  1. Gotta love the offensive pass interference call when the Raider's DB just fell that ruined our first quarter drive & a big play, as well as our defensive holding later in the game on 3rd down that just gave the Raiders a new set of downs. Or the holding on Incognito where he did nothing wrong at all.

I mean there were more stupid calls too, but it was really the late flags when someone complained that pissed me off. If any Raider's player threw their hands up and spun around to yell at the refs, the ref would be like "Oh, he's mad! Must be a penalty!" and throw a late flag. They initially wouldn't, but after some over reactions from Raider's players they would THEN throw the flag. Easily influenced fools.

  2. Hasn't made a single right decision his tenure here. Keeps trading away the only talented players on our roster and for what?

Has anyone taken a look at our DT depth, its horrible. He just handed out a pro bowl DT in the prime of his career for pennies.

NONE of his trades/signings have made any sense. complete shambles.

People think this is a good trade just bc we are 4-2. Wait until November rolls around and the real Buffalo Bills show up just like the last 17 years folks.

This fan base is legit the most delusional in the NFL. no joke. If anyone is responsible for the success of our team right now its DOUG WHALEY

People forget we were 4-2 last year too... It's about this point in the season where we start to see the real team, and collapse down the stretch. Trading away Dareus does NOTHING to help us is the problem.

We get a 6th rounder NEXT YEAR, who will likely never make much of an impact on this team in any way, while losing a Pro-Bowl talent that was just getting useful again. Sorry Whaley signed him to a bad contract, but that doesn't mean make it worse by losing any possible return on that investment. This is a friggin joke.

  3. Just looked up stats and can not believe zay has only caught 5 passes on 25 targets. This is absolute crap. We can not have a starting wr, never mind our so called top one doing this, unless he improves he has to sit. I long for the days of Goodwin and Parrish

The worst part is he's one of the most targeted people by Tyrod, including TE's & RB's. He also has the lowest catch rate out of all of them too.

  4. The scarier thing than the Pats being in first is how much better everyone else is doing than they were supposed to.

The Dolphins look pretty bad week after week yet still are winning.

The Jets were supposed to tank & are winning & strongly competing in every game.

The Bills offense is putrid but the defense keeps games close.

This division is going to get pretty congested unless someone separates themselves, and usually that someone is the Patriots.

  5. Year after year we always find people blaming the OC for all the problems with the QB's execution. Doesn't matter who's lined up behind center, when they don't produce there's a contingency of fans who point to playcalling instead of the QB.

I mean it's so predictable at this point. Blame the line - check. Blame the OC - check. Blame the WR's - check. Blame the injuries - check.

Just don't blame the QB, or else you're a "hater," and a pessimist/negative Nancy....

  6. Yeah...go ahead and hang your hat on those examples. I'm sure we'll be playing in February any time now TT just needs to find his rhythm.

They love pulling examples from a different era of Football with Brad Johnson and Dilfer

Yeah... Football has changed A LOT since then. Those were before all the changes made to make the passing game more dominant and protect the QB at all costs. Those teams also had teams that converted 3rd downs & scored off turnovers and had great special teams play. Their defenses were just as much a threat to score as their offenses were, as were their special teams. Our defense is play great, but they rarely score off turnovers (besides White's fumble return for a TD).

Also the Special Teams play of those 2 teams was great. If we had Special Teams play like that of older Bills teams, you know, the ones coached by Bobby April & returners like Terrence McGee & Roscoe Parrish, we may be talking a different tune. We had a Pro Bowl punter in Moorman, and gunners that just annihilated opponent return teams. We created turnovers on ST, returned kicks & punts for TDs, and had fantastic all-around play to compliment good defense. If we had that level or play NOW with our defense, we might have a better chance to overcome the crummy offense.

  7. We're going to hear the same excuses we do every year:

    1) Look who he's throwing to!
*Note: They also said that about Losman, Edwards, Orton, Fitzpatrick, Holcomb, EJ, etc.

    2) Our OC/HC isn't calling the right plays!
*Note: They also said that about Hackett, Lynn, Roman, Gailey, AVP, etc.

    3) The O-line can't block!
*That's just a half-truth that has been said every year since Bledsoe

    4) But all the injuries!
*Every team has them, it's inevitable, yet somehow others prevail while the Bills falter

    5) He doesn't turn the ball over!
*Considering how little he's on the field with all the 3 & outs, it's not saying much. Edwards also didn't throw many interceptions...

    6) Yards don't matter!
*Yards are a byproduct of a successful passing game. They don't magically appear on the stat sheet. If it weren't for guys like Shady often making big YAC, Tyrod's passing yards would look even more pedestrian. He doesn't get those yards because drives are usually dead within a minute & a half of the offense taking the field. They don't mean EVERYTHING, but look at Dalton today. He moved their offense successfully time & time again. His two turnovers were from a tipped pass and a perfect pass right through the hands of one of the best WR's in the League. The fumble was on a nice completed pass jarred loose by a great hit by Alexander. Dalton however wasn't fazed, and persevered through the end, and had the yards to show for it.

