Heated seats? We used to sit in the cold and the wet at the Rockpile while praying our car would still be where we left it before the game! Ahhhh, the memories.

And….sometimes you found out that your totally unheated seat was directly behind a big steel post.

seeing as they forgot a roof.....

the entire stadium should have heated seats....then maybe folks would actually use them......have i mentioned i can't stand up for 3 straight hours anymore

Are the actual seats heated? Or is this radiant heat being ‘cast’ down on them? If it’s the latter then it makes no difference if you’re standing. If it’s the former then I’ll bet money they’ll all be broken in three years…tops.

That's not the point really, nor anything I'm doubting.  McBeane have proven time and again they'll use draft picks to move up, as they did with Kincaid and Elam in RD1 these last 2 years.

The issue is, people like to claim the draft is a total crap-shoot and that's surface-level analysis.  You can be a decent drafting team without prioritizing the riskier positions to draft and look OK or better.  You can get burned drafting the higher positions and be viewed not so good.

Drafting well is finding talent primarily at the harder to find positions because it more than likely shows up in W-L column.  I don't think the question to ask is whether the draft is a crap-shoot, which in this discussion is mostly RD1-2 picks.  It's more about are teams bold enough there to go after the premium positions to find elite talent.  When they do, they're more likely to win if they have decent personnel people.

Both can be true. I don’t think the point of the thread is to say that teams might as well use a blindfold when throwing darts at the draft board. Every team has a scouting department. Every team spends months looking at film. Every team attends the Combine. Every team interviews players. But…once you’ve done all of that it’s still far from a sure thing. I’ve always held that one of the biggest reasons is that these kids are still very young and for most they’re going through a major life change. It’s their first job. It’s almost surely far away from home. It’s their first time making real money. That’s a lot to adjust to for ANY young person, not just football players.

They view it differently in Judaism. They do not use the name of God except very rarely, if at all. They keep the name sacred. They often don't even write it.

I’m aware, and as I said it’s often misunderstood.

  5. In short, the ONLY draft pick that truly matters is for those teams looking for a starting quarterback. No other position even comes close. Thank goodness that isn’t us for a while….finally. So, stay in your draft slot and only move up or back a slot or two if you pretty much know a player you sort of like will or won’t be there because of what you know the teams directly in front of or behind you are going to do.

  6. I’ve often thought this was gravely misunderstood. You’re not supposed to take/use the Lord’s name in vain. It doesn’t say that you cannot say his name. So you are not supposed to use the Lord to swear/promise/threaten anyone, as if you have some authority over what God does or doesn’t do. Nor are you to tempt the Lord to do anything. It’s perfectly fine however to say his name in worship and adoration.

The Bills posted some new photos of the construction...

Thanks for the link! They’re definitely moving right along with the structural steel frame. It’s way more complicated than the old Rich Stadium which as we all know has a lower bowl of pretty much nothing more than concrete steps poured directly on the earthen berm.

It's 2024... There is a difference between verbiage systems and schemes now

For all intensive purposes.. when someone says EP or West Coast... They're talking about the verbiage system... Not a specific scheme ... There still is a West Coast scheme but it is differentiated from the system

You can run any single play with West Coast verbiage or EP verbiage... The difference is how it gets out

It's not like 50 years ago where the systems was built for specific schemes.. so a team using the corryell system was vastly different than a team using the West Coast system

    Nowadays that's not the case

Every single play in football has been ran.. it's over 100 years old ... You can run an uptempo vertical spread offense from the EP.. or a West Coast zone run scheme from the EP

South Right Clamp Fake 67 Slant Naked Right Zebra Slide Can 67 Slant... That will be a call in a West Coast system... Really wordsy , and a lot to memorize

F Right 72 Ghost/Tosser.. same call in EP

It's a lot easier to get out.. which is why teams have gone to the EP.. it has nothing to do with the types of plays you can use but how you relays information

I just heard this on the radio the other day (there are a bunch of similar common misstatements) …and I’m not desperate to be the grammar police….but….the correct phrase is “for all intents and purposes”….not intensive purposes. 😉

We have a neighbor who is a well known architect. He was at our place helping us and noticed all the Bills stuff in the basement. He said his wife was going for a beach trip with her friends, but he’s not a big beach lover. Instead he was going to Buffalo for a tour of  WNY architecture. This guy could go anywhere and do anything, and this was a dream trip for him.

The next day he sends me a pic of wings and beer from WNY. I remind him he’s got to try the pizza, and 30 seconds later I get the pic of his pizza. His architecture tour turned into a food and architecture tour.  If you live there it’s easy to take for granted.

