1st Round flop gets traded to a crappy team and shines.

    STOP THE PRESSES!

Um... that didn't happen. It actually would be newsworthy if he did "shine."

Maybe you should scroll up a bit & read the thread.

Pretty sure he simultaneously lead the league in TDs scored and turnovers his first 6 years in the league. I think that was the stat thrown around alot.

He cleaned up his turnovers in the playoffs. 25 TD passes to only 4 INT.

Yes, he was both TD leader & turnover leader.

He's actually still the turnover leader the past 7 years (by a pretty wide margin), and he has Mahomes beat by 3 TDs.

I'm just saying his TD to turnover ratio was just pretty good, never great. Even with all his TDs, he had too many turnovers compared to the other guys.

Wait, you think the 2022 draft was "bad"? "No plan"--and then that this most recent draft was also like that?

2022 draft--Four quality starters: James Cook, a pro bowl running back, and by almost anyone's  standards, one of the top 5 backs in the NFL now, Khalil Shakir,  a great slot receiver, a vital part of this great offense, and our Superstar's go to player, Terrel Bernard, our solid starting linebacker, playmaker, and Christian Beford, one of the best cornerbacks in the league.

4 high quality starters, most of them likely pro bowl players, several of them some of the best players at their positions--Cook, Shakir, and Benford--and you just flatly say it was a "bad draft"! Am I missing something here?

What the heck would a good draft be to you then?

That is your evidence to support your post I challenged, in which you said they "seem to go into the draft without a plan"--but somehow, with no good plan, draft 4 high level starters?

And you are making the point that they did the same thing, "no plan", for the draft this year.  I really hope, by your definition, you are right--and they had the same kind of  "bad' plan this year they had in 2022. And have drafted 4 more high level, pro bowl caliber starters.

I would take that--and every GM in the NFL would as well, I think.

Sheesh, what would you think makes a good draft, by your unusual standards?

Do you really believe this stuff?

I agree, though just wanted to point out that most outside of Buffalo don't consider Terrell Bernard to be a top tier LB.

Just to put it in perspective, PFF gave him a 47.6 grade for 2024 (165th among LBs) and just for laughs, he's got a 79 overall rating in Madden 😆

I know, I know, we all hate PFF. I'm only bringing up that in a redraft, he likely wouldn't be valued as highly as we value him.

Regarding everything else, I think wasting a 1st round pick on Kaiir Elam kinda sours things a bit.

The Bills have a severe lack of elite talent & play makers, so consistently falling to change that with your 1st round picks reflects poorly on Beane regardless of late round hits.

Yes, but it was always overblown because his TD to TO numbers were still staggering.  Regardless, it is yet another area of his game he has worked fervently to improve, and it shows in historic fashion.

His TD to turnover ratio was good, not great.

Jalen Hurts: 145 total TDs to 45 turnovers - 3.22 to 1 ratio

Aaron Rodgers: 508 total TDs to 162 turnovers - 3.14 to 1 ratio

Patrick Mahomes: 263 total TDs to 88 turnovers - 2.99 to 1 ratio

Lamar Jackson: 206 total TDs to 75 turnovers - 2.75 to 1 ratio

Russell Wilson: 385 total TDs to 147 turnovers - 2.62 to 1 ratio

Jared Goff: 241 total TDs to 95 turnovers - 2.54 to 1 ratio

Joe Burrow: 154 total TDs to 61 turnovers - 2.52 to 1 ratio

Brock Purdy: 74 total TDs to 32 turnovers - 2.31 to 1 ratio

Dak Prescott: 245 total TDs to 111 turnovers - 2.21 ratio

Josh Allen (prior to 2024): 219 total TDs to 102 turnovers - 2.14 ratio

In other words, it was a "good" TD to TO ratio, but not amazing. After he stopped being a turnover machine, he improved his ratio to 2.40 TDs to 1 TO, which is better, but still worse than everyone I listed except for Purdy & Dak.

We have to be honest, Josh did turn the ball over a ton.

