Great post. You hit the nail on the head with the bolded part. It's more about having that threat available to you within the offense. Allen had a number of outstanding deep throws to well covered receivers last year despite his reputation on here of being a mediocre downfield passer. A recent example would be the long TD throw to Hollins right before halftime of the AFC championship. That pass was utterly perfect by Josh and had to be because there was no separation whatsoever. It is also kind of hilarious that a guy as great as Trent McDuffie would ever end up covering someone of Hollins' skill, but that is what Buffalo chooses to put on the field. It would just be nice if we didn't force our all time great QB to have to play off schedule and thread needles in order for the offense to be productive against good teams. I don't think we are going to be quite as successful on offense this year as it stands either, for a variety of reasons. The turnovers are an obvious candidate for regression, but what about the health of the offensive line? The Bills were extremely fortunate to have such continuity among the starting five last year. If we run into problems on the line and have some protection issues, its going to magnify even further the inability of our receivers to separate quickly against decent defenses, just like in the Baltimore and Houston games. It would be roster malpractice to carry this receiver room into the regular season. For those who say give it time and that there are still 4 months to go, I would remind you that Beane was more than happy to proceed with a similar group last year. At best I can see a reunion with Cooper which really doesn't move the needle. Every other top QB has a guy who can take the top off a defense other than Allen, and the neglect is getting old.

Shenault stinks, and I don't think Ingram is going anywhere. But not a bad effort. Man those receivers...

Especially when the receiver gives it away pre snap by positioning their feet sideways toward the quarterback. It's unbelievably easy to predict even just watching on TV lol. Shakir does it every time, as did Diggs when he was here.

Get ready for a hundred screens to Shakir and Kincaid again

It's not so much about preventing KC. You're right, who they select is beyond his control. It's about his baffling unwillingness to invest in his own quarterback and try to create a big play element to the offense.
-
Yes, but we turned the ball over at a historically low level and struggled to establish a down field passing game. It's not realistic to expect that there won't be some regression to the mean, and we still have the same middling WR group.
-
I only say that just to illustrate how they continually try to add speed and weaponry for their all world QB. Something that is a foreign concept for Buffalo
-
And that is why they're the Chiefs and we're the Bills lol
-
What is the point of this? We don't have anything close

Alright, Gunner's best available list going into Saturday would be great right about now
-
Oh I agree. Not saying he shouldn't have been drafted by now, especially in this particular draft year. But it is VERY telling that the most QB needy teams have passed him over repeatedly
-
The fact that Sanders was initially locked in in as an early 1st round pick was a byproduct of media hype and, more importantly, the extremely unimpressive crop of QB prospects available this draft year
-
At what? Missing 50 games a year and filling up empty calorie stats for a loser franchise?
-
Pretty naive in my opinion. If you were an NFL gm, why on earth would you draft a guy who is a mediocre at best prospect AND whose father is tied to said prospect at the hip? Sanders was never going to be more than Geno Smith anyways, but this is an EPIC downfall
-
It's the NFL equivalent of drafting LaMelo Ball
-
I don't think this can possibly account for his free fall entirely. Yeah, Sanders is a middling QB prospect but plenty of other guys have been drafted in premium spots regardless. This is a unique situation related to his family and football background/experience
-
I wasn't even factoring that into the equation lol. This should be some serious humble pie

Yes

Almost starting to feel sorry for Shedeur at this point. Almost. To me it is obviously self preservation by GM's around the league. The perception has to be that drafting Sanders opens up the possibility of Deion becoming in charge of your franchise.

Bills 2nd Rnd pick in 2025 Draft : TJ Sanders - DT South Carolina
buffblue replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
True, but the same thing was said for Carter last year. He may be the forgotten man here bc in the first 5 games prior to injury he looked like he could be a player. Upon return...not so much -
I think it will be sooner than that. Bills should have it still comfortably this year but next season could be a real competition. Good news is that both Miami and the Jets look like a complete non threat in the near term.

They had passed Miami before the draft