Hey Augie…. I was nowhere near WNY last week. I think you’ve got an imposter on your hands. 😉

Opening day games should be in hometown, NFL stadiums.

I get the NFL wanting to expand their fanbase but fans in Brazil aren’t counting the days down to opening day like fans in regions that are home to teams.

Save these games for later in the season.

Since the teams have to travel wouldn’t it actually be BETTER for the international game to be opening weekend? The Dodgers just opened in South Korea a couple of weeks ago. Now it’s done and behind them.

You're not wrong, but you can reference the whole thread about WR roles currently on the front page. Some people in there explain I better than me.

Samuel's on the shorter side, but not skinny/small. He has good hands can run any route Davis did. Davis is not a super-athletic, jump ball-catching boundary WR, anyway.

Samuel can get the production Davis did, while hopefully the star rookie takes over the WR1 role by year two, if not year 1. I'm hoping the replacement for Diggs has that contested catch ability and super speed in his arsenal.

One of the things that I gleaned from the up thread discussion is the NFL no longer relies on what we all knew as the traditional roles…much like the NBA has gone away from guard, forward, center lineups in favor of a bunch of versatile 6’ 6” guys.

Technically, the Bills can use PSL revenues for whatever they wanna use them for, but it makes sense to put it towards their share of the construction costs. The only point I was trying to make is that unlike revenues generated from ticket sales, which are shared 60/40 between the team/league, PSL revenues are not subject to revenue sharing so it’s not like the Bills are “hiding” anything from the league as was suggested in the post I responded to initially.

I have no idea why you’d say that as it seemed you weren’t sure when you suggested to @Kirby Jackson that Pegula was avoiding revenue sharing by hiding something and I only sought to clarify the issue for you. I have no idea how that’s talking past you, but yeah, that’s okay.

Kirby said nobody was hiding anything. But in truth, if he’s correct, then Pegula is in fact hiding/avoiding revenue sharing. Now, I’m not saying that’s good, bad, or unusual but this whole PSL thing is one big dodge at its core.

Samuel is a 700-800 yard receiver in Brady's offense and still has the speed to go deep. He's definitely a Davis replacement in my book. Now we just get an all-around star to replace Diggs. I'd prefer a bigger guy with good hands. I bet the Bills will land one of Odunze, Thomas, or Legette.

The definitions of these guys is literally all over the place! Samuel was a running back and is 5’ 11” at best. Gabe Davis is considered a big body WR and is listed at 6’ 2”. Their output might be similar in terms or yards, but are they at all similar in terms of their generally considered WR role? I didn’t think so.

The Bills aren’t avoiding revenue sharing in the least because revenues from the sale of PSLs are not subject to sharing with the league. The league still gets their 40% share of the gate revenue for any particular game just like it’s been for decades.

Geeez we appear to be talking right past each other. Thats okay.

  15. 1 hour ago, Kirby Jackson said:

It’s not hiding anything. It is done that way to avoid revenue sharing. The PSL offsets a portion of Pegula’s cost to build the new stadium. It’s the cost of entry if you want to be in. It’s not uncommon at all. The areas yet to be released will come with lower price tags.

Are you going to get your money back out on the PSL? No. Maybe if you can buy those lower level clubs at midfield, that’ll keep some of its value. Ticket brokers could be interested in that because they can get a ton of money of a per ticket basis there. That’s the only place that will somewhat hold its value. No one is buying a PSL as an investment though.

Kirby, I’m not trying be snarky, but isn’t Pegula avoiding revenue sharing the very definition of ‘hiding’? 😉 And as regards the price to the ticket holder there’s a reason why when you see a car lease offer the monthly payment is shown in BIG bold font, and the down payment is ‘hidden’ in LITTLE hard to read font.

So unless your private seat license allows you to go in and eat cheese sandwich in your private seat on an odd Thursday in May, when there isn’t a game/event happening….then it really is nothing more than a hidden ticket price. No?

Bottom line is, the more tools a guy has in his toolbelt, the more you can do with him. It doesn't always trump guys who are really good at a few things, but if all your receivers are limited in some way, you do become predictable on offense.

Not everyone needs to be a jack of all trades, but having a guy who lines up on the ball and can get open is a big benefit for an offense...because a defense needs to roll coverage to stop them.

Agreed. And with a mobile QB like Josh Allen the smart move is to design plays with layers of receiver depths for him to choose from in a roll out mode. The defense can’t cover every depth AND also protect against Josh running it.
