so a rough guess as to the WR's by rank and position.

    we know the 3  locks.

     Brown Beasley and Jones.
    #4 Foster ?

Maybe the TE situation allows an extra WR to start the season ?
and all the RBs might affect the 53 as well.

Hope Daboll has a flexible plan and finds the right guys for his schemes

i'm pulling for duke. they know they need that  big body redzone guy. if he comes on strong games 3 and 4, i  think he'll make it. the guys that start out the first couple good not so much....ie. brandon reilly. they talked about this yesterday on obl.

True, but I don’t think Yeldon is trending towards making it to be on the final 53 IMO.

yeldon is a star special teamer. they will roll with 4.

I am tired of losing to the Jets in the season opener since I have been a Bills fan.?

1986 (Kelly's first game, so it wasn't much of a big deal losing to the Jets as a TERRIBLE team)

    1987

    1994

2002 (Bledsoe's first game, a loss in an exciting shootout)

2012 (Majorly disappointed in my team that day)

    2017 (FINALLY)

Now let the Bills start an opening day winning streak against those jokers who don't even have a home field.

yeah that 2012 game.....everyone including the talking heads said it would be an easy win and we got punked.

i think this game is a critical tone setter. we win this one...makes it easier to beat the gmen in the same place and having the first home game against the bengals, we could use the confidence of being 2-0.

Are we all assuming 6 WRs are ultimately kept? We'll see how it translates to the preseason games, but it sounds like Ray Ray is making a decently strong push to be the backup slot man behind Beasley (unless Daboll views Zay as the backup slot). If we only kept 5 for whatever reason, I'd guess it would be Brown, Beasley, Roberts, Ray-Ray, and one of Zay/Foster.

i'm going with brown and foster on the outside together. i think it would be a waste of either to not have the other opposite. that being said....

brown/beasley/ jones/foster/roberts and the duke....sills makes it 7. that would be a very solid group.

They largely have the same defensive line as last year, just swap out an aging Kyle for the rookie Ed Oliver.  I'm not holding my breath that Oliver will make that big of an impact out of the gate.  I suspect he will see that he NFL guards and centers are a lot better than what he saw while playing for U of H.  If Murphy is injured, I don't think the pass rush will be formidable at all, coupled with the fact that Frazier tends not to blitz or stunt to overload the opponents weakest link on the OLine.

...and that is why these old school coaches fail. look at what the pats did to rivers in the playoffs. they made him look like peterman. they brought it on every single snap.

i hope mcd will step in if the old wannstandt style of defense rears it's head again like early last season. we have the backend to blitz like crazy and the few times we did last year, i believe all ended up with sacks. i'm holding hope on murphy being a monster. we need him game 1 for sure.

I wonder how that kid out of North Carolina A&T is coming along... Daryl Johnson Jr.

The Bills scouts tend to hit gold in their later round signings - the kid is raw, but has the height 6' 6" and the build that is in the mold of some of the more successful DE's, maybe not as tall as Jacksonville's Campbell (that kid is a sky scraper), but in the neighborhood.

He has some solid guys to learn from, will be interesting to see if he sticks.

i sure hope he does. i think he'll be another dwight freeney.

Paying him millions under the table wouldn't come as a shock from this cheating franchise.

but he's not stupid. i'm sure there's a deal in place for all the team friendly contracts....like 10% in the team going forward.

I watched most of his games last year, he’s not the same QB anymore. Stats stats stats... google away. There’s a lot more to games than the stats. Brady can’t throw deep anymore. He was dangerous cause he would kill you on short range and dump offs but you had to respect his deep shots down the field. His running back had 8-900 of those yards.

They made the playoffs and were a good team last year because they were a pretty dominant run team. They have completely transformed from years ago.

he's dangerous because he knows the game better than anybody else...

