He wasn’t clearly downfield when the ball was thrown. It was a very close call. And since it had absolutely no bearing on the play I’m fine with the no call. Calling that play back because the OL was a foot too far downfield would have been exactly the kind of nonsense I hate from the officials.

If you rewatch the play, the OL is clearly 1 1/2 yd past the LOS (25 yd line ) and the ball is still in Jones hand.

If the refs miss the call, that’s fine.

But I don’t get how it’s called initially correctly, and then reversed, incorrectly.

As was Malik Willis-  drafted in which round?  Thanks.

Yeah, I think this is implied. The more great players you hit on, the better your team.

Ahh, anyone who pays attention to nfl drafts knows that QBs are special cases, often going higher or lower than predicted.

What we do know is that a consensus of 82 draft experts had Elam at 30. So a pick at 23 wasn’t a crazy reach.

But I do think that giving up a 4th to go up to get him was a mistake. Let the draft come to you.

From a reverse angle you can see it was a Bills player that lifted the helmet off the TB player.  The punter raised his hands to the ref signaling he wasn't doing it.  That's why.

It was sort of confusing, and I didn’t watch in super slow mo, but it looked to me that 43 on Bills pulled the dudes helmet off, and then the dude pulled it back from him, and ended up swinging the helmet.

I was just glad it wasn’t penalty Bills.

You’re certainly entitled to feel that way.  He was more bad than good in his last season in college.  Josh Norman is better than him according to our staff.

Some people had first rd grades on:

    Jalin Hyatt- 3rd

    Kelee Ringo- 4th

    Dawand Jones- 4th

Some had Drew Sanders and Trenton Simpson going rd 1, high rd 2. They went rd 3.  It happens every year.  And it’s not as if Elam was a consensus 1st rd talent.  He was not.

Agree to disagree that slipping to rd 3 is farfetched.  I don’t think it’s likely that he fell to rd 3.  I also don’t think it was likely that Elam would’ve been taken in the first round if we didn’t take him.

again- it’s subjective.  How do you feel about a player.  I didn’t think Elam was very good.  We’re about to find out how other teams think of him now.  Trade deadline in a few days.  There should be some teams that loved him as a 1st or 2nd rd prospect willing to give up a pick for him.

Actually, per the Athletic, Elam was a consensus first round pick.
