  1. It's hard to blame him. Here's a guy who has an exceptional 30-17 record as a starter. He brought his team back from an 0-6 start to a 8-2 finish. He led the team to the playoffs. He won offensive rookie fo the year. He has won big games and performed well in them. And his head coach is starting Kerry Collins, an awful, past-his-prime QB in his place. Bottom line is that VY was never Fisher's guy. Distract the team from what??? Losing? If he distracts the team from that, I'm fine with it.
  2. My point exactly. Using these articles as a basis for judgement is ludicrous. I think the Bills owe it to themselves to investigate.
  3. You apparently didn't read the board when Vick was available.
  4. And to assume that VY cannot and won't do the same is equally ludicrous. He's half the QB Vick was? Based on what? This guy has really only had one full season as a starter, where he led his team to the playoffs and won Rookie of the Year. If Chan feels he has potential, I think it's a worthy gamble.
  5. This is exactly what posters were saying about Vick when he came out of jail. As it turns out, he'll finish 2nd in the race for the NFL's Most Valuable Player award. I'm not saying the Bills should absolutely go after the guy, but let's not just dismiss him right off the bat. If Gailey feels like he has the ability and if the financial risk isn't too great, his athletic ability and his performance in big games may warrant taking a calculated risk. To simply dismiss him based on some garbage news articles is a bit of a farce. He never had Fishers backing from the moment he joined the team because this was a pick that the owner mandated, period.
  6. Because Jeff Fisher never wanted him to begin with! This was the owner's pick.
  7. Did you watch Young undress the Bills as a rookie in Buffalo, eliminating them from playoff contention? Watch what you wish for, my friend. Despite his mental hangups, VY knows how to win and he has the record to show it.
  8. It's ridiculous sometimes to see the moral soapboxes these posters stand on... as if to say that everyone on the Bills right now is a choirboy. If his character checks out (and that's a big if) and if background checks don't reveal anything significant (that's also a big if) this team would be stupid to pass on Can Newton. If we can spend the #8 pick on Donte Whitner, we can certainly spend the #3 pick on Newton. At least Newton has NFL playmaking ability.
  9. But ANYONE with half a brain knows the range in which he's looking for based on his current compensation and CBS' published reports.
  10. Yes, people on this board actually believe he's worth that price.
  11. People avoided Moss because of a far worse past. He has been one of the best WRs in history. People avoided Blount because of a checkered past. He's been nothing but a monster on the field. You have to put things in context. Do I care about a stolen laptop or the fact that his father was trying to make a dime off him? Nope, not one bit.
  12. Completely agree. The only similarity he has to Jason Campbell is that he's African American. If Chan feels Newton can play in this league, I'd be all fo them making the selection.
  13. ... and according to him, "He wants to stay in Buffalo." http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2011/01/03/whitners-exit/
  14. Most definitely. I brought this up once and Whitner apologists scoffed at the notion. I wish it were made up but it's true.
  15. Whitner has dropped 4 sure INTs this year, one of which would have sealed the game against the Ravens in Baltimore. Nobody expects him to be a turnover machine, but to have zero impact on a game presents the other end of the spectrum that does not warrant a lucrative contract extension. $3M? OK. $4M? Maybe. $5M per season??? You'd have to be insane. And Donte and his agent know that the Bills are one of the few teams that are that gullible, hence the public airing of the contract talks.
  16. Have you sat with him in the film room? How the F do know about his ability to read a Pro D???
  17. SO true. A large faction of Bills fans do not want to see an African American quarterback their team, period.
  18. Those that disagree need not change their minds. They may have to find a new use for their Whitner jerseys though At least he admits he sucked it up this year (Twitter): DonteWhitner TWHITNER This year I literally droped 4 ints...wont happen next year! GB-drop...DET..2 drops...Bal...1 drop..
  19. These stats support pretty much everything that has been said about Donte Whitner – he's great at the trivial tasks associated with safety play, but abysmal at the more difficult plays that are there to be made. This can be explained by his lack of instincts and lack of range. Donte's play doesn't justify a lucrative extension. End of story.
  20. When all else fails, make the personal attack. That's been your MO for quite some time, almost as if to mask the fact that you've been pretty much dead wrong in your assessments of the team over the past many years. Like it or not, while you were praising the Dockery and Walker signings, posters like Vet knew they were ill-advised acquisitions. While you were so psyched about the Whitner pick you went out and bought his jersey, others knew that the Bills had squandered yet another golden opportunity to improve the team. You say Donte is a good safety who should be retained. At what price would you say that it's best to let Donte walk? Or do you suggest giving him whatever he wants?