  6. my nephew had a son born at or about the same time as hunter with crabaes..(sp?).  i felt so bad. they got to know jim and jill and the movement. he lasted to about 8 yrs. old. i believe they passed around the same period of time and jimbo's speech at the hall of fame was awesome.

i'm sure that's exactly how my nephew felt.  it's been a while so please don't fact check my memory. the guy is a wonderful human being and i would love to have a beer with him sometime. maybe i can catch a future event. i couldn't be anything more than a caddy at his golf event(with a cart), but ya never know.

always wanted to have wings with fred smerlas at bathtub billys too....as long as i ain't gotta pay for his...those guys have given me so many great memories and i'm looking for mcbeane and allen to give us more.

Agree when I see Duke Williams I see a Position Transition Player. Goes on the PS as they turn him into a TE. Similar to Croom.

Also so I think on the outside looking in that fans like are McKenzie and McCloud.

If season started right right now I think based off roster, contracts and market your 6 WRs are in no special order

    Zay Jones

    Robert Foster

    Josh Brown

    Cole Beasley

    Andre Roberts

    David Sills

if they Keep 7 likes McKenzie (IF Season Started this weekend)

i think some of you are under rating the fact that duke was the cfl's no.1 receiver, as well as the fact these coaches know they have to dramatically increase converting redzone trips to tds. that requires a duke. i think they still believe in the need of the big body for the corner of the endzone.

maybe they can list him as a 4th te if kroft starts out on pup list.

    Let see here:

    Cole Beasley - Makes it

    John Brown - Makes it

    Robert Foster - Makes it

    Zay Jones - Makes it

    Andre Roberts - Makes it

So depending on Keeping 6 or 7 leaves one or two spots for

    Victor Bolden

    Nick Easley

    Ray Ray McCloud

    Isaiah McKenzie

    Cam Phillips

Duke WIlliams (TBH, I think goes to PS as a TE Conversion Project similar to Croom was)

    Da'Mari Scott

Davis Sills (think goes to PS but the Bills did try to draft him and put a ton of effort in him as a UDFA, based on Embedded) So could have the leg up on grabbing one of the remaining spots.

i think we'll carry 7 seeins how roberts will pretty much be a steamer.  brown, beasley, foster, jones, duke, sills and (roberts). that would be dope  yo.

edit: come to think of it ..throw in knox, croom and sweeny along with our rb stable, we should have the weapons to really light an offensive inferno this year. i haven't been this excited in 25 yrs. btw. i don't think we'll see kroft til week 3 and then i'm guessing injury settlement. i've never seen a foot problem overcome long term.

A new stadium and a new arena would completely screw Erie County.

ya think? andy isn't gonna do that. best bet is have the senecas take the job and put a sports betting casino in it....with a hotel next door. don't be surprised...

1 minute ago, Don Otreply said:

I guess the OP is going to be disappointed then.  When the new stadium is built it’s gonna be downtown. Just imagine, a city with tens of thousands of people on the streets, a vibrant city, a city with the name  BUFFALO attached to it.  Wouldn’t that be a great day for BUFFALO New York?  I sure hope all you BUFFALO BILLS fans think that would be a very good thing to have happen.

    Go Bills!!!

no offense but i give more credence to those who actually live in the area.

What meaningful upgrades are possible in that stadium with its sunken design ?  Something that would give actual pricing power ? Fewer seats can be accomplished for certain, but climate control ? Much wider concourses with better concessions and larger restrooms ? I’m not an expert, but I’ve read about these issues when previous renovations were done. A reno won’t be cheap, and the improvements may not go far enough. Any revenue increases will need to come from ticket pricing structure and concessions because a stadium won’t change the corporate situation in Buffalo.

Buffalo could improve its traffic flow by fixing the ridiculously poor traffic light timing, for starters. It’s haphazard, nonsensical and horrific.

true points ,but the cost of a new stadium will come from taxpayers, not the pegs. i don't know if a retractable roof is feasible but, if considerably less than a new stadium, they could promote big stuff year round. in any case downtown would still suck.

Yep... I didnt know about this route but a cop at a stop directed me, take this way. What you're doing is going to take forever. My hat off to him.

I did however sit in stop and go traffic for an hour on I90, so the point still stands. Traffic is always going to be an issue leaving a venue with 70 or 50 thousand people there. No way around it.