    7) The dropped balls!
*Again, everybody deals with dropped balls. The Bengals had a TON of them today, sometimes in succession. It happens to everyone, but good QB's are accurate enough to overcome that by hitting the next guy up.

    8) He's got a high completion percentage!
*True, he usually does. But completion percentage is only part of the picture. When that number is inflated by checkdowns (and it is, Shady is our leader in receptions this year with 27, behind our TE with 20....the next closest is Jordan Matthews with 10 receptions) it doesn't mean as much in-game.

    9) He's 10th in Yards per Attempt at 7.52!
*Not anymore. However, it doesn't mean much anyway..He was right in the middle of a large pack, with only tenths of a yard separating him from anyone. Carson Palmer is 21st with 7.01 while Cam Newton is 6th with 7.88. After this game however, Taylor is at 6.69 Yards per Attempt, placing him at 25th, just behind Eli Manning at 6.71. But like I said, not that a significant stat - people like Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, etc. were all below him, and their on-field play FAR surpasses Tyrod. People like Case Keenum, Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, Kevin Hogan, etc. are all at the top, but are not the same caliber QBs.

    10) He keeps plays alive!
    * He's also tied for second most sacks in the league with Matthew Stafford. His mobility has helped get him out of bad situations, but it's often put him in those situations too. Either A) He hangs on to the ball too long like he did on our final drive today, or B) He gets happy feet too quickly, feeling pressure that isn't there yet, and takes off running (often times right into an opposing linemen).

All in all, he's still probably our best chance to win games this year. Given our history at developing rookie QB's, it's unlikely Peterman would be any more successful once in-game. We'd likely try to run an even more conservative offense, limit his chances to turn the ball over, and ultimately end up making our play-calling as predictable as the Jauron days. We'll run on 1st, run on 2nd, pass/checkdown on 3rd. Rinse & repeat. I don't think he's bad, but he has a lot of flaws that people want to pass off on anyone & everyone else. He's a game manager, and only a DECENT one at that. I'd take 2014 Kyle Orton over Tyrod any day though.

  8. Through 5 Weeks, Tyrod Taylor has 24 completions to WRs. AKA, less than 5 per game.

    Week 5 - 3 WR receptions

    Tate: 2

    Jones: 1

    Week 4 - 4 WR receptions

    Matthews: 2

    Jones: 1

    Holmes: 1

    Week 3 - 6 WR receptions

    Matthews: 3

    Holmes: 2

    K. Clay: 1

    Week 2 - 7 WR receptions

    Matthews: 3

    Holmes: 2

    Jones: 2

    Week 1 - 4 WR receptions

    Matthews: 2

    Jones: 1

    Holmes: 1

Shows just how great a 2nd round pick Zay has turned out to be.

I'm not normally "mean" about players or spiteful, but man.... I'm having trouble containing myself with Zay's performances. 1 catch a game. 1 or more drops a game. Plenty of targets compared to all our other options. NO PRODUCTION!

  9. Shhhh NOW keep drinking pal....The problem is the QB.

I suppose its the WR's fault he stands at the back of his drop and holds the damn ball until he is pulverized. NOT an NFL starting QB.

Nimrod is now 1-11 when the attempts 30 or more passes in a game. That pretty much says it all. LOL!

Shhhhhh! We all know it's not his fault! The open WR's should've thrown the ball to themselves! People say Tyrod not seeing open receivers and over throwing open receivers isn't true! Doesn't matter what you see with your own eyes!

At least we can be happy Zay Jones is continuing to average 1 catch & 1 drop a game. The dude is on fire! He was only targeted 6 times, so he's also keeping that 20% reception average way up there!

  10. On that last drive, he took a sack after great pass protection and not seeing the open WR on the hook route! He has guys to throw to, has open people he doesn't see, or simply overthrows his target far too often.

When that doesn't happen, QB's get yards added to their stats. People say "yards don't matter," but they ignore that the yards are a result of competent QB play!

Think about that drive one more time, we know we NEED to get a 1st down with the game on the line. Tyrod takes an unecessary sack, ok...so obviously the next play is crucial to be successful. What does he do? Dump pass to the RB who's behind the line of scrimmage........ -_- Guys, that is not ok with the game on the line!

No urgency whatsoever! Whether the pick happened or not, you could clearly see where that drive was going - nowhere. The entire second half we only had drives extended via penalties from the Bengals! Late in the 4th we had only managed 34 yards at one point! After an amazing kick return + a personal foul penalty tacked on, we go backwards a couple plays, followed by a dump pass. We had every opportunity to score, but nope. We botched 100% of our offensive possessions.

Even if we manage a winning record this season, it's clearly in spite of our offense. Stop ignoring pertinent data, relevant statistics, and what you see with your own eyes just because of our W/L record. Coaches don't! They point out the areas they need to improve, they see the flaws and try to address them. The fans however latch on to a single player and blindly ride into battle to defend them no matter what.

