Are you sure? I'm guessing if he was offered $10M to be a starter he would not have signed here. Not sure any of those guys would have been offered more. Cap is tight for most teams and good WRs are out there still unsigned. The security of a good contract and staying here certainly helped

    I mean I can't be positive 😁

I just think if Dalton, Fitz and Tyrod got paid what they did then Trubisky could have gotten something more than 2.5 million from someone.

  2. Beane is justifiably getting loads of credit but I think we also need to McD and the rest of the coaching staff some credit as well.

The Trubisky signing isn't something that pushes us over the top and I know that none of us ever want to see him taking any meaningful snaps, but I don't think there is any question that he could have been paid a LOT more somewhere else.

McD and the staff have clearly built something pretty special & the word is out.  Trubisky went from a team that never really had his back & didn't give him any support to a a team that players absolutely love playing for.

Almost every player that we re-signed could have taken more money elsewhere if they waited it out a bit - Dion, Tre, Milano, D Williams, Feliciano & Levi.  Heck, Levi pretty much said that he didn't want to play anywhere else.  Obviously winning helps that but this team just seems to love being together and that can't be overstated.

  3. I'll wait to hear the dollar amount before I come to a solid conclusion but as long at it isn't too big I really like the move.  Obviously you never want t see him take the field except in a blowout but if Josh misses any time we would be dead with Barkley as the starter.  Trubisky will always be criticized a lot because the Bears took him over Watson & Mahomes but he's been a solid player.  Worthy of the #2 pick?  No, but I also think the offensive coaching staff of the Bears and front office haven't done the team any favors in a while.

Having said that, I will really miss Barkley and the energy that he brought to the team.  Not a lot of fan bases can claim to have a great memory of their backup QB but I'll always remember his coat twirling (along with Jerry, Ed, Shaq & Jordan) on the sidelines during the Steelers game last year.  Glad he got in the week 17 game & was able to drop a freaking dime to Gabe.

The more I think about it, the more I want the Bills to sign Kenny Golladay in FA. It’s a win-win situation for the Bills. It gives them another veteran presence for Josh Allen opposite Diggs. A “throw it up” option for Josh. Golladay is capable of being a “#1 option” if Diggs were injured. Another red zone threat. More of a physical/fight for the football presence than Smoke gave. Just thinking the Bills offense would be more explosive with him on team

This would make the passing game devastating but I don't see how it could be remotely possible.  Projections have him getting big time money and Agholor just got 13 million per year.

  5. I'm starting to get the same sort of crush on Toney that I had on DK Metcalf a couple of years ago.  If we don't get him, someone that I would love in the second round is Rondale Moore.  He has some injury concerns but a very similar player that could be a nice fit.

  6. I think everyone that is placing 100% of the blame on any one thing needs to calm down just a little bit.  Were we amazing at running the ball last year?  Of course not but were we dreadful?  No.  We were average and I think that's a combo of scheme, blocking, actual commitment to the run at times and yes, to the talent in the backfield.

If we drafted Etienne I would be fine with that & he is just about the only "home run" threat in the draft at RB but I also think that home run threat is vastly overrated.  Who are some of what we'd consider home run threats?  Dalvin Cook...Nick Chubb...Derrick Henry?  They all have 40 times pretty much the same as both Moss and even Antonio Williams (one of the boards favorite future hall of famers).

Our RB group is pretty forgetable to be honest.  Neither Moss or Singletary have much burst.  Ronald Jones has more burst, and Fournette is a pounder.  Tampa has a great front 4 pass rush.  They made Mahomes run for his life all nite.  In fact Tampa's defense is better then ours all around.  They played an amazing game last nite front to back.  They pretty much blanketed the KC receivers at all the crucial moments in the game.  Lavonte David and Devin White are much better then Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds.  No contest there.  But the pass rush against Mahomes was fierce.

Bills would have played the Bucs much tougher then the Chiefs did.  But I think the league saw the blue print for beating the Chiefs.  Knock the snot out of Mahomes.  God I loved that.  Can't stand the hype he gets.  Allen is the guy.

You have to give a lot more credit to Tampa's O-line.  Motor and Moss would have looked pretty good behind that line and just look at much more time Brady had than Josh had a couple of weeks ago.

I won't if Nick will get on Patrick for playing like Josh at all last night. As Mahomes had a few hero ball moments.

