Either Boogie or Shaq isn't making the team. At least Epenesa had a pulse with 6.5 sacks last year.
I'm feeling like Beane is going to try to swap Boogie for a 5th or something along those lines. Next year's draft--by all accounts--is likely to be better than this past year's, and we have an extra 3rd and two extra 6's, beyond our original picks... Beane's stackin' picks like flapjacks, over here 😎

I’m certainly not against signing Ed long term like this, but I think letting him play out his contract year and then having the franchise tag in your pocket if he popped was the best move. The justification for doing this now would be if we were making more cap room to add a DHop or other piece whatever that may be. But I think they just value him more than most on the board do.
Over The Cap has the projected 2024 franchise tag for DT's set just shy of $20.9 million... This is under that.
And by "this", we're talking about the agent-friendly numbers.
I would take an agent-friendly $17 mil over an actual $20.9 mil, any day.

Cody Ford instead of AJ Brown or fan favorite at the time, DK Metcalf. I question whether we would have traded for Diggs if we had drafted one of the two, however. Maybe we'd have Metcalf and Justin Jefferson. Maybe we wouldn't have Allen. Who knows.
All I know for sure is the Cody Ford was not a good football player when he was here.
Cody Ford instead of my gosh-darned laundry hamper... Worst pick, ever!
At least we got a pick back from AZ for him. That's literally the most important thing Ford ever did for us.

Different strokes for different folks.
Also, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was a distance runner for a college program (DIII) that took 1st, 2nd, 2nd, and 1st in the nation, the four years I ran for them (and, yes: I raced in each National meet... Not a benchwarmer or flag-waiver).
Anyhow, my coach once handed down a bit of colloquial wisdom, that applies to JA17. He told me:
"There are two types of women: The ones that make you run faster, and the ones who don't... Make sure you're with the right type!"
Let's just hope Steinfeld is the "right" type.

I doubt it. Pat is probably used to him being a DB.
I doubt Mahomes became a great QB by practicing against Jackson, as a DB 🤔😉😂

We started the Offseason 18.5m over the cap with 24 FA's to fill, plus come up with money for Draft picks, plus Practice Squad, plus spending money for emergencies during the season. He's done a great job doing what he's done.
If you were expecting "I've heard of him!" superstars across the board - you were deluding yourself and letting yourself down by getting crazy expectations.
@BillsFanForever19 As the Almighty Bruce Nolan says: "Expectations minus reality equals disappointment."

what resources are limited?
Time and attention of coaches, reps, time on task.

It does make sense, seeing that many have virtually no chance of making the team, why waste resources on them when that time and energy can be better used to improve players that are more likely to be rostered.
Precisely! Resources are limited; focus on the ones with a chance to stick.

They typically leave a couple open slots going into camp. I doubt they leave 5 to 7
Which would be normal operating procedure. Post draft likely talking about UDFAs.
see UDFAs are going to be hard for Bills to sign with no clear path to roster. There isn’t a lot of thin position groups. So Inwould imaging we are likely going to have around 83-85 with Roster, UDFAs and Draft picks.
past years we have had 87-88 after those three and full with late UFAs.
I just hope we get some DT's! Any DT's.

I thought Beane said something about not having 90? Closer to 83-85...🤔
@LyndonvilleBill Yeah, in his 30 minute post-draft presser, Beane mentioned that we won't likely go all the way up to 91, and mentioned the mid-80's as a rough estimate. Makes sense.

With Oliver, Jones, Phillips, and Settle - we're set there this season. 1 or 2 of those guys will re-sign in the near future. It wasn't a need this season. Might be next season - but that's what next year's FA and Draft are for.
I sure do need a little copium, ha ha! Thanks 🙏

Well, I guess they'll be able to entire priority USDA DT's, since they'll all know the cupboards in Buffalo are bare AF!
Not pleased that we completely ignored the DT spot.
Otherwise, I generally like this draft. First two picks were phenomenal. Jury's out on Williams, but at least our Williams cupboard is no longer bare 🤷♂️
Beyond that we just have a few guys with some measure of potential. Given a weak overall draft, it looks like Beane did alright with the resources we had, and laid a solid groundwork for next year's draft, with some pick swaps.

Damn, you, Philly! Ugh...

That makes sense this late in the draft to trade for next year.
Yeah, yeah, I just want Ojomo. Hope he's still there at 215.
In truth, it was a good move. Initial reaction was lacking the context of what we received.

Traded out for Houston's 7th rounder and a 2024 6th rounder. I like adding a pick next year.
Almost guaranteed that next year's draft will have better talent. A 6th next year may equate to a 5th, in this year's talent pool.

WHAT? Why trade, now? Better get something, next year!

Ojomo, please, Beane!

New England trades UP to draft a kicker, and then drafts a punter... Billy doing Patsy things.

Shorter! Okay, okay, we brought him in for a visit, so we must like him. I trust that they see something in him.
