Dont be suprised if they also keep tt and still draft a qb rd1 too

In fact thts what i think they will do

I think it also depends who it is. If they trade up and get a guy they think can benefit from getting off to a fast start or they unexpectedly land a great QB by other means, I could see him being dealt on draft weekend or whenever. This will be our busiest offseason in at least a generation. I'm excited.

  2. If we don't go to the playoffs, he's gone. If the Ravens win out, we're done for and their last 2 games should be VERY winnable. Colts next and the nosediving Bengals at home. The Bills will be challenged just to win in Miami, IMO. I think our odds of winning at Foxboro are 1:20 at best. The good news is that this roster will receive a major upgrade after the regular season if Mr. Beane is any better than his last 2 predecessors. I really, really hope he's our next top tier GM. It's been far too long.

I expect a first round pick to be more than just average.

And I haven't seen anything from Zay Jones. His catch rate is the worst from an NFL receiver in over 10 years. He's not explosive, doesn't generate much separation and offers nothing on special teams. I don't see a bright future for him at all.

Well, let's both you're wrong about Jones, but he has certainly not been as impressive as White or Dawkins. I'm still giving him a chance to make it as a solid posession receiver.

Lawson was another wasted 1st round pick from the Whaley era.

When you go back and look at the guys we drafted during the Whaley/Nix years, it's nothing short of a complete disaster.

This team has zero players to build around. It's shocking how bare the cupboard is.

I dunno. I think we're pretty average overall. I also think White, Jones and Dawkins have bright futures. We also have a lot of picks and will save some of that huge contract money from Dareus. The real #1 question for Bills fans now is "How well can Beane draft?" If he nails those picks on day 1 and 2 of the draft ands gets a QB, whole new ballgame.

  5. QB is by far the most important position on the team and OL talent is sparce. I say QB first, definitely. Just don't trade off Taylor for Cousins because that would be pointless. If you can't sign or draft someone that is or you believe strongly will soon be a top tier QB, you might as well keep Taylor or go with Peterman if you think he can be a stop gap or better. Cousins is better, but not all that much. We need to shoot for the stars. After all, there are 31 other teams after that Lombardi trophy. If you want to get to the top, you can't be aimed at the middle. I know you can't have probowlers at every position, but having one of the best at QB is a huge competitive advantage.

  6. Without a franchise QB it makes little difference where or who we draft, IMO. If lightning strikes and Luck ends up with us, fine.

One other thing -- At what point does the talent drop off or is the talent across the top rounds relatively steady? For example, if you believe there are 8 players in this draft that stand fairly well over the rest, you probably don't want to trade out of the top 8.

  7. Shaq doesn't look at all like a 1st round pick at this point. Some points to consider.

    1. He is still less than 25 games into his NFL career.

    2. What could we get for him? Would it be worth it?

    3. Is he worth the money we're paying him now (disregarding present injury) or should we just move him and free up cap space that might be better spent?

  8. You have to pressure Brady, but we are 31st in the NFL in sacks. I guess we can try dropping 8 into coverage, but give Brady time and it won't go well. Maybe a lot of different blitzes?

The Bills can't pressure anyone with this front four.

    Bench Preston Brown

    Blitz up the middle relentlessly

Bills have the corners and safeties to maintain coverage long enough for the rush to get there.

Brady will pick apart McD zone defense. The Pats offense is based on Brady hitting guys in stride.  Brady destroys zone coverage because he finds guys that are moving while the defenders are reacting.

Agreed on Brown. I'm looking forward to a restocked LB corps in 2018. The entire front 7, except Hughes is in need of upgrades. Kyle and Lo will probably retire after this season. Well, Kyle will and Lorenzo should.

Other positive is that Cadet looks like the backup RB we have been messing.

Maybe so. I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Shady and signed or drafted a much younger replacement for next year either.

I think what you're not understanding is how sad it is that that's all we really have going for us.

We have a lot of good young talent in the secondary and a fair WR corps. We still have great picks coming up in the draft and we've freed up cap space by moving underachievers.

Peterman will be back when we are officially out.  Probably after the Patriots game.  Tyrod isn't a bad choice for the next two games.

Exactly. With our run defense looking like it did when Reggie Torbor was our best LB and guys like Torell Troupe and Michael Jasper our saviors, we aren't going anywhere. All in for 2018!

Well I'm desperate for a silver lining right about now, and I think you're right.   However, the cloud's a whole lot darker than that, my friend.

Whenever you feel that way, just remember that we gave away a lot of underproducing talent and have yet to cash in on the extra cap space and draft picks. You gotta factor that into the equation.

  12. ...In a dark cloud. The Bills have been awful lately, but unnoticed during this swan dive is the fact that both of our 2nd round picks are starting to step up their play -- especially Dawkins. He has been particularly strong these past 2 Sundays according to PFF which put him in the top 3 performers at LT while Mills was getting eaten alive. Say hello to your new LT. If Glenn's foot gets back to normal and he's moved to RT, we'll have solid bookends for years to come.

Zay Jones' rise hasn't been as dramatic because of the hyperextended knee, but he looks like he's 'attacking' the ball rather than waiting for it to arrive and give defenders a chance to get a hand in the way.

Throw in the fact that White has been playing as well as any rookie and perhaps we've got a good start on an improved roster for 2018.

  13. I think the coaches are doing their best to win, but they realized that sacrifices had to be made for the future. Fans have been calling for a complete clean-out from the backups to the HC and entire personnel staff. Now that someone is giving them what they want, they want him fired too.

THE BILLS SITUATION IS NOT HORRIBLE!

Extremely rich owners committed to keeping the team here

    5-5 record

2 1st round picks next season

2 2nd round picks next season

plenty of cap room and an owner who likes to spend

    Benjamin under contract for 2018.

And even after gutting the team a bit, a decent mathematical chance to sneak into the playoffs THIS YEAR.

THAT is horrible? THAT is depressing? LOL

Exactly. You have to look at the bigger picture. They knew they'd tank when they let Dareus go, though maybe not so much. Tyrod is soon to follow and perhaps Shady too. Shaq as well if he doesn't start playing better.

  15. Only Bills fans LOL. I guess firing everyone half way through their first season isn't good enough. Let's sell the owners too!

Why don't people see it? It's all about 2018.

The Pegulas will be fine as long as they're willing to spend. They just need to find the right GM and HC to spend it on.

  16. I think we've seen all the proof we'll ever need thar Dareus is a huge factor in the run game when used to plug the middle as opposed to playing more of a penetration style where your stats look better, but you overrun some running plays. The real question is will he be motivated now and give the Jags thr better end of that deal in the long run.

This was my take.  They are looking at 2018 and they know they don't want TT next year.  Why not see of Peterman is a possibility?

Regardless what they say, MCBean has been about 2018 since preseason.  Now at least they know they need to draft a QB in first or second round.  Peterman is definitely NOT the guy.

I wouldn't give up on Peterman QUITE so fast LOL !