  5. 8 hours ago, BuffaloBill said:

Yep, remember when the storyline on JA was that he was a turnover machine?

He was a turnover machine. Up through the 2023 season, Allen had never gone 2 straight regular season games without an INT. And even with last season's remarkable turnaround, he's still way above everyone else in total turnovers since he's been in the league.

Now I argue that's partially because very few players have been starting & healthy for as many games as him, and his TDs were much more important. However, even when including his TDs, his TD/turnover ratio was below others in that group.

Thankfully, that's changed. It's what allowed him to win MVP over others who were also very deserving. I think it's important to give credit to Josh for his growth & not just act like the problems never existed.

It's the same way I view the huge leap he took in 2020. A lot of people will say things like "anyone who paid attention KNEW Allen would be a star!" or "Allen was ALWAYS great, he just needed more help!"

I think stuff like that downplays how hard Josh worked to get better. He was not a guaranteed star. He busted his ass to become one.

Late December.  The Bengals are toast.  Their defense isn’t the sort that can carry them, and as nice of a backup as Browning is he’s not going to put a team on his shoulders.  I can see Cinci losing a bunch of 31-24ish games.

But unlike years prior, they started off 2-0, so they have a tiny cushion.

I do mostly agree though, Browning isn't going to put the team on his shoulders. I also see them losing a lot of 1 score games.

Burrow could come back with 3 games left on the schedule. If they go .500 in the meantime, they could be 8-6, with 11 wins getting them into the playoffs (they would've made it with 10 wins last year had the Chiefs played their starters week 18).

It's a tough schedule, but they've got some winnable games prior to week 16 (presumably when Burrow could return):

    Vikings

    Broncos

    Steelers x2

    Jets

    Bears

    Patriots

They will likely lose against the Bills, Ravens (x2), Lions & Packers, then Burrow can return to close out the season against the Dolphins, Cardinals  & Browns.

I don't recall ever seeing Bosa look like he enjoyed playing the game of football this much since he was at Ohio St. He just genuinely seems to be happy here in Buffalo. I hope and pray this guy stays healthy all year.

He does look happy, but let's not read too much into that. People were saying the same thing about Amari Cooper last year 😄

IMO a trade like this cripples your team.

Bills would need to give up probably Oliver or Rousseau plus 2 #1 picks, then make the cap work which might involve moving someone else.

Huge upgrade at DE, but you downgrade big time at DT, you have cap issues and no #1 picks for 2 years with a lot of highly paid players.

    It just never makes sense.

I'd easily give up Rousseau + 2 picks for Parsons.

Given who this team has used 1st round picks on, I wouldn't miss those picks anyway. Rather take my chances with a guaranteed young superstar. You know, an asset of which we have very few of on this team.

Name one superstar, elite talent on the Bills besides Josh. We have none. If you have a chance to get the next Von Miller, the next Bruce Smith, the next Reggie White, who cares if you give up 2 x 1st round picks?

Right now, no picks involved at all, would you do these trades:

    1) Ed Oliver & Groot for Parsons

    2) Groot & Kincaid for Parsons

    3) Coleman & Groot for Parsons

    4) Hairston & Kincaid for Parsons

    5) Elam & Edmunds for Parsons... oh wait.

And yes, I know Coleman was just the top of the 2nd round, but he was the result of multiple trade backs out of the 1st round.

I would take ALL of those for Parsons. That's what we've spent our 1st round picks on. Maybe Hairston or Kincaid become elite, but Parsons is already a top 2 or 3 player at his position, only 26 years old, gets constant pressure on the QB (sack or not) and commands a QB-level contract due to how good he is.

We already have cap issues. We basically paid tens of millions of dollars to offload Stefon Diggs & save money in the future, yet we've still got the least cap space in the NFL & no elite talent to show for it. We paid Von Miller a boatload of money years ago when he was already 33 & got 9 good games out of him.

Green Bay is already paying a big QB contract, is extremely young, has a great defense AND managed to swing Micah Parsons.

