Yea I can't wait to run into you at the nice bar area enjoying craft brews enjoying amazing food offerings  *barf*

Whats wrong with craft brews and wanting to eat something better then sauages or hotdogs. Oh I know its too sophisticated for you. You just want your Genny light and a bench to watch the game.

Nothing is bad about having your own tastes. I’d be happy watching football with a Labatt Blue and hot dog in the bleachers. That doesn’t mean I’m right and you’re wrong. Everyone has different tastes, and there is nothing wrong with that. Some fans are simply worried that affordability goes out the window in a new stadium featuring luxurious amenities. There is nothing wrong with craft beer and decent food, but it’s likely they’d be accompanied by PSL’s and the like. As far as staying home for a better view on TV,  I’d apply that rule to every stadium in the league.  I agree that attending the game is more about the experience, but not everyone agrees on what constitutes a good experience. After all, that’s why this is such a frequent topic on TBD.

It seems like a lot of the people on this board are older fans that are not into the way the new football and baseball stadiums are built aside from the PSL's.

I think a lot of the negative reaction is a result of Buffalo’s traditional blue collar mentality. Upper middle class culture as a whole has become quite homogenous in this country (meaning it’s easy to figure out what the groups tastes are), and this is the group the NFL wants to target.  The league specifically targets this class with non-football luxuries that have nothing to do with the game. These are the people who the league can fleece for seat licenses. Many working class folks are simply concerned that they won’t have a seat at the table anymore. I can’t speak for everyone, but I think that’s one of the main concerns.

What is so bad about wanting better beer than GENNY LIGHT or your typical sausage or hot dog. What is so bad about wanting a bar area where you can see the game inside the stadium?

For me its all about the experience and amenities at the stadium. If I am going to a bare bones stadium like New Era Field I might as well stay and get a better view from my tv.

We don't need a new stadium at all. There's nothing wrong with the current venue. NFL owners spew this nonsense to get the govt to cough up money and people believe it. I have never in my life taken 'stadium cost' into consideration when deciding whether or not to attend a game. I'd rather they spent the money educating our children and paying teachers a decent wage.

I disagree. If you like bare bones then its a fine stadium. I was just at Progressive field in Cleveland and the amenities there were some of the best. Between the amazing food offerings and the craft brews makes it a great place to see a game. There is even a nice bar area that you can sit at and watch the game from. That is the kind of things that is missing at New Era Field.

I guess people in Buffalo don't like change or state of the art amenities.

Have you ever Been to Florida? Theme parks get old, just like the beach and you can't ride snowmobiles on sand. Flat as a pancake and boring as !@#$. Thank God football season is right around the bend.

Theme parks never get old. The rush you get riding a roller coaster is one of the best things. The only good thing good about winter and fall is hockey.

  6. Since I live in Canada its hard for me to move to a warmer climate. Believe me if I could I would move to Florida in an instant. I hate cold and snow. I am so amazed at how many people seem to hate the heat but love the cold.

Besides there is lot more things to do in the warmer weather then in the depths of winter. You can't go to parks like Cedar Point in the winter.

I share my season ticket account between 4 people. The NFL has made that difficult. It sounds like you are questioning my fandom. As a season ticket ticket holder for 14 years you have no business questioning me or anyone else.

I wasn't questioning your fandom at all. In general I know why they are doing this. Its not cause of guys like you. I know Sabres season ticket holders that sell more then half their games to make money.

You can blame it on fans like that on why they changed the way tickets are available.

I was waiting for some corporate shill to show up. So because the consumer doesn't like jumping through myriad technohoops that add zero value to their experience they are stupid. You sound like the Big Pharma guy that wants to price the sick out of house and home so your CEO can have a Lear Jet

I'm not a corporate shill. I just think the new way is better. Its only an issue if you want to sell your tickets. It used to be that you bought season tickets cause you are a fan of the team. Now a lot of season ticket holders seem to go maybe half the games in a season and try to make a profit off the rest of the games. This is the NFL's way of controlling that.

