I have read about the incredible preparation Sean McDermott did for the Ravens game(studied every play by the Ravens this season). Going so far as to sign former Baltimore QB Anthony Brown to the practice squad to help the Bills prepare a defense for Lamar Jackson.
The way the Bills countered the Ravens showed that they made some worthwhile corrections and that they were the most prepared team on the field. The Bills were called for only one penalty for a total of 10 yards. He also made the critical call to go for the three points when they were 4th and a long two yards from scoring after Josh lost yards on the 3rd down play. Clock management was excellent and even the coin toss worked out well.
Well done coach McD !
Not a huge deal, but the Bills were called for two penalties. One was declined.

Unfortunately, business will have me in San Fran this upcoming weekend for the wildcard round. I will be landing in SFO at about 9:45 (so 15 minutes before gametime). Any recommendations right near the airport to watch the game? It doesn't have to be a Bills Bar, just somewhere that will broadcast the game. I see there is a BJ's Brewhouse about 5 minutes away and a BWW about 13 minutes away. I'm fine with either one of those, but wanted to see if there were any insider recommendations. Thanks...Go Bills.
Probably going to miss a bit of the game because baggage claim can be a long walk and sometimes a bit of a wait. Regardless, going to North Star will take too long and you'll probably miss at least the entire first quarter. Not sure what your other plans are for the day, but it would probably be best to stay at the airport or get an uber to a really close bar to see as much of the game as possible
One airport bar is right outside of security for the G gates. It has many tvs and will serve drinks. It will be more expensive at about $32 for a double cocktail or $15 for a beer. So, you may want to go to a bar close by, which will be cheaper for drinks.

So in January it’s going to be cold in Western NY, the lakes will be warmer that the ambient temperature, and somewhere, not sure where, there will be lake effect snow bands? These hobby forecasters really going out on a limb here.
From an experienced forecaster…there’s not a single numerical model that’s worth a damn outside of 96 hours. There’s probably a greater than 90% chance the long range models (including ensembles) paint a completely false solution of what actual conditions will be. A single minuscule and under calculated variable can be the difference between a record setting cold outbreak and a weekend that’s well within the climatological norms for Orchard Park.
This is an interesting post.
Like you, I can get a bit annoyed or uncomfortable with "hobbyists" who make claims outside of their professional fields of study and work. For instance, my field (PhD) is Economics, and the amount of misinformation / speculation that proliferate from hobbyists about something like inflation, for example, is frustrating.
Regardless, I wonder, do professional forecasters use numerical models to forecast weather beyond the 96 hours, and if so, are their forecasts reputable in any way, or is the 96 hour limit a rule, per se? Do professional forecasters simply qualify their forecasts beyond 96 hours with a disclaimer? In other words, if numerical weather models aren't worth a damn outside of 96 hours, then what do professional weather forecasters actually do? Or are weather forecasters still searching for the best numerical model?
You don't have to answer these questions, and they may not be reasonable questions (since I know nothing about weather), but it is interesting.

Lmao “make yourself look worse so your employer benefits and you lose your job.”
Not really the case here.
Compliance with management is actaully more desirable in this case for future employers.
In other words, if a employee puts his ego aside for the betterment of the organition, the management of any organizition will consider that more valuable.
More specifically, who will want to hire Daboll at this point? His coaching ability has taken a huge hit for a couple of years, so one of the only positives left for him was tacet compliance.
So, he most definitely made himself "look worse" by winning. Lmao

They just seem to run into teams at the most advantageous time for them.
5 yard penalty for poor grammar.
Adding "for them" at the end of the sentence is redundant, since you already use the pronoun "they" at the beginning of the sentence.

Is misspelling a 5 or 15 yard penalty?

The defense is not good.
The Pats* game was unusual though. The Bills had 6 PI calls against them. The only other game close to that was the Rams game with 5 PI calls against.
On top of the PI calls, the Bills had two illegal formations, one offensive holding and an unnecessary roughness. All very inconsistent and subjective calls.
Along with defensive improvement, the Bills need to have the refs call less panalities on them.
Again, the defense is not good, but this sort of officiating certainly contributed to the closeness of the game.

Some good boxing on this evening. Jaime Munguia, super exciting Mexican fighter on ESPN.