I'm sure they won't be regretting anything if their team is as successful as they look like they're going to be. Remember when many on this board said we shouldn't try to trade for CMC because he needed a "real" every down back? Then he goes to the 49ers & lights it up. Pretty sure he would've been insane on this team. Even when Derek Henry was available people weren't that interested. We had Cook after all.

But as much as I like Cook, he's no Derek Henry.

At this point, if any superstar players becomes available, the Bills should try to get them. They need play makers that opponents have to gameplan specifically for. That's where I'm at at this point.

No come on-this is just trying to justify bills fans reaching onto the field. Yell at the players, don’t put your hands on them. Being close to the stands and saying stuff to the fans after a touchdown doesn’t justify smacking them in the helmets.

If we reverse the roles, you know that we would be in here crushing Ravens fans for doing the exact same thing

Exactly. And let's not act like Bills fans haven't been guilty of doing stupid crap during these games.

They were throwing snowballs at players, throwing dildos on the field (hilarious, but I have an 8 year old's sense of humor) & even threw a water bottle at Henry after the TD.

STOP THROWING SH*T ON THE FIELD!

Aside from that, don't put your hands on other players (unless it's the home team jumping int he crowd). Even if a player is bragging right in your face, that doesn't mean you can then shove him in the head. We talk crap to players all the time & expect them not to react. That doesn't mean you can physically push someone & expect the same.

Imagine going to an away game with a friend, your team scores a TD, and you start cheering. Then out of nowhere, someone shove's your friend in the side of the head, then shoves your head. You're not a player, just a fan. You going to take that, or are you going to be pissed? I'd turn around & clock the guy, then probably get jumped by the whole section.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Jets plan to run the ball.

That should be everyone's game plan until we can prove capable of stopping the run.

Justin Fields isn't Lamar, but he's just as capable of running the ball as Lamar is. The Jets are just going RPO all day, and without Oliver, we're in real pain.

  11. It's probably better it didn't count, as the Ravens played a bit differently at the end with that 40 - 38 lead.

They were satisfied trying to kill clock, but if we were tied 40 - 40, they'd be trying to go down & score (likely while milking clock).

It gave us a chance to get a victory instead of come up just short.

  12. Well, he didn't really do much through 3 quarters, but he certainly delivered by the game's end. I'm not a Keon hater by any means, but I still have no idea if he's capable of being a legit WR1.

I've said that I have high expectations for him this season, but that's about it. Unlike with Elam (who I always thought wasn't good), and despite his 8 minute 40 time, I'm optimistic when it comes to Keon.

However, I think him & Allen need to work on taking advantage of his height & reach a bit more.

The announce team made a good point during one of those back shoulder throws in the endzone. Keon would probably have a better chance to score if Josh can place the ball high & let him use that size to jump over the smaller defenders.

Get that ball placement right & it won't matter if it takes him a full quarter to run a route.

  13. I mean, Bass was good in the playoffs last year.

    6 for 6 on FGs.

    7 for 7 on XPs.

Made 2 x 50+ yard FGs. He also hit a 61 yard game winner against Miami in the regular season, so I'm not ready to give up on Bass just yet.

Yes, we need someone who can hit the "easy" kicks. But Bass should have a bit of an advantage, as he's used to kicking in Buffalo after all these years.

He's also only played 5 seasons at this point. Compare that to Prater who's played 20 already. I get that you're only advocating for this season, but I'd still want to give Bass a chance unless Prater is absolutely killing it.

  14. I am smiling ear to ear.

I had to stop watching more than once. The defense was so bad, it was genuinely infuriating to watch.

But then things started going our way. Josh made plays. The defense got a stop. The ball started bouncing our way, both in the Henry fumble & the insanely clutch Keon tipped TD catch.

The only thing left was for our newly signed, 20 season veteran kicker to close things out - AND HE DID!

I know Allen will get the most credit, but Matt Prater, you definitely deserve a game ball too ❤️