The stadium has almost nothing to do with the sports science facility. I'm sure it could have some use on game days, but nothing that couldn't be replicated in a new stadium. You can practice and use that facility during the week and play downtown. They have little do with each other.

well i'm sticking with the hell no to downtown. they didn't just put 25 mil into a temp. site. it's meant to be an all in one location.

I don't think Allen is anything like Newton, and I doubt Beane ever though so, either.

Granted, they both are big and they both can run, but Allen's game is throwing the ball.  Cam isn't all that good a thrower.

agree 100%. josh allen should model his game for josh allen...period. he has skills that none of those others have. i hope he doesn't try to be someone else...make his own brand.

    and i believe he will.

Nice video on signature moves. Could have added Bruce's spin move but really like they had a surprise Bill at the end. What other Bills signature moves would you add. Bet Tasker could have something but not sure if there was a specific move. Out of bounds run and tackle?

sorry i didn't go through all the posts yet but for me.....

    1. arthur moats hit on favre

    2. smerlas blocking the last second field goal to send us to the playoffs in 1988

    3. tasker's hit on the rams returner......forget what year..

    4. the game against the broncos where we scored(from behind) like 21 pts. in a minute 17

5.bryce paup kicking the ball into the stands as a miami player went to the ground with it...i think it was a playoff game..

    6. ....but should be number 1 is josh allen throwing to foster in the jags game after be goosepiled.....ah heck, i could go on and on, had a few pops..out.

    7. kelly running it in in miami...ok now i'm out. i'll hang up and listen.

He's been with Tasker on the radio this week & I'm surprised by his lack of knowledge.

Yesterday he talked about how Miami traded Wes Welker to NE & expressed astonishment that they would trade him in the division.  What he obviously had no knowledge of is the fact Welker was a restricted free agent & had agreed to terms with NE on a contract with a poison pill that would make it impossible for Miami to match.  Because the contract wasn't signed the fact that NE had Miami over a barrel is somewhat obscured because Welker signed a new contract with NE after the trade, but anyone who covers a team in the division should know this.

Then today they were talking about players whose careers were cut short by injury.  Brown didn't even know what position Greg Cook played.  Greg Cook's story is well known by just about anyone who knows NFL history.  Once again, maybe acceptable for casual or younger fans, but for a guy who covers the NFL for a living, pretty bad.

his job is to cover the bills. granted, he's no gil brandt but i tune into this show to hear about the bills and foootball.  if anything tasker has all but killed the show so far. i find myself looking at what day and time it is to see if i'm actually listening to obl.  there was a thread a while back about tasker and i've been thinking about bumping it...until now.

tasker does zero show prep and carries on about nothing like howard simon. i can't wait for murph to get back. sheesh

I think Johnson will be an instant special teams stud and serviceable backup. But he absolutely has a shot to be a starter down the line. Vosean Joseph will be a starter in 2020. Don't know anything about D. Johnson.

look him up. (i don't know how to post links yet). he's another jerry hughes....nothing but a pass rush specialist/talent.  seems to have a lot of awards and going off the top of my memory ,  i think he led( possibly the nation) in sacks. it's just that he wasn't in a major program. heard him on onebillslive and he sounds like he's determined to muscle up(now at 255) and become a sack artist. shaq won't be here next year.

I think they have to pay White. He was the first pick of this regime, they passed on two young QBs who look pretty darn good so far to move back and take him, and he has already played like a borderline elite player. If in that context they are not gonna pay a guy then when would you ever pay a guy?

the question is when WILL we.  will this be the first regime to start giving out 2nd contracts? i sure hope so...and they will be the first.

Their CB stable is impressive.  Poyer and Hyde are a solid safety tandem and they could do a lot worse, but they can also do better.  Hopefully some of the younger guys start to make some noise there.

ed reed said we got an absolute steal and future star in joquan johnson(sp?). i also think vosean joseph and daryl johnson stick. i think they crushed this draft.

    Ok so....

You do realize that not every practice day is going to be perfect right?   You actually NEED days like yesterday to point to and say that players need to continue to work.

Things going perfectly everyday in practice is NOT a good thing

i was just gettin a chub for ellie mae.  don't remember citing anything about practice....however it was to be expected with shuffling in different receivers and olinemen.
