I wouldn’t go as far as to say that the offense was outstanding. However, it was improved and had better flow than previous weeks. Defense put them in some good situations which they need to convert that into TDs. However, the winning formula for remainder of the season is for the offense to get early leads and allow the defense to force teams into becoming one dimensional.

The formula is also greatly aided when the Bills protect the ball. Losses to NYJ, NE and Den are great examples! Make stupid turnovers and you lose to teams you have no business losing to and get your OC canned.

The Bills need to somehow win 4 games left to get to 10-7. 10-7 most likely gets them in 9-8 and prob not unless a lot of teams fall off

Gotta beat NE, Chargers and then at least get two more at the minimum out of Philly, KC, Dallas and Miami. Even at 10-7 I worry about us losing to tiebreakers. Lose to Philly and KC and the playoffs maybe unreachable with literally giving games away against NYJ, NE and Denver.

  3. I could certainly see the Bills drafting the punter from Iowa. (Tory Taylor)

Outside of Morse who will likely retire, the OL is much better.  RB will just be Cook remaining.

IMO, WR, S, C are big positions of need. Depth at DE, DT, LB

The coaching staff gets really intriguing. Does McDermott get fired. No way they run it back with him as the DC. Who are potential DC  candidates? Who are potential candidates for the OC? Does McDermott let the coordinators put their own stamp on things?

If McDermott is back he needs to be mentoring with proven successful head coaches. The most frustrating thing is we are seeing ZERO growth or accountability from him.  That’s extremely troubling for anyone in a leadership position!

  4. With Dorsey relieved as the OC, Brady will now audition for the role, but barring this team valuing the ball I don’t anticipate much changing this season. It’s more likely they have a losing record than a winning record when the season concludes. McDermott and Beane will need to select an OC and DC which will be critical hires.  McDermott is and should be on the hot seat. His teams under his leadership are outcoached, unprepared, undisciplined and continue to find new games to lose they have no busy losing.

    Big changes coming on D!

YTD, Von has ONE tackle and an assist. Honestly, I don’t see why he’s even active on game days. Big cap hit if released but his game looks down.

SECONDARY: Tre, Poyer and Hyde likely gone. That leaves Rapp, Benford, Douglas, Elam, Jackson and Johnson. Will need to add a safety.

LB: Milano, Bernard and D Williams. Need to add LB depth

DL: Gotta get DQ and AJE resigned. Ed, Groot and I’d resign L Joseph. Most likely moving on from Settle and Phillips.

Punter: Martin probably won’t be back

Offensively: Don’t expect Morse to be back. Will need a center. Most importantly will need to upgrade the WR with additional playmakers.

Josh needs to spend the offseason working on fundamentals and improving his craft.

Will be a defining offseason for Beane and McDermott. They squandered three seasons in a row now!

  5. Playoffs is a pipe dream at this point. Bills will have to go 5-2 which isn’t happening. In addition they have 5 divisional losses. We are dang fortunate we didn’t lose to the NYG and if TB sees the Hail Mary we’d be 3-6! That’s pathetic!

We are now playing for the 2024 draft spot which based upon Beane’s history there is no guarantee it will be an impactful player.

McDermott’s tenure in Buffalo should be over. Under his leadership this team continues to find new ways to lose. They are unprepared, undisciplined, unfocused and outschemed far too often.

    Just sad all around!

  6. Did anyone not see that ending coming. First loss in a very long time I’m not even that upset. I’m just numb now. As soon as Josh scored, my gut said they’ll lose on a FG as time expires. The very first play by Denver is the RB leak out that torch him all night. The second blitz was just idiotic and play into Denver’s hand.

McDermott needs to go. Great guy but just continues to choke under pressure. The Bills have gone from one of the most dynamic offenses to a hot mess. Every unit is far too inconsistent. And under his leadership they continue to find new ways to lose. I think 8-9 is a realistic possibility with a 3rd place finish in the AFCE.

  7. A few games remaining to wrap up week 10 but thus far here are my thoughts on who’s overachieving and underachieving.

    Over:

Texans: Rookie QB, young roster but sitting at 5-4. One game behind Jax but few would of had them in playoff contention this year.

Pittsburgh: Lacking in offense but finding a way. 6-3

Cleveland: 6-4 with Watson who missed multiple games and lost their stud RB for the season.  Strong D with an inconsistent Watson but sitting in good shape.

Minny: Atrocious start, lost starting QB but have won five start sitting at 6-4 playoffs are in play. Most had them in top 10 2024 draft after their star. Rebounded and have legit shot at playoffs with JJ coming back.

    Under:

Buffalo: Hopefully a victory against Denver or this season will shift to crisis mode with the remaining schedule. Bad losses against NE and NYJ with squeakers against TB and NYG. Best win is MIA who has yet to beat a winning team. Coaching, scheme, execution, slow start, inconsistency and defensive injuries. Missing the playoffs is unacceptable with their talent. Next two games are critical to get right!

Cinncy: 5-4 and in last place in the AFCN. Uphill battle to make playoffs but own tiebreaker against Buffalo.

LA Chargers: 4-5 In a competitive AFC playoffs are looking like remote possibility. Coaching change is likely coming.

Anyone have anything different or a different viewpoint?

    LETS GO BUFFALO!

  8. McDermott is the HEAD COACH and not the DC only. That post gamer presser was embarrassing. He could talk in-depth about the D but had no answers why they weren’t going more uptempo on offense or barely talked about the offense. It’s obvious he’s putting it all on Dorsey. IMO McDermott is regressing as a coach and him taking on the DC role is impacting the team. The reality is he has no answers on offense and one can only wonder was it like that with Daboll?

  9. Frustration from BillsMafia is high so I can only imagine what it’s like in the locker room.

i have no direct knowledge but it sure seems like the offensive philosophy is lacking and questionable. McDermott and Dorsey want to run this 12 personnel with a slow and methodical run/ pass balance and limit Josh’s running ability.

The problem is that’s not who they are or what works best for them. This should be a uptempo offense putting major pressure on the D. Josh has needed more investment in the OL and more playmakers on offense outside of Diggs. When Diggs gets taken away then it’s all on Josh. Outside of Diggs, your rookie TE and check downs to Cook, no one else is stepping up consistently.

I don’t quite know where to go.

I think McD has been a decent CEO. But there have been issues.

Ive been critical of Beane. Our roster is old and expensive. It will take a year or two to dig out of.

Dorsey is sometimes great. But also not.

Josh is physically gifted. Wildly talented. But erratic and not great feel feel at times.

I think it I s time to rebuild this thing from protection  around Josh and out. Fans won’t love it, but it will take a few seasons to get Von, Tre, Hyde/Poyer, Knox, and Morse off the roster and have reasonable replacement. And it will force Josh to make some more plays with his arm, and may exacerbate some things. But it may be a necessary evil.

Otherwise we just become Rodgers and GB.

I don’t see how Hyde, Poyer, Tre, Von and Morse are back next year.

They wont beat Philadelphia or KC thats for sure.  They will be very lucky to get to 10-7.

We barely won against NYG and TB. None of the 8 games remaining are a given with the way they are playing. Heck I’m not sure if they will finish any better than 4-4 in their remaining games. 9-8 won’t get it done and they are on the wrong side of most of the tiebreakers.