I'm sure when he does it it's because he's amazing though.  Nick will have no problem having a double standard when it comes to those two.

  9. I don't hate it depending on the cost.

Speaking of cost, this is going to be a really interesting FA year, and it might end up being pretty boring for a while.  I think with the lowered salary cap a lot of players are going to go with one year prove it deals in the hope that the 2022 salary cap goes way up.  This could bode well for the Bills at least to go all in for 2021.

the Offside that basically took a FG off the board and made it 14-3 instead of 10-3.

Just a total killer. KC could have easily gone into the half down 10-6, if not for mental errors.

This was the moment for me as well but I will include some of the prior plays as well.

    1.  KC stuffs Jones at the goal line...turnover on downs.  I FULLY expected this to be the moment that Mahomes turned it on and marched down the field.

    2.  Kelce drops a pass that hits hit right in the hands on 3rd down.

    3.  An absolute bomb of a punt is called back because of an egregious hold.  The subsequent punt goes 29 yards and the Bucs start inside the 40.

    4.  VERY suspect defensive holding call negates an INT.

    5.  A defender does his Dee Ford impression and lines up Offside on a field goal giving them a first down...TD pass to Gronk on the next play.

The peace I tried to make with "rooting" for Brady was that what difference does a 7th SB win make when he already has 6.  Plus, I will always hate the Pats and their fans...Brady being on a team that really has zero history with the Bills made it a little easier to stomach.

I think the Chiefs and their fans needed to be taken down a peg.  Maybe the dynasty and hall of fame talk from them will die down for a few months.

This is often referred to as the Nick Wright effect.

  12. I think it really shows the difference between having a defensive line with good players vs. a line with great players.

The Bills have a lot of good players but none that are great...Tampa has some players that have been great for a couple of seasons.  JPP looks like he did early with the Giants, Barrett is a beast, Suh may have lost a step (go ahead...you tell him that) but can still be a monster and Vea might be one of the strongest players in the league.  Put them on the field at the same time and it is trouble no matter who they face.

That leads me to another thought about having a bunch of good guys on the line.  I don't know what the snap count for this game was but it seemed like when the pocket collapsed (and it did often), all of those guys that I mentioned were on the field at the same time.

Clearly McDermott values depth and likes to rotate guys but is it better to have a fresh but average group or a less than fresh great group?

That oversimplifies it and I know it isn't easy to just go out and find a great pass rusher but I really think it stinks that we haven't been able to pair another great end with Jerry for a few years.  He hasn't had the big sack numbers but he is always near the top of the league at pass rush efficiency.  If another comparable player could be on the field with him (even now...he still had a pretty good year) I think the defense looks a lot different.

Honestly, there was talk on another thread about how because of Allen, we need to keep investing in better & better weapons - that our receivers weren't quite as good as the Chiefs, and that needed to be the focus.

Trenches, trenches, trenches. I don't care if they don't make another move at receiver for the next 2 years.

100% right, and not just to protect Allen but to improve the running game.  Tonight's game proved how important it is to build around your o-line and d-line (once you have a QB).

Best commercials were the Bud Light/Budweiser reunion & the Jeep meeting in the middle commercial.

The worst commercials were Oatley, Paramount Streaming, Watermelon Mountain Dew and that weird commercial with the 4 midget cowgirls buying boots.

Something that was funny to me, was that right after the melon flavored Mountain Dew commercial there was one for diabetes testing.

For me, the It Wasn't Me commercial was the best but the Alexa one was pretty great too.

I agree with this to a point.  The problem I see with our RB's' particularly Singleterry is the lack of production in the passing game.  Tow recent examples:

    1)  Against the Ravens the Bills had the perfect screen set up.  Singleterry catches the ball and slips.  That should have been a 20 yard gain.

    2)  Against KC Singleterry drops a potential 20 yard or more gain on a simple swing pass.

That's a lot of yards lost on two simple plays.  With our downfield WR threat and Allen's threat to run our RB's should be putting up big time receiving numbers but they don't.  And that's a big problem but also a big opportunity for the Bills to cheaply add firepower to this offense.

That's a great point and I think is the better argument for replacing Singletary, not his running ability.

A lot of people here talk about the value of a running back's home run ability but I think versatility is far more important.  Kamara is Kamara because you can put him anywhere on the field and he's a mismatch...same goes for Barkley, Hunt, Aaron Jones, McCaffrey, etc.
