. They call the right play against our 3rd down defense all the time. We're either too soft and an easy catch and run or some type of screen or a jump ball for a big gain we just couldn't knock to the ground.
  11. I thought the starter plus Solomon were more than adequate. They were after the QB a lot. Our coverage on the other hand left a lot of open guys and easy quick throws so the ball was out. After the starters and the 2nd string it got considerably worse. Jackson had a pretty rough go and without looking at film I'm guessing Carter was invisible.
  12. Warning this turned into a rant. I did feel better after writing this. It might happen again in the future based off our secondary play. Might I add, it kills the pass rush. If you get someone to 3rd and 9 and you know they have to pass your Dline can pin it's ears back and go after the QB. Then you play everyone so soft that the QB has an easy out to the RB who is essentially uncovered or with one guy there at best and he runs easily runs for the first down. I think the RB's had well over 10 catches against us and well over 100 yards receiving not to mention a walk in TD. Also how are we so bad at jump balls. We seemingly give up a hail mary a season. Arizona and the Jets for example. A few years ago vs the Vikings and last year vs the Chiefs (playoffs). For as long as I've somewhat lamented the pass rush the coverage has let us down at key times and more recently all the time. It is probably top of my list as far as things that need to be fixed. Tighten up the coverage. No more easy short throws. Figure out a way to not lose more jump balls than you win. Give the pass rush some coverage so they can get to the QB. When McD came here defense got us to the playoffs and defense was the staple. Am I missing something? Where the hell did that go?
  13. All of that said if that Hawkeye thing had given us a first down on Allen's run vs the Chiefs i would still be singing it's praises.
  14. This is going to sound crazy .............. I'd love to see some defense here.
  15. If 56 is Solomon someone had him around the neck with a handful of jersey.
  16. Secret plan to beat the us ....... just throw to the running back all day long.
  17. He seems like he cares about his players but I would not want to be on Beane's bad side. The guy looks pretty intense all the time.
  18. What is Reich up to now a days? Where's he coaching?
  19. Jackson fits a mold that's for sure. Outside of Solomon we love to draft big stiff DE's who project to have 6 to 8 sacks on a good year.
  20. Solomon collapsed the pocket nicely and Jackson lost contain
  21. I get it that it's 3rd and 9 but you can't give up a 3 or 4 yard catch to someone and then have only 1 guy withing ten yards of that player. It's the coaching on crap like that.
  22. For all the times Couch's name has been called he's doing all right.
  23. IF Davidson could catch half as well as he tackles ....................