Doesn't matter who that QB is, they will always have their loyal supporters who blame everyone else. We've seen it with EJ Manuel, JP Losman, Kelly Holcomb, Trent Edwards, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassell, Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jeff Tuel, hell...even Brian Brohm! We as fans should definitely be supportive of our team and each other, but there's no reason to lie about these guys. Failing to address their issues makes no sense.

  11. also

37 attempts and 20 catches. how many were drops? how many of them should have been caught?

this board will be unreadable for the next few days. gdamn newbs.

Happens to everyone. Look at Dalton! His 2 interceptions were from his own guys not catching well thrown passes! He had tons of WRs drop balls today, yet still managed to move the ball perfectly fine.

  12. Here is an interesting site: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/comebacks_career.htm

They list QB's who've had at least three 4th quarter and/or come from behind wins in their career. Tyrod is no where to be found. In his 3rd year as a starter, maybe 2, or 1. Dak has 5, GENO SMITH has 3. Tyrod - no. Oops, now he's horribly overthrown Zay for a pick.

I give him credit for the long ball, because he does complete a good number where other QB's don't even try, let alone succeed. He certainly throws a number away to avoid the pick, but he hits his fair share, so I give him that as a positive.

Regardless of today's outcome, I stand by Tyrod being an improvement over what we had, and a placeholder for what I hope we can acquire next year.

Read through the mid part of this thread. People actually were comparing him to Drew Brees in terms of his ability to will a team to victory/come from behind wins. They ignored the countless come from behind wins Brees has had throughout his career just to speak about the last couple. Anything to defend Tyrod from facts.

Tyrod is now 2-16 in games we trail at any point during the 4th quarter. Yay. Crazy Dak Prescott has more wins than him already.

  13. Anti-clutch. Can't play when he's down. He's not the worst QB alive but he's not the guy.

Exactly. Even if I call out the obvious, it doesn't make me a hater. I'm just not going to make excuses for what I can see with my own eyes each & every game. But there are relevant stats that backup exactly what we see from him, and the most painful is the "Anti-Clutch" stat which shows he cannot win in the 4th quarter if we fall behind AT ALL.

2-16. Just remember throughout the year when the 4th quarter hits. If we don't have the lead, it's virtually over.

  14. Add yet another loss when we trail at ANY point during the 4th quarter to the resume.

  15. Defense is just gassed.

When the offense can't get first downs, that's what happens. Our defense has given us every chance possible to get into this game, but we don't do much with it.

Andy Dalton looks like a HOF'er compared to Tyrod. His 2 picks were the result of a drop right through the hands of his best WR, and the other another tipped pass. He's been money on 3rd down all game too. Our offense on the other hand has what, 40 yards of total offense through the entire 2nd half?

People love to say "passing yards don't matter!" or "3 & outs don't matter!" or "Tyrod only has low passing yards since he only attempts 24 passes a game!" but ignore their eyes and how they're all connected. He only averages 24 attempts per game because we don't convert 3rd downs and go 3 & out so often. He doesn't have the chance to pass more as he's sitting on the bench after a failed drive.

It's so frustrating, and now we go into the bye after losing to a 1-3 team that tore us up through the air, with more injuries, and more questions than answers on how good this team really is.

  16. And here we go. Bills response after a Begals TD? Go 3 & out. Oh wait, a lucky penalty extends their drive, new set of downs. Surely, we can move the ball now. Nope 3 plays & punt, moving backwards.

But hey, at the start of the drive we had 34 yards of total offense in the 2nd half, definitely not Tyrod's fault though. 3 & outs don't matter. Even when the defense is giving you possessions, still can't do much with it.

I posted a stat earlier and broke down how if the Bills under Tyrod go down at ANY point in the 4th quarter we're 2-15. I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't look good for us. It's not all Tyrod's fault, it never is. But he's not a come-from-behind QB, so all we can do is hope for the best. Defense has given us all they can, the offense HAS to do something.

And even with GREAT...absolutely GREAT field position, we net almost no yards period. Settling for yet another FG.

  17. Thanks for the well-documented post

Sorry I didn't go through their entire game log for the past decade and write an in-detailed post explaining every single time the Bills have faltered in inclement weather. Wtf were you expecting? And so far any time I've taken the time to breakdown stats from the past several years, all I get are stupid comments that say "STATS DON'T MATTER!" "WE'RE 3-1 THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!"

It's a post about weather, please show me a post of what you'd have liked to see in these 3 pages of posts. Who was the standout commenter that really made a difference?

  18. So a 3 & out after coming out of the locker room from half time. Now the Bengals start with much better field position than if we had a single first down.

    - Notice Tyrod's low PASSING ATTEMPTS: See how he can't get MORE passing attempts because the drive ended? People always point to "well he only averages 24 attempts per game!" and blame the OC. Here's the thing, if we didn't go 3 & out, he'd NATURALLY get more passing attempts by virtue of still be on the field.

Again, 3 & outs DO matter.
