Play-making =/= running ability. It's pretty easy to see similarities to Cam when you watch Allen play IMO.

He's not anywhere close to the type of playmaker Cam is.  He is near 20 pounds lighter and quite a bit slower.   There are plays Cam can make that guys like Allen just cant.  Guys like Cam and Clowney are freaks of nature.  Don't get me wrong Allen's arm is ungodly, but as a playmaker he doesn't live in the same league as Newton, and I think the comparison is wrong.  Just my opinion, doesnt mean I am right.

  2. Can people please stop saying Josh Allen has "Cam Newton Like Playmaking Ability?"  Newton is far and away the most freakish athlete to ever play the quarterback position.  He is the size of a defensive end and had a similar 40 time to guys like Jamison Crowder or Michael Thomas from New Orleans.  Allen isn't even the athlete Colin Kaepernick was coming out of Nevada.

A fair comparison for Allen in terms of just being an athlete is Carson Wentz, but in no way does he compare to Newton in that realm.

  3. My favorite college football player ever.  Amazing to watch last year.  The touch on his passes down the seam of the field is second to none.

That being said I dont think the Bills draft him.  He is my #1 quarterback, but historically Beane and McDermott have been a part of teams who have drafted quarterbacks 6'2 or taller with lower accuracy percentages.

Probably Kubiak. He's Elway's right hand guy and probably going to take his job back (after some rest) once Elway fires Vance Joseph. Dude is a dead man walking. I think Elway clearly hired him, so he can fire him after two years and no one would care. Kubiak needed a break.

You're correct.  I read the OU report last night and they mentioned Kubiak was there as a Sr. advisor.

I'm confused as to why people think this means Hughes is out?

I think it because with Zo switching back to Defensive End they currently have 7 or 8 Defensive Ends on the Roster.   With Murphy getting 7million I think it makes Hughes expendable at 10.4.  But you never really know do you?

Don't get me wrong; I like him as a prospect, and if Buffalo had finished the year with a top 10 pick, I'd consider using it on him. But all of these trades to potentially move up and use it on such a risky prospect scares me a lot, so I'm with you in that regard.

The big question is whether or not Buffalo believes he has the tools to be an accurate passer (mainly the coordination required to understand where he needs to put the ball in order for it to hit a moving target in stride) and simply needs to tweak his mechanics in order to get there, or if they think even with improved footwork, he's incapable. You can tell watching his film that his footwork definitely causes issues; I'm not smart enough to be able to tell if the coordination is there or not.

I agree.  I just prefer for them to wait for the 4th round to get developmental guys.  I generally hope the Bills scout well enough to get starters in rounds 1-3, especially with the roster not being that deep.

Allen is more in the Carson Wentz mold of athlete, but he'll still be one of the more athletic QBs in the league. And I'm assuming you purposefully used 57% as the cutoff so that people couldn't point to Matt Stafford's 57.1%?

You'd be correct, but even for the players that have made it Stafford's is low.  In relation Allen's is even lower than that.

People want to blame it on the lack of talent around him, but when I watch his games it doesnt stand out to me that thats the case.  I see passes thrown into the ground, missing high, completely missing routes altogether with balls being thrown into the middle of the field.

He may be great, I am not paid to evaluate football players, but he scares the hell out of me.

  8. Just now, Dr. Who said:

You can take Rudolph in the second round, maybe the third.  Mayfield is my first choice, so I hope that part of your argument is correct.

Lets hope so.  The only top ten quarterback Beane has ever been a part of drafting was a Jr. who had only started 14 games.   He won them all, so maybe thats the better case for Mayfield, I dont know.  I am not sure Rosen is a good fit for the RPO, but you really cant tell anymore.

  9. Hasn't had more than seven sacks in a season since 2013.  If we are going the old/injured route I'd much prefer they make an offer to Julius Peppers.  I think you can get as much production out of Lorenzo Alexander at Defensive End in 2018 as you could Hali, and Zo is already on the roster.

Marcus Peters and Michael Bennett, both elite IMO, but aren't "model teammates".

Talib wouldn't get much. This trade market is downright laughable right now, they'd probably move him for a 5th or 6th pick.

What is that 5th or 6th really worth? A flyer on a guy that might be a backup? Big deal.

Aggressive man corners always draw more flags, and he may have a game a year where he is suspended.

Is it worth it? Good question, but I'd argue yes....Talib has shut down plenty of #1 WRs for years. That really isn't debatable.

No.  In my opinion you've got to stop looking at players for only their play on the field.  We have used this model in the past.  What we have now is a coach trying to build a team, and you don't do that just because a high talent player is available.  You need to look at these guys from every aspect of the job, not just production on the field.   Their production is only a fraction of what they are being paid for.   You need to look at lockeroom, filmroom, off the field, contract, and on the field production.   There a reason the trade market for these players isn't yielding high picks right now, and there is also a reason they are available in the first place.  They may be good players but moves like this need to be weighed on a risk/reward scale using all of the above elements.