  9. Dave Matthews once again put on a fantastic show. No opening act and played for 2.5 hours. After seeing him its hard to justify paying to see anyone else. Most acts play for 90 minutes tops.

I will say what does amaze me is how so few seem to like his music but yet he sells out constantly.

  10. Reading this thread and how short a lot of these acts play for makes me realize how worth it is to see Dave Matthews. No opening act and he usually plays for 2 to 2.5 hours. I have seem him 2 years ago and looking forward to seeing him next week.

  11. I watch the Super Bowl every year unless I am working. I am going to on vacation in Orlando but I am still going to watch it. I am not a Pats fan but I am cheering for them to win it again. I like watching teams dominate their sport. I honestly thing parity is the worst thing that can happen to sports. Part of the reason ratings are down this year is that of the final 4 teams only one had a great QB. Most casual fans want to see the best teams go at it.

I just want to add, I have never seen a fan base so bitter then the Bills one. They finally make the playoffs after 17  years and a lot of you are still mad at the world. No wonder a lot of you drink so much during tailgating.

  12. Penalties aside, Tennessee had a chance early in the game. The Patriots kept throwing short passes to the left side of the field and drove down the field. The Titans did nothing to stop it. Lets put the blame on the refs on why the Patriots win all the time

    Pro sports(especially NFL) is fixed/scripted.

The 28-3 super bowl last year was totally scripted.

If you believe that then whats the point in watching the Bills? If its fixed then small market teams will never win a super bowl.

  14. Its not just offensive scheme, TT is not a great QB. He finally has a decent set of WRs to pass too and he is afraid to throw to anyone unless they are wide open. Sometimes you have to throw to a guy in coverage and let the WR make a play on it. Benjamin is one of the better WR making receptions in coverage and he was only targeted 3 times.

The worst play was when it was 14-3 and TT had a chance to throw it to Benjamin for a first down, he checked down and threw to McCoy for a 1 yard gain instead. That is not scheme, its bad QB play.

Agree pretty much with all of you derelicts.  Aside from my beloved Buffalo Bills, none of the games interest me at all, or just barely anymore.  Another thing that just bugs the hell out of me...pre-game shows.  I used to love the pre-games, getting me pumped for an afternoon of good entertainment.  They've gotten so over-the-top stupid (IMHO) its 100% un watchable.  Thanks to the WCMF pre-game radio I've managed to not take the cliff...yet !  Lol !

    GO BILLS !

Games being unwatchable or not interesting is all do to Parity. IMO PARITY is ruining sports. Instead of making most teams better its done the opposite. Its brought the best teams down to a mediocre level with everyone else. If more teams played offense like the Rams and Eagles do I think the league would be much better. I am sorry to say but I think most fans want to see QB's throw for close to 300 yds a game. Instead we get a lot of boring football with little offense.

They limit the games so much on what teams are on local TV that nobody wants to watch what is being broadcasted after your favorite team is done. Why waste time watching a Colts Brown game.

I miss the old days when multiple games were on and you could chose what game to watch next. NFL money grabbing for control to get extra money for other games makes many fans not bother so of course the ratings and interest will go down.

Even radio brodcast is limited so they can charge extra for that, NFL is fun but all the extra money they are trying to push fans to spend will in the end make the ratings go down more and more. Back in the day I used  to watch and listen to a ton of NFL football now that time is used on other things.

I think if you buy season tickets you should automaticaly be given NFL sunday ticket to all broadcasts radio/TV. That alone will increase ratings IMO.

IMO the reason its like that now is cause of the lack of blackouts now. Its NFL's way of getting some of that money back they lost in forcing fans to go to the game if they want to see their team play if the game wasn't sold out. I am sorry but you can't have it both ways. Fans bitched about the blackout policy so it was gotten rid of but now you have to pay for some out of town games. I would prefer blackouts if it meant being able to see better out of town games.
