  1. In watching this summer run, it feels like I've seen S2 about five times over.
  2. I read about the first two sentences of looong posts. Depending on the topic, depending on the poster, depending on the quality of writing/argument.... depending on the blurriness of my eyes.... I read on. If you're referencing BarryBrady/FakeFatSunny/PyriteGal, my rule of thumb is to just skip it and then if anyone quotes part of it I'll read that. All of the fuggin typos (often not small things, e.g. 'erl' when the word should be 'real' You spend 5 seconds/per trying to fill in the correct word) and his finding 50 ways to say the Same. Damn. Thing. hurt my brain. If he had any ability to edit, I'd have no problem, but as he has said, he's not interested in that.
  3. Rooney is the kind of person that, you just look at his face and you know he's a Richard. May be a good player but his impatience and temper cost the team lots; they deflated after it. And then, it wouldn't be England if it didn't end badly. That is your guys' worldview, isn't it? My team of heritage left is..... France. The other half is Netherlands, who I was rooting for most before Thurs. Condolences lie that this is not a French team of the prissy-"ve 'ate Ameeerica" class. They are from the tough streets.
  4. Palestinians cry, "WAAAAAAHHH!!!!!" Uhmmm.... I can only say that maybe they shouldn't have f--ked with the bull. There is ZERO forethought going on with these people. 1) Elect a govt whose past stated goal is the extermination of the Jewish state. 2) Kidnap an Israeli soldier and refuse to return him or do an exchange. 3) Act surprised and 'pschologically hurt' when you get bombed. "Finally figuring out"? I come from a military family, JSP. The blue star is in the window right now. My qualms have always been that we need to do things 'right'.... But as time goes on, it becomes more apparent that the only thing the Islamofascists understand is force and the realization that it's in their best interest to stop !@#$ with us. (And with that said, I think it's also become more apparent that we've done just about all we can in Iraq. Our presence there is causing more problems than solutions --- in terms of the fighting itself, our ability to exert force elsewhere in the next 5-10 years *ahem* Iran, NK *ahem*, and the toll it's taken on the Guard and military families.)
  5. It didn't under Gengis Khan, it didn't under Eric the Red, and it won't under #44. The faces change, the places change, but large-scale govt budgets don't go downward.
  6. Just to clarify, as odd as it may sound, Tedi was also the blitzing LB on that play.
  7. I have to watch suffer through all of the Patriots preseason games as the only football on up here, and last preseason Cassel was pretty good. 'Course we all know preseason doesn't mean richard, but with Brady sitting he played some vs. 1st string, some vs. 2nd, most against 3rd and looked consistent; had the poise of a vet and showed some good sense in the pocket, especially for a rookie. A little raw in some areas but he had all season in practice and could become a good backup.
  8. And the worst ones listen to that Thomas Dolby song ALL! DAY! LONG!
  9. I was planning on getting a new one. Not now. WTF is it with teams that have to have some new design created by a namby-pamby who doesn't even know what things like tradition are? Their minds are so focused on accruing another logo to add to their portfolio that they disregard making simple changes that will work for what the team's fans want. A nice backhand to that was the Bills' throwbacks this past season. Maybe all the accolades those received are not anything like what the Sabres want. 'They need to be different, by gum! People want different!' Marketing knows absolutely nothing about the people of Buffalo in this regard. Yet another step fans have to endure until management realizes that older is better.
  10. Anyone see on the news last night that a convoy vehicle flipped over up near Ft. Dum (as my brother called it in a 2-year stint)? I was just joking about that stuff, BTW. Find a legal way to do it. DON'T get arrested for something deadhead like that. The temp transport tags sound logical, but then again it is govt.
  11. Nevermind the question of whether they could.... Ask yourself why they would when that'd just mean a couple of hours more of KP, etc. Plus, fuel economy considerations. The speed for getting optimum mpg is 55.
  12. Legally.... Know anyone with dealer plates? Pretty much, you stick one on a car and drive away. Any way to, what's the word, pre-register it in GA w/o it being in your possession? Need to have the title for that tho. Failing the legal ways, you can bite the bullet and go w/ Jack's suggestion, get short haircuts and if you see any cops, coolly wave at them like it's nothing out of the ordinary; they're paramilitary themselves. But don't put false tags on it; that's 100x worse than not having anything.
