I'm going to predict the Bills will move on from Shady next year. In fact I'll go as far to predict a RB pick in the Top 2 rounds. I think he's finally showing his age. He's not shot. He just isn't cut on dime anymore.

Coming into the season I figured the plan was to run Shady until his wheels fell off, then replace him next season.

Here is how I would figure he will be handled in the off-season. I believe they will approach him about either a restructure or pay cut with the idea that he will not be the lone back next year. I think if he is unwilling to deal, they will cut/trade him and swing with a rookie and possibly Cadet. I believe if something can be worked out McCoy will be back with a rookie backing him up/splitting carries.

  2. Remember the days when teams would be in a rut, play Buffalo and turn it around? Bills teams of the past were the ultimate "slump breakers". They were teams that you could count on to just beat up. Especially on your own field.

These aren't those guys. Still not a championship caliber teams...but slowly the Buffalo Bills are a team to take seriously. We beat an extremely average KC team. But there was a day when that average KC team would have rolled over us and won by 30.

Mike Gillislee has been a healthy scratch for the Patriots two weeks in a row. I guess the Patriots over paid for his services?

    Contract he signed with Pats....

Gillislee's deal is for two years and is worth $6.4 million.

In 2017, his cap number will be $3,968,750 with a base salary of $1.5 million which is fully guaranteed. He has a roster bonus of $2 million and can make up to $500,000 in per-game bonuses if he makes the 46-man rosters.

In 2018, his cap hit comes down nearly half of what he was making in his first year of the deal making $2.4 million. Unlike 2017 his base salary of $1.9 million is non-guaranteed. His up to $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses remains the same in both years.

And watch him light it up it the post season.

I don't see how starting a guy who is not ready to start in the NFL, and may not even be a capable backup is a "big picture" move. Peterman should ride the bench until we're mathematically eliminated, and see if he can secure a backup spot next TC. After that horrendous 1st half of football, signing Kaepernick to backup Taylor for the rest of the year would make the Bills a better football team.

If you are making the point that Kaep has more talent and would upgrade the back up position I agree. Whether it makes us a better team is unknown. By that standard we could sign Manziel, Tebow or the broke down skeleton of RGIII and upgrade the backup position on skill alone.

Bringing in really any of those guys however is a huge distraction and it's just not worth it for a 2nd team guy.

However I'd like to hear why we haven't brought in guys like McGloin or Nassib for a looks see. They aren't the answer either but one thing is certain...neither is as bad as Peterman.

Yeah, I mean he was just fired so he's probably great.

Even less to work with at the QB position than we have with Tyrod. Offensive line banged up all year.

He's a good offensive mind, but like any coordinator needs some talent to work with. Honestly I would bring him in right now as an "Offensive Consultant". Get him under contract. Let Dennison go after the season and promote McCoy.

  6. "Well as far as changes. We have to coach better. And that's starts with me. You all know me. I'm very methodical with my approach so I'll review everything. But it starts with me. Thought we did some nice things. But we still have a lot of work to do. Hey, this is all part of the process. Something about winning today and tomorrow. We'll get this right and go get ready for the Chiefs."

I wanted Ragland at our first round spot when we drafted him. We also were a 3-4 defense at that juncture.

He did not fit this scheme.

Really tired of "he did not fit the scheme" as a defense. Guys like him you tweak the scheme and keep. Dennison gets thrown under the bus for this (and rightfully so) on a weekly basis...why do Frazier and McD get a pass on it?

Don't care about the scheme...a stout run stopping LB is always a value.

The guy who was playing well, who is helping turn around one of the league's worst Run D's had less to do with our collapse than a guy who never played a snap in the regular season for the Bills and is barely playing in KC.

    um.

    Um

Ever watched Ragland play? Yea, you are correct a 2 down run thumping linebacker isn't what this team needs. Humber and Alexander are so great at sniffing out the run.

MD was helping. I wouldn't say he was playing well especially by his standard. And no, it's not just sacks and tackles...I fully understand the concept of his position.

  9. Pros to Luck:

    -Smart player

-If healthy (big if) can be a winner

    -He's very polite

    -He's not named Tyrod Taylor

-Can read a defense and play at a high level

    -Has playoff experience

    Cons to Luck

-This shoulder issue may never fully heal. Word I have seen is he's in Europe getting some weird treatment. Doesn't sound like the typical route an NFL player takes to recovery

-Poor lines in Indy mean he has been hit more than a woman dating Chris Brown (the R&B singer...Not the Bills reporter)

-He's already 28 with high mileage on his body

-Would take a ton of draft capital to get him

-On top of the picks would be an enormous salary

My opinion: Use all those picks that we would have to give up and build a team. Look, we let Gilmore go and used that money to sign Poyer and Hyde plus have some leftover. That's how to build a team. The money saved from not having Luck could get us a rookie QB, a new RG and perhaps a new LBer. It's a no brainer for me. Give me a revamped team over a guy who "kinda sorta could heal and be ok" or kinda sorta could be done and could be the next RGIII

Who wants to pay me not to get another puppy and name him Peterman!

Should have named the dog in 2011 Brady.

Who knows If the Bills would have traded Sammy in return for a late 2nd round pick. They probably thought it would be between 35-40

Lots of unknowns...such as would they have traded him if Boldin hadn't signed here for a week?

My hunch is yes to both. They wanted to get rid of an oft injured prima Donna who worried more about targets and catches than wins.