Cue the old timers who like the old school violence. Tough guys who also don't want a dome because they're so darn tough. Man, those tough guys. We should all admire their toughness.

SF is an amazing food city. I live in The Mission and the mexican food rivals SoCal.
Italian food in North Beach, as well, with pizza that rivals Buffalo, e.g. Capo's and Tony's.
Cioppino is fantastic and can be found all over the city.
All styles of Asian food are here and most of it is delicious.
Very few chains and franchises here. About 95% mom pop restaurants.
Probably watching at the NorthStar tomorrow and eating sushi after the game.
Oh, and San Fran is no more dangerous than any average city. So, stop asking...

Give Hamlin some credit. He's played good in the two games, and he stepped up to stop a TD that could have shifted the game. He made a good tackle at the exact moment we needed it. He may not be great, but he's not that bad.

Keon Coleman is so slow that injured MVS, Samuel, and Claypool are still faster.

Ariza just kicked a 62 yard bomb , Meanwhile our punter keeps shanking balls and his holds add to bass becoming unreliable. ( man , I wish we had enough courage to stand behind a kid who had a great family , squeaky clean rep , at least until he was proven to have done something. This is why running a corp to be pc can backfire, just ask bud lite!).
I know. I remember when being accused and charged with gang rap% and keeping your job was the norm. Darn millenials!

This seems to be a decision that epitomizes Buffalo. There is an unrelenting loyalty / nostalgia that characterizes the city. I left in 2003 and return for a game once a year. I was shocked last year to see that Jackie Walker is still a newscaster. She's like 80 years old. Like Brown hire, there is so much broadcasting talent and limited jobs. Surely, they can find better people. It's great to be loyal and keep up local traditions, but it's like the city that can't move on and embraced the new. For instance, the people still think it's a blue collar factory town when the industries moved out in the 1980s.

this doesnt surprise me one bit. USWNT played in Mexico some time ago, and the stadium had fully kitted armed security ringing the pitch. body armor, tac helmets, pistols, the whole shebang, for what was a tiny crowd compared to the capacity of the stadium they played in. Central and South America is no joke. the security situation down there is a mess. so you want to send celebrity millionaires to some of the highest per capita cities for kidnapping, riding around in armored vehicles? the insurance companies must be having a fit. next WWC is in Brazil, and you have to wonder how safe its going to be for all the teams/players. no hate to these countries, but you cant ignore just how unsafe it is for foreigners, even in the tourist zones. you couldnt pay me to go to Mexico, the cartels run a 1/4 of that country outright, and have their fingers in nearly everything else in the other parts. Brazil isnt much better.
just another example of how your boss really doesnt care about you. its all about the money.
Only Brazil and Mexico have more muders per year than the United States. Colombia averages almost 10,000 less murders per year.
Typical ignorant Americans, as usual.
I've been in Bolivia for two weeks and will be here, Chile, and Brazil backpacking for another 7 weeks. It's muy tranquilo aqui. I frequented TJ and Baja for years and never had an issue. Sure, bad things happen sometimes, but don't pretend the U.S. is some safe peaceful country.
I swear one American hears about a kidnapping or murder, oh boy! Those dangerous countries! Heck, Buffalo has one of the highest murder rates in the U.S. High than Oakland, where I live.
Don't let facts get in the way, though.
Have fun in Disneyland, bro.

So the process you've described here isn't an NFL scouting process. You've essentially just watched his college tape and graded him on what he's done. That isn't NFL scouting. NFL scouting is about projecting the player to the next level. You're evaluating the player as, for example, "how well did he separate in the college tape I watched?" versus "can he develop the ability to separate at the NFL level?" Might seem like a small difference but it changes how you look at the prospect.
For me, the answer to that 2nd question is clearly "yes." His size and strength and fluidity and movement with the ball in his hands tells me all the traits to separate are there. His competitiveness and known work ethic and known football character tell me the desire is there. His age and relative inexperience tells me the room to grow is there. So I'm not nitpicking every single college rep because that doesn't help me to answer the question that is being asked. I'm looking at the player and the person as a whole and projecting his ability to become successful at the next level by looking at the totality of his physical and character traits.
Replace this entire post with references to Josh Allen instead of Keon Coleman and you'll understand why so many amateurs and fans (myself included) were embarrassingly loudly wrong about him six years ago.
But he quoted Bill Parcels!