  13. Maybe someone should send a memo to 'AQ in Iraq.' Do they have email?
  14. Yup. According to the omniscient oracle that is ESPN, the Bills should just go ahead and forfeit their season. "Don't bother playing the games," ESPN sez. "They have geezers in the front office!"
  15. Israel to invade Gaza Strip So, a year after turning over control to the Palestineans, Israel's going in again. This after they've been shelled from there and a soldier was kidnapped. Can't say I didn't see this coming. Dealing with those !@#$ people is like trusting a snake not to bite. Give them territory and they'll use it as a base to launch their attacks from. Hopefully Olmert doesn't take any sh-- or buy into "The Pathway" BS. Appeasement doesn't work.
  16. Like that Outback commercial with the guy with the (fake) oz accent....
  17. I respect Marv for the job he does. I respect that he chooses to kill vegetables when he needs to eat. There that lettuce was, growing in the ground until someone came along and lopped its head off just so he could have nourishment. I would also expect, as smart as he is, that he accepts that other people have different views.
  18. The third is Patsy Ramsey (mother of JonBenet). Cancer sucks.
  19. I don't know. There's the opinion based on shaky reasoning that the show creates cynacism --> not voting --> breakdown of democracy. And then there's the opinion that far from that, people watch because they still do care. The opposite of love isn't hate (=cynacism, for purposes of our argument); it's indifference.
  20. Offsides in hockey isn't even close to the same. In terms of the physical attributes, and then the small thing that it only requires the puckhandler to be the first to cross the line --- not that a defender must be in front. In soccer, there can not be a breakaway. I watch more soccer than that, but regardless, it doesn't take a genius. I'm presenting the argument that a lot of kids in America don't continue playing soccer b/c the rules don't allow for much personal or team success. Not too many people who like to brag that they ran 10 miles in 90 minutes and the score was still 0-0 and that this is the case in like 40 percent of matches. In no other sport that I can think of offhand could tripping someone equate to either a foul, a penalty kick, a yellow card or a red card, all at the discretion of one person.
  21. I think a lot of the problem is that kids here are playing soccer more and more, but as they learn the stupidity that is the rules and that the ref has so much say in adjudicating penalties, etc. that they leave it to play a sport where the rules make more sense. "You mean, if I'm so fast that I can get past the last defender on the field and put the ball in the net, the goal doesn't count?! If a player so much as cuts a loud fart in front of the goalie, it's called interference!? F--- this!" I enjoy the main parameters of the sport, but FIFA sucks. As for the topic, Arena sounds like he expects he's not long for the job.
  22. I think it was summed up best by an autograph Steve Sabol got when he was a teen. (And this was straight from the horse's mouth when "60 Minutes" did a profile on NFL Films last year). To wit:
  23. Depending on Big Ben's recovery, might add Pittsburgh to the list.
  24. Another Republican, and probably the only one of the ones mentioned I would consider voting for, is Mitt Romney (Gotta do something about that name, tho. Then again they ran a guy named Dubya....). A Northeast Republican is a different animal than in the rest of the country. NE Repubs generally veer away from the social politics or are more willing to come to an agreeable compromise on them, and they run based on fiscal policy (whether they're any good at fiscal policy....). In New England there seems to be a belief that people want a Dem legislature to make the laws, but they want a Repub governor to have the last word on budgeting and to implement said laws. Romney has a history of taking over when things get effed up and turning it around --- 2002 Olympics, coming into a really difficult situation in Mass. There's been several times when his leadership and desire to just jump to and solve problems have had me nodding my head, not the least of which was the serious flooding last year when a major dam broke. He showed up and asked the engineers what they needed and got the eff out of the way, then set up a plan to check all of the dams in the state so the same thing might not happen again. Most recently was his role in getting universal health insurance for Mass residents.
  25. Just curious --- 1) How're they going to do it? And 2) Will they let the people come up and beat his body with their shoes?
